[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 55: Difficult Problem
After a few minutes of catching up, Julian’s parents turned to Arcane, who was standing not far from them. With his suitcase nearby, he smiled at them. They then turned to their son as if to ask, who was this man?
"Did you come with your friend?" asked his mother, thinking that Arcane was Julian’s friend from the big city.
His father thought the same thing and invited them inside while helping carry their belongings.
"Let’s talk inside. It’s still so dark outside."
However, when they finally sat together in the living room, Julian seemed hesitant to speak. He then held Arcane’s hand and prepared himself to tell his parents about their relationship.
’You can do it! Just tell them the truth...’ He tried to convince himself and took a deep breath before speaking.
Maybe his parents would be disappointed in his decision. But he would try to explain so that they would understand what he was going through right now.
"Dad... Mom... Actually, he..."
Before he could say anything, Arcane took over and spoke to them first. His hand was still holding Julian’s, and he looked at his parents.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Thorne, my name is Arcane Romano. I’m not just here to take Julian home. I also wanted to meet you both in person," he said, introducing himself.
"Oh, really? We’d be happy to meet you too." Megara and her husband Louis nodded their heads.
Feeling that Arcane was very friendly and polite, the middle aged couple smiled at him. They welcomed him warmly and asked why Arcane wanted to meet them too.
"Julian must have caused a lot of trouble in the big city, right? This kid is very spoiled. I’m sorry if he has bothered you," said Megara.
"No, not at all. I’m actually happy to have been able to live with him all this time. Because I feel that my life would be very lonely without him," replied Arcane.
That answer still sounded normal for someone, but Megara, as a mother, could sense something different from the answer given to them.
Her eyes then fell on the rings worn by Julian and Arcane. The wedding rings they had worn from the start were only for show, but they had never taken them off because the marriage had become real.
"Actually, the reason I came here is..."
"How long has this been going on?" asked the woman, interrupting him, her tone suddenly becoming serious and somewhat cold as she realized Arcane’s intentions.
Louis, as her husband, didn’t understand why his wife was suddenly talking like that. He turned to her, only to find her whispering in his ear, his expression now also turning serious from his usual friendly face.
At that moment, Julian knew they were in big trouble and that his parents had realized what they were about to say. Arcane wasn’t stupid enough not to notice the change in the living room.
Those who had been sitting casually leaning back on the sofa now sat up straight, as if the conversation was about to become very serious.
"You don’t need to explain anything. It seems like I already know what you’re going to say now. So how long have you two been in a relationship?" asked the father seriously.
"One year. Since Julian came to the big city, he has been living at my place and we have been in a relationship. But things started to get serious a month ago," replied Arcane.
Julian was a little hesitant to tell what really happened, but Arcane seemed to signal that he should be the one to explain it.
The man then explained everything about their relationship, which had been nothing more than a contract from the start. But he also explained that he had never touched Julian at all during the contract. Until a month ago, they began to realize their feelings for each other.
Megara and Louis listened to Arcane’s explanation with serious expressions. It was as if they were trying to digest the reasons behind all of this.
"So that’s what really happened. It wasn’t your son’s fault, but mine for taking advantage of him to enter into this contract marriage and achieve my goals. But now I realize that I have fallen in love with him. And I will continue to take good care of him," he said.
Their gazes then shifted to their son, who looked pale with fear.
"Julian Thorne, Father is quite disappointed in you for getting involved in something like this just to get money. You can be better than that instead of selling yourself like this," said Louis, raising his voice.
Julian’s body trembled; he knew this would happen if his parents found out what he had done in the city without their knowledge.
Arcane, realizing how afraid his husband was of his parents, tried to calm them down and blame him for what had happened.
"This isn’t his fault! He’s still so innocent, and I’m the one who took advantage of the situation. If you want to blame someone, blame me." He spoke firmly to Louis.
He would take any risk for his actions as long as they didn’t hate Julian.
"Even if I report you to the police for taking advantage of my son?" Louis asked her.
"Yes." He answered without hesitation. "I’m ready for that."
Seeing the situation escalate, Julian finally plucked up the courage to speak. He stood up from where he was sitting and looked at his parents.
"No way! I won’t let you imprison Arcane just because of this issue. I made that decision myself, and I’m the one who has to accept the consequences! I’m no longer a child who doesn’t understand what’s right and wrong. I know this decision is a bad one. But I still choose to be a part of it!"
He protested his parents’ words for the first time. Previously, he had never tried to stand up for something he believed was right. His parents always controlled everything for him. Their overprotective nature always took over every decision.
"I love Arcane! I love him so much that I don’t want to be far from him. He always takes good care of me. When I make a mistake, he doesn’t really scold me but teaches me how to fix it. He’s not like you, mom and dad who always pull me out of trouble and fix it for me!"
For Julian, Arcane was like a guide for him to become a better and more mature person. His parents always fixed all the mistakes he made, causing him to grow up to be a spoiled child who couldn’t do anything.
But with that man, he taught Julian everything he had never been able to do before. Now he understands who can help him grow beyond his comfort zone.
Hearing how Julian is now defying his parents’ words, Louis, the father, stands up and walks toward his son, towering over his smaller frame.
The mother is worried about what her husband will do.
"You dare to say something like that to me?" he asks.
"Yes. I’m an adult! And I can make my own decisions!"
The middle aged man then turned to Arcane, who had gotten up from the sofa and was standing between him and Julian. It was as if he was trying to protect Julian at that moment.
And what he did next was something they never expected.
Suddenly, Louis embraced Arcane, his face smiling.
"You’ve made my son so much better. Good job!"
