Chapter 327: 327: Succeeded?

"It won’t help much. The basics are useless here. I think you should go and beg them to forgive you or something."

"Never," Eden said. "I’ll never do such a thing. I’ll make sure I kick their ass."

Marcus nodded, arms folded. "I like the confidence, then. Probably because you’re the wizard, so you’ll likely find it easy. So I think you might have a chance after all..."

"So help me," Eden said. "With the basics. I’ll make sure to keep up."

Marcus stared at him for a while and then sighed. "My brother will skin me alive for this... But sure. Probably because I don’t want you dead before your time. I’d be dead by then, too."

Eden smiled. "Nice, then."

"Tomorrow," Marcus said. "We start tomorrow. So till then, make sure you don’t get into more trouble."

Eden nodded. "Sure!"

"Okay, then. I’ll see you then." Marcus turned to the cat and smiled. "See you around, then, too." He was soon gone.

Lenny watched him leave, the thought still lingering in his head.

"Hey, Eden. Don’t you think that guy looks like a pervert or something?" Lenny asked.

"..."

Helen and Eden paused and stared at him, and then stared at Marcus, whose back they could only see as he was leaving.

"And why would you say that...?"

Lenny wanted to tell them about what happened yesterday. He wanted to tell them about him turning into a human.

But he figured now wasn’t the right time. He didn’t understand how it happened; he didn’t even know what happened to him. So he figured he should observe for a while before spilling.

"No, he just gives that vibe," Lenny said.

"He does? He looks decent to me," Eden said.

"Me too," Helen agreed.

Lenny rolled his eyes. "First impressions don’t always count. Y’all are just being blinded by his pretty face," he said, resting his head on his paws.

Helen and Eden nodded. "Maybe?"

Leo’s class was the next day. And when the day came, Eden began panicking.

He figured he didn’t have anything to present to him at all. He didn’t wish to, but as the time came, he figured he needed something, at least.

And so Eden found himself using his magic to generate something—anything. He cooked up something and took the file to class.

Missing class was on his list of considerations, but that would certainly throw him into more trouble.

Classes started with Leo boring them with endless talks about the arts of war and so on. He gave them a detailed briefing on it. But luckily, Eden didn’t fall asleep. Yet.

In the middle of the class, Leo walked up to Eden’s table and tapped his stick on his desk. "I remember giving you an assignment on this topic."

Eden forced a smile. "Yes! I did it!" He happily brought out the file of papers and placed them on the table. "Here."

Leo paused. He stared at the assignment and then stared at Eden’s smiling expression. Even the rest of the students in the class were shocked. They never expected Eden to do anything, let alone finish it.

Leo took the file and flipped through it, reading its content. For a while, he said nothing, and it left Eden feeling anxious. He hoped Leo wouldn’t suspect anything and would just go with it. He didn’t have time for anything else.

"Did you do this?" Leo stared at him.

Eden smiled. "Of course I did! I put my hard work into this and finally achieved it. So yeah..." He smiled.

"Is that so?" Leo ran his eyes and finger through the papers. For a while, he said nothing. And then he said, "It’s so well written, detailed, and well articulated. I’m impressed."

Eden smiled proudly. "Of course it would be! I made it. So I put my all into it."

Leo smiled softly as he nodded. "That’s good, then." He turned and walked to the stage, where he continued teaching. And he used the file as a reference while he taught.

Eden smiled. He was relieved as he sat there proudly. The others were staring at him, probably shocked. And Eden was aware of it; he was proud of himself.

He was free from Leo, and that was enough to make him happy.

Leo continued teaching, and after a while, smiled as he said, "This is so well written that I’d like the person behind it to come and help us explain more."

"Huh??!" Eden’s voice was so loud that all eyes fell on him. He didn’t see that coming at all.

Everyone had their eyes on him now, some smiling. Leo stared firmly at him as he said, "What’s wrong? You wrote this, so I want you to come and help explain it to everyone. Present it so we can all understand better. Can’t you do that at least?"

Eden stared at Leo. He had no words to explain how much he wished to burn Leo down at that moment! This was not the plan at all!

"Hello? Eden? Come on and present it. Everyone’s waiting," Leo said.

Eden could hear some people laughing as he got up to his feet. He made his way to the front and stood beside Leo, who handed him the papers.

Leo smiled. "Now show us what you’ve got so we can all learn."

Eden cast him a cold glare but smiled as he took the file. He stared through it and cleared his throat. He had never even gone through it himself and didn’t know the content. All he did was copy and paste.

His brain had gone numb at the moment; he didn’t even know what to think about. He could potentially use his powers and transfer the knowledge into his head or something.

But he was too frantic at the moment to think straight. And before he could come up with something, Leo interrupted him.

Leo smiled at him as he said, "Forget about it and meet me after class."
