Chapter 348: 348: He’s here.

The Emperor arrived at the prison in the company of Mr. Albert and some Imperial Guards. They all stood behind him while the Emperor moved elegantly, both hands behind his back.

He walked through the jail that held the princes before arriving at the main cell. The Emperor smiled as he looked inside, staring at Elvis and his brother lying there.

They were both beaten to a pulp. Their clothes were wet with sweat and dirty from grime. Their faces and bodies were bruised and bleeding as they lay there helpless in the jail. They seemed as though they could break down anytime soon.

"How are you enjoying the new accommodation?" He smiled as he stared at them.

They both managed to look up. Elvis got up to his knees, panting heavily.

"It seems you aren’t really liking my humble accommodation. That’s rude. You should be grateful I gave you somewhere to lay your head," he sighed, folding his arms.

The Emperor looked around. "You two don’t look so healthy, though. Are you sure you can make it long enough?"

He looked down at them. "Your dear wizard isn’t here to save you. Too bad—doesn’t he care about you anymore?"

Elvis glared up at him, blood dripping from his lips. "You’re wasting your time," he scoffed. "We’re not as close as you claim, so he won’t be coming here at all. You’re wasting your precious time."

The Emperor glared at him. "Do you think I’ll buy that?" He raised an eyebrow. "I already know something is going on between you guys. And whatever it is, it’s enough to bring him here."

"He won’t! So do your worst and stop wasting time! Just leave Eden out of this!" Lysander snapped, struggling to get to his feet but to no avail. His whole body was aching.

The Emperor smiled at him. "How sweet. But I suppose we’ll have to see, won’t we? In no time he’ll come running here, and I can bet anything on it."

"And what do you plan on doing then? When he comes?" Elvis questioned.

"Great question," the Emperor smiled. "And it’s quite easy. I’ll carry on with the simple task that none of you could achieve: eliminate that bastard."

"You can’t," Lysander chipped in. "You can’t harm Eden at all. You’re no match for him. He’ll crush you into ashes," he scoffed mockingly.

The Emperor’s expression went cold as he stared down at Lysander. "Eden... what an interesting new name. But that doesn’t matter... because I could have you dead right now if you don’t shut up, and no one will say a word. Because I’m the Emperor, after all."

"Try it, then," Lysander snapped. "Abuse your power all you want, but one thing is for sure. Eden will smash your existence into ashes... and a better Emperor will take your seat!"

The Emperor struggled to keep his calm, glaring down at the "ignorant kid." "It seems you won’t be shutting up anytime soon, huh?"

He turned and stared at a guard. "I’ll have to teach you how to respect your ruler, then. Give him some more beating."

He instructed as the guards stormed into the prison. They grabbed Lysander to beat him up again while Elvis tried to save his brother.

But Elvis was too weak to fight against them. They pushed him aside while they held Lysander.

But before they started beating him, a guard walked up to the Emperor and whispered something in his ear.

The Emperor smiled as he raised a hand. "Halt. Let him be—I’m suddenly in a good mood."

They left Lysander and walked out of the prison room, locking it up again.

Now the Emperor walked closer and stared down at Lysander, who was glaring murderously at him. He smirked, "Didn’t you say something about me not being able to harm your little Eden?"

He scoffed while adding, "Well, in case you don’t know, I have a secret weapon your dear wizard probably doesn’t know about and won’t see coming at all. And I’ll use my secret weapon to take him down now."

He smiled as he stared at Elvis. "And guess what—our little wizard is already here. Waiting to have an audience with me." He burst into hysterical laughter while Elvis and Lysander stared at him.

The two were speechless and beyond worried about what was about to unfold that night.

The Emperor stepped backward, both hands behind him as he smiled at both of them.

"If you’ll excuse me, I’ll take my leave and see my most esteemed visitor." He smiled as he turned and walked off with Mr. Albert and the guards.

"Don’t touch him!" Elvis snapped angrily as he pushed himself to the prison gate, holding onto the iron bars, shaking them while screaming at the Emperor. "Don’t you dare touch him, or I’ll make you pay! Don’t touch him!!"

He screamed out loud, but the Emperor casually smiled as he made his way out of the premises.

The Emperor arrived in his courtroom. He walked to his throne and took his seat while the guards stood at the sides. Mr. Albert followed the Emperor and stood beside his seat.

There was no sign of Eden anywhere.

The Emperor stared at the other guards, who were looking around the courtroom as if searching for something.

"I thought you said the wizard is here in the courtroom waiting for me?" the Emperor asked, looking around. "So? Where the hell is he?"

He stared at the guards, who were also looking around.

"Well..." one of them managed to say, "He was here, but..."

"But what?" the Emperor demanded, glaring at them.

"He was here... but he suddenly disappeared... so we can’t see him anymore..." another replied.

Shocked, the Emperor got to his feet. Panic was written all over his face as he looked around. The other guards and Mr. Albert joined in looking around, too.

"You mean he was here and suddenly isn’t?!" the Emperor questioned.

"Exactly, Your Majesty," the guard replied.
