Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 831 - 693: Don’t Tell Lowa! (Second Update)
Jaste sat in the living room and saw Sisana enter, frowning slightly, "You’re back."
"Hmm." Sisana smiled and sat on the sofa opposite Jaste.
"Didn’t you say you were going to chat with Joyina and Lowa?" She had even learned to eavesdrop, and Jaste’s expression was a bit awkward.
"Lowa told me to come back and have a good rest." Sisana gathered her courage after a long while and looked at him, "Today, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop; it’s just that the topic they were discussing was one I couldn’t contribute to, yet I really wanted to hear it, so I listened for a while. After listening, I was completely awed by Lowa’s charisma."
Jaste said solemnly, "She wasn’t like that before."
"What was she like?" Seeing his face darkened instantly, Sisana quickly explained, "I mean no harm, I won’t delve into meaningless questions anymore, I’m just curious about what kind of person Lowa is; I genuinely like her."
Jaste gave her a deep look, "Naughty, mischievous, a clever little rogue who didn’t like to study."
"Still, she must have been a very righteous little rogue."
"Hmm, she did plenty of righteous deeds and got into plenty of trouble too. Back then, she was still young, unaware of what’s beyond her reach, and often at odds with those stronger than her."
Sisana laughed, "That only highlights her sense of justice. If she bullied the weak specifically, then she’d be a bully."
Jaste gently lifted the corner of his lips, "You’re right. She and Huo Li were the comedic duo at our school, wherever they were, laughter abounded. Back then, I hadn’t returned home yet and was living in a gray area, feeling utterly despondent. Watching them tirelessly battle against evil, occasionally pranking others, was my only source of amusement. You might know that Lowa and Huo Li saved Joyina’s life, but you don’t know they did it with money tricked from Tong Airui."
Sisana covered her mouth with a laugh, "Even someone as smart as Tong Airui got tricked by the two of them; it shows how clever they are."
Jaste nodded with a smile, "Back then, Lowa and Huo Li were about Mianmian’s age, and Tong Airui was already in military school. I reckon that was the first time Tong Airui stumbled, and it was at the hands of two little girls."
"It’s amusing to think about." Sisana laughed, gently touching her belly, "I also want a clever child."
Jaste looked at the spot where their child was located with a tenderness as gentle as water, "You’ll have a smart child, because the child’s father is smart. The mother, though a bit silly, has also become smarter since having the child."
"Thank you for the compliment. If you hadn’t reminded me that I’ve become smarter, I’d still think I’m a little fool!"
"Everyone changes, like Huo Li; after that devastating blow, her temperament changed drastically. If not for Lowa and her second uncle, Huo Li would surely have died. As for Lowa, I must say, Tong Airui is definitely a good instructor, having personally transformed a brand new Lowa. Before, Lowa was unruly and disliked studying, but after being with Tong Airui, she became more composed, more magnanimous in dealing with people, and not long ago, she received her master’s degree."
"I’ve also read reports about Lowa. Although I was in a bad mood at the time, I silently admired her. Lowa truly deserves to be Fang Yao Continent’s First Lady; at such a young age, she saved her country—Haotian. Besides that, she made numerous contributions to Xia Wu while raising three children; regardless of how much guidance Tong Airui and his family gave her, even if you guided me, I couldn’t accomplish what she did. Jaste, I finally understand why you admire Lowa so much."
Jaste was slightly taken aback, "I admire Lowa?"
"Yes, apart from admiration there’s also gratitude, and a bit of something I can’t express clearly, something you can’t quite figure out either." Sisana laughed as she came over, sat beside Jaste, and tightly held his hand, "I used to be paranoid, causing our relationship to deteriorate repeatedly, but today I understand that regardless of the past, now you are my husband, the father of my child. Because of this little fellow’s existence, we seem even more like a family."
Jaste shook his head, "You got one thing wrong. We’re not like a family; we are a family!"
Sisana nodded heavily, "Yes, we are a family!"
Jaste, with an apologetic look, held her hand in return, "I have my flaws too; I’m not good at expressing myself. When I married you, I genuinely wanted a home, but later, I found out you sent people to country F to investigate me and Lowa’s past, so I started ignoring you. If only back then, we could calmly talk things over like today, our child would probably be quite grown by now."
