Chapter 39: The conclusion.

Nioh twisted mid-stride, his scythe cleaving through a charging locust. The blade vibrating with a shrill humming sound, sent cracks rippling through the creature’s armored shell.

The moment it split apart, he whipped around, using the momentum to strike another, while the bells on his weapon were singing with each movement.

The Wyvern Mecha roared again, as its battered body dragged itself forward. Its golden frame was now burned black, one wing torn, but its intent remained unbroken. It wasn’t just fighting—it was hunting.

The battlefield became a dance between past and present, of man and machine.

The survivors on the cliffs, and those on the streams watched in stunned silence as Nioh and the Wyvern moved in tandem. It was as if they wanted to carve this moment to memory as to not forget what was at stake in this battle for the safety of humanity.

There was no need for spoken commands. Every shift of the Wyvern’s body, every burst of its flame, seemed perfectly in tune with Nioh’s devastating scythe. It was as if the ancient war machine had recognized him—as if, for this final battle, it had found a worthy partner.

A locust lunged at Nioh from the side. The Wyvern’s tail lashed out, slamming the creature into the ground with a deafening crunch. Without missing a beat, Nioh leapt onto the tail, using the momentum to launch himself into the air.

He spun mid-air, pulling sound toward him, channeling the vibrations into a condensed sonic shockwave. When he swung his scythe downward, the force detonated on impact, sending a ripple of destruction through the locust swarm below.

The ground cracked.

The locusts screamed—then fell silent.

From above, the Wyvern opened its maw, its failing core still pulsing with raw energy. A searing inferno erupted forth, white-hot flames engulfing the battlefield in a storm of destruction. The burning sky reflected in Nioh’s crimson eyes as he landed amidst the chaos, his scythe still humming.

The public watching the hunt from the viewing towers held their breath.

User12345: "Did you see that?"

MechaMadness97: "The prince just—rode the tail of a Mecha like a platform?!"

Lunatic66: "They aren’t just fighting the locusts... they’re annihilating them."

RebelX01: "Who is piloting the mecha?"

The answer was clear. Obsession.

The Wyvern Mecha, canonized through sacrifice, had become a hollow ghost for revenge. Its hatred for the biocore—the monsters that had claimed its pilot—had outlived time itself. And now, with its final breath, it would see them erased.

But the locust horde was still vast. They poured from the sea like a flood, their stone bodies grinding together, their shrieks rising in a deafening chorus. They adapted, changing formations, pushing forward despite the overwhelming destruction.

"I’ll give you an opening," Nioh called out.

He raised his scythe, the bells vibrating in unison.

Then, like a void swallowing all sound—everything fell silent. The battlefield went still.

"What happened to the sound?"

"Is the sound bugging for you guys too"

The locusts twitched, sensing something unnatural. The wind stopped. Even the survivors felt the hush, a terrifying, absolute quiet that seemed to press down on their chests.

Then—Nioh swung.

The sonic rupture exploded outward, a wall of destruction that shredded the air itself. Every locust caught in its path was pulverized into dust, their once impenetrable shells reduced to nothing.

At that exact moment, the Wyvern soared above him, wings flaring wide, releasing its final breath of fire.

The eruption of sound and flame merged, forging a battlefield of utter annihilation. A fire tornado rose into the sky. The sky glowed red, the land quaked, and for the first time—the locust horde recoiled in fear.

But it was too late.

Nioh stepped forward once more, the bells of his scythe still ringing.

"You should have stayed in the ground."

And with one last scream of defiance, the Wyvern Mecha descended like a dying god, its body crashing into the horde, flames consuming everything in its wake.

The ground shook, as a final burst of destruction swallowed the battlefield.

And then—silence once more.

No chirping no buzzing, no flying locust, just crackling of flames and smoke rising to the sky. Nioh was standing in the middle of the carnage, like a lone survivor. The last time he had witnessed this much destruction, he had lost his hearing in the aftermath.

This time he wondered what he had lost. His partial morphing recinded , exposing his delicate face and worn out body. Under the eyes of the crowd he walked in the direction of the crashing site of the Mecha.

His steps were unhurried and uninterrupted. As he got closer, the fire was still burning intensively as he surveyed the perimeter. "There are no more signs of activity. It has completely died."Ekoh said delicately.

Nioh bowed, to the machine as a sign of respect. Maybe because of the vision he had experienced but he really felt kinship with the machine. He understood its obsession and its drive. While holding the ancient biocore in hand he whispered "Go in peace! There are humans who share your mantle. Your sacrifice wasn’t in vain."

The sky was rapidly filled with military ships and drones. The appearance of an unidentified Mecha and the size of the stone locust swarm had raised alarms regarding the security of the archipelago.

They descended in troves, taking immediate control of the Devil’s Enclave. "Go ! Go! Go" Nioh was encircled by a unit who had their weapons aimed at him. "Drop your weapons, you will be taken in for questioning." One of them said.

Nioh, unable to understand the command, grasped his scythe even tighter. He was confused by the whole situation. While looking in the distance he could see the rest of the survivors being taken in without due processing and his face turned ugly.

The live stream had already cut but the display of mastery from Nioh, had begun making rounds within the different communities.

UserGlevBloodline: "This is a supreme display of power."

MechaMadness07: "Pax took down a few hundred, Nioh took down thousands."

Cyber_Warrior88: "He is definitely a Glev. Have you seen his sound abilities?"

RebelKnight74: "I cannot get over the fact that he was riding a Mecha."

HistoryBuff17: "What happened to the mecha? What is the story here? We need more information."

Stealth_Elite01: "It’s clear now... Nioh’s not just some side character. He’s rewriting the book on the Summer Hunt."

Conversations were started, forums of discussion, and conspiracy theories. The Illegitimate son of the monarch had become the new topic of discussion and the center theme around the summer hunt."

Back on biohive 81, Aksel’s face was alternating between black and red. He had schemed so hard to obtain a position as a reserve guard in the inner city all for Nioh to be the potential new heir of the Daewyth fiefdom. " How tragic! How cruel you are Nioh." He said laughing bitterly. He remembered the words he had said a few months ago. "Our fate has really ended.
