[BL] Seducing Male Leads To Survive As A Villain In A Novel-Chapter 278: Proof
They were quiet for a while, staring at each other while looking for a way to counterattack.
Then someone said, "Then what are you saying? That the King stabbed himself or what?"
They stared at her.
"Exactly."
"That’s stupid!"
"Makes no sense! Why would he do that?"
"Exactly!" they all protested, but Queen Elizabeth smiled as she summoned someone in. She called the Royal Physician and had him distribute some papers.
"I didn’t wish to expose this, as the King didn’t want anyone to know. But since it has gotten to this, I have to say it."
They all stared at the paper in shock.
Queen Elizabeth continued, "He was diagnosed with a rare illness. The details are there and are official. You can see that it has been dated to some years now. And he has been treating it in secret."
She continued, "The illness makes him lose it sometimes. Makes him go crazy and even results in him harming himself when he gets triggered."
"So that night, I was only trying to stop him. But it was too late because he had already been triggered by me telling him to stop. And he stabbed himself."
The men were speechless. They couldn’t explain what all this was. It was a perfect explanation for everything, in some angle. But they had a feeling she had made it up.
"All lies!" they protested.
"You made this up!"
She smiled. "I actually don’t need you to agree to it. I’m just sharing some information as courtesy demands. I don’t care if you feel the same. All I know is I have evidence to prove my innocence and prove that he was already losing his mind. An official medical document from the physician that has been tending to him for years. So what could be more solid evidence?"
She smiled while staring at their shocked expressions. She added, "I’m sure the whole world would believe it and pity the late king."
They feared her. Feared the woman whose words came so smooth that most were almost swayed.
Queen Elizabeth added, "And about meeting him last. It’s obvious knowledge that I wanted to spend time with my dying husband. How does that make me his killer? Do you have proof?"
The men were speechless. They sat there staring at Queen Elizabeth, all short of words. They stared at each other while looking for what to say.
Queen Elizabeth added, "You should mind your words. Slandering your ruler isn’t so nice. I can have your heads for it."
They glared at her.
"How dare you speak to us like that?"
"Behead us?! How dare you, a woman!"
"We will never let you become our ruler!"
"Over our dead bodies!"
"Right! We know our dead great king wouldn’t have allowed such atrocity!"
Queen Elizabeth simply smiled while she listened to them speak. "Are you sure about that? Because it seems you wish to go against the words of your great king then."
They were silent for a while, staring at her in confusion. They didn’t have the guts to even ask her what she meant.
"Oh, you didn’t know. I guess I didn’t tell you all that part from the beginning. My bad." She smiled as she stared at the Royal messenger who was standing at the side.
She stretched out her hands and handed him the scroll. The Royal messenger took it and came to stand before them all.
They stared in confusion, wondering what else Queen Elizabeth was up to now.
"Listen carefully, so you don’t make silly mistakes like this in the future," she said as she urged the royal messenger to continue.
He began reading. Reading "the last words and wishes" of the late king before he died.
The scroll recounted how virtuous and worthy Queen Elizabeth was. How the King regretted leaving the world in such a sudden state because of his illness, which he couldn’t tell the world about. And then he expressed that although he feels guilty about leaving his kingdom suddenly, he’s glad he has someone to entrust it to.
And then he officially announced that he would be handing over the kingdom to Queen Elizabeth, his first wife. One whom he has been with for the longest and deemed most worthy to sit on his throne and lead the kingdom to greatness.
And so he wrote that anyone who goes against her as the ruler would suffer any punishment she decides as the ruler.
The royal messenger was done reading the message on the scroll and handed it back to Queen Elizabeth and moved to the side.
Queen Elizabeth smiled as she took back the scroll and stared at the faces of the noble men of the royal court.
"So? Does anyone have anything contrary to what your King has ordered?"
The men were speechless. They stared at each other for a while. They couldn’t even mutter to themselves anymore.
They were still processing what was read. And some were even doubting it.
"You can confirm the authenticity if you want," Queen Elizabeth smiled. "I’m not against it."
They were quiet, staring at each other. For a while, no one could even talk again. They didn’t know what to say, especially after what they read.
Queen Elizabeth smiled. "So that’s it. And with that, I believe it’s already official that from today henceforth, I, Elizabeth, am the New Ruler of the Kingdom of Valencrest."
She stared, watching them speak amongst themselves. It was obvious that they weren’t happy with it at all, but at the moment none of them could protest.
"Anyone who feels like they can’t accept it, or feels that this will only happen over their dead bodies, can come forth and have their heads taken," Queen Elizabeth said firmly as the guard standing beside her pulled his sword.
The men trembled and went silent. No one dared speak again or even mutter. They cleared their throats as they stared around.
Queen Elizabeth scoffed as she said, "Cowards. I thought as much."