Sisana sighed, "Thank goodness we didn’t discuss those things back then; if we had, my mind wasn’t as calm as it is now, it would’ve backfired."
Jaste looked at her suspiciously.
"Today, I received guidance from two wise people, and it was a revelation. Jaste, you’ve always treated Joyina as a child, but she’s no longer a child; she knows more than I do. Even though she doesn’t speak as tactfully as Lowa, her words strike at the core of my heart."
Jaste paused for a moment, "You told Joyina everything?"
"She knows some things even if I don’t tell her."
Jaste slightly lifted the corner of his lips, "That’s right; before she got married, she used to keep asking about this."
"Lowa knows some things too, but she always says they’re just Tong Airui’s nonsense."
Jaste laughed, "He’s indeed spouting nonsense."
Sisana chuckled helplessly, "You!"
"Fed up with me?"
"Yes, quite fed up! Since you like Lowa so much, and you knew her before Tong Airui, why didn’t you make a move sooner? If you succeeded, you wouldn’t have been miserable for so long."
"Sisana, before, if you had asked me such a question, I wouldn’t have answered a single word. But today, you’ve opened up, and I’ve completely let go. I’ll tell you once; this is the first and last time."
Sisana nodded, "Alright!"
"You know what I was doing before I returned to the country, living in what’s euphemistically called a gray area. For the sake of restoring our nation, I lived on the edge with a group of desperate individuals, always on the brink of danger. If I pursued Lowa back then, I would have harmed her, not loved her.
Later, my situation improved a bit, but then Tong Airui appeared. The people from the Aldridge family strike quickly and fiercely, leaving you no room for retaliation. Lowa married him before she even turned twenty." Jaste laughed self-deprecatingly after speaking, "You could never have imagined, could you, that the person you love is such a useless person."
Sisana shook her head in disagreement, "I don’t think you’re useless. On the contrary, I think you’re someone worth spending a lifetime with."
Jaste burst into laughter, "In a lover’s eyes, even flaws become invisible!"
"So you can also joke with me!"
"It was you who never gave me the chance to joke before."
"We’re old couples now; should we still be considered lovers?"
"Lifetime lovers!"
Sisana leaned happily into Jaste’s embrace.
Jaste gently stroked her shoulder, "Let’s start fresh?"
"Hmm, it was my fault before, sending people to investigate you. When I learned about everything you quietly did for Lowa, I was jealous to the point of madness. That’s what led to today’s situation."
"What I’ve done for her, I will also do for you, as long as you’re willing to give me the chance. Recently, I’ve been watching Lowa on TV a lot; do you know why?"
"You want to forget the past!"
"I never expected we’d truly be in sync." Jaste chuckled helplessly, "Lowa’s getting better, but she’s no longer the lively Lowa that I knew. After watching her for a month, I realized the gap between us is only growing wider. She doesn’t belong to me; why didn’t I let go sooner?"
"Ultimately, it’s still my fault; if I hadn’t been so fixated on these things, you wouldn’t have suffered for so many years."
"I’ve been suffering, and so have you; that’s not what I intended when I married you. Sisana, I’m sorry!"
"Ahem... Actually, I was planning to give you a piece of my mind to vent for my sister-in-law, but after hearing you, I’ve changed my mind; let’s live well. That way, you can gain both love and friendship." Joyina’s voice came from outside.
Jaste froze momentarily, picked up a pillow, and threw it over, "If you dare eavesdrop again, see how I’ll deal with you!"
Joyina, with hands behind her back, playfully kicked the pillow as it hit, "Oh, great lover, got caught off guard?"
"You still dare to come in!" Jaste was about to stand up when Sisana pulled him back.
Joyina looked at her brother, whose eyes were blazing with anger, and smiled, "Alright, alright, don’t I know your little trick? You’re trying to get the first word in, to prevent me from talking about you. Anyway, I don’t feel like talking about you; today’s matter ends here. When tomorrow’s sun rises, it’ll be a brand new day."
"Done talking?" Jaste glared at her coldly.
"Yes!" Joyina tilted her head playfully at him.
Jaste ordered sternly, "If you’re done, go to your chamber to sleep, and don’t tell Lowa a word of what you heard today!"
