Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 782 - 652 I Don’t Mean That Kind of Like (1)_2
An Yang had never been to Xia Wu before, and everything felt fresh and new to her. It was only when they arrived at the Duke’s mansion that she slightly toned down her excitement and followed Denton into the main hall.
The room was full of people, but An Yang showed no sign of nervousness. Denton introduced her to someone, and she greeted each one without hesitation.
"My Yang~!" Zi Xi dashed over and clung to An Yang’s leg.
An Yang laughed as she picked him up. "Little darling, you still remember me, huh!"
Denton playfully tousled her hair. "You two video chat every other day. How could he forget you?"
"True."
"My Yang, play with me?" Zi Xi tilted his little head and asked.
"Sure, what do you want to play?"
"Makeup." Sang Yu ran over and lightly slapped An Yang’s leg.
"Alright, let’s go do makeup." An Yang laughed and went upstairs with them.
"Here we go again with the drawing boards." Tong Airui chuckled, patting Denton on the shoulder. "Have a seat."
Denton laughed and sat down. "Everyone, have a seat..."
Out of the corner of his eye, Denton noticed his sister shooting him a look that could kill. He immediately jumped off the sofa. "Sis, did I do something wrong?"
Yi Luowa let out a sly chuckle. "You didn’t do anything wrong."
"Brother-in-law, I’m scared." Denton playfully hid behind Tong Airui.
"Come over here!" Yi Luowa angrily pulled him out from behind.
Denton grinned mischievously. "Sis, there are so many people here. Let me save face. I’ll chat with Uncle and Aunt for a bit first, then I’ll come upstairs and kneel before you."
Yi Luowa glanced at him, reached out to adjust his collar, and said, "I just wanted to fix your clothes. Look at you, all scared."
"I knew it! My sister treats me the best!" Denton laughed and sat back down.
Tong Yao chuckled. "Luowa, stop scaring Denton. Go upstairs and check on the kids."
Yi Luowa pouted. "Mom, you’re always siding with Denton. When do I ever scare him?"
Tong Yao laughed and lightly tapped her. "Stop arguing and go quickly!"
Denton laughed gleefully at his sister’s misfortune. "No arguing! Or I’ll tell Mom."
Yi Luowa bit her lower lip and pointed at him. "You behave yourself! Later, your dear sister will have a good talk with you!"
Denton pulled a long face and nodded. "Alright, I’ll chat with you later."
Yi Luowa smiled, turned, and went upstairs.
Tong Yao then smiled and asked, "Denton, I heard that An Yang got into university all on her own, without your help?"
"Yep, just two points above the cutoff line. It was a close call."
Madam Jing Ya laughed. "That girl An Yang sure is clever. She barely studied and still got into a prestigious school."
"My mom says An Yang reminds her a lot of my sister in this regard." Denton smiled and glanced upstairs.
Tong Airui followed his gaze and smiled silently.
After chatting for a bit, Tong Airui pulled Denton up to the third-floor study room.
"Brother-in-law..."
"Don’t speak yet." Tong Airui took out his phone and called Yi Luowa.
"Brother-in-law, why are you calling my sister here?"
"To handle you!" Tong Airui faintly smirked. "Honey, come to my study."
"Handle me for what?" Denton looked aggrieved. "Ever since I got here, I’ve felt my sister’s gaze is off. What did I even do wrong?"
"Figure it out yourself!"
Denton scratched his head. "I swear I didn’t do anything! Oh right, when I left home, I left Mom a note. Could it be she didn’t see it and thought I ran away again?"
"Don’t you have a mouth? Everyone’s living in the same house! Couldn’t you just tell Mom directly? Why leave a note?"
"I had no choice. An Yang kept pushing me to hurry up. When we left, Dad and Mom weren’t up yet, so I could only leave a note."
Tong Airui crossed his arms and gave him a once-over. "Keep thinking."
Denton scratched his head again. After a long while, he looked back at Tong Airui. "Brother-in-law, I really can’t think of anything."
Yi Luowa pushed the door open and stormed in, immediately twisting his ear. "If you can’t remember, let me remind you. What were you doing last night!"
"Last night? I didn’t do anything last night!"
"Start thinking from 9 p.m. last night!" Yi Luowa tightened her grip.
Denton clutched his ear and yelped. "Sis, take it easy—it hurts! I swear I didn’t do anything."
"It won’t kill you!" Yi Luowa kicked him and let go. "Quit playing dumb! Did An Yang sleep in your room last night or not?"
Denton blinked. "Sis, you’re making a big fuss over nothing. Kicking and twisting me for this? Is it worth it?"
Yi Luowa’s face darkened instantly. "A big fuss?! You call that a small matter? She spent the night in your room! If Aunt Shui Hui finds out, she’ll break your legs."
Denton almost spat out his drink. "Pfft—Sis, what are you talking about! When did I sleep with An Yang?"
"An Yang went into your room at 9 p.m. last night and came out at 6 a.m. this morning. Plus...plus your sheets had blood on them... With all this evidence, you’re still denying it! Denton, I’m telling you, stay away from An Yang in the future!"
Denton pouted. "Sis, did Mom feed you this ’evidence’? Jeez! To put both of your minds at ease, let me explain. Last night, An Yang came to my room to celebrate her getting into university. We had a little to drink. Later, I fell asleep on the couch, and An Yang crashed on my bed."
Yi Luowa rolled her eyes. "Who would believe that? And what about the blood on the sheets?"
"That was from her period!" Denton huffed and glared at her.
Tong Airui reached out and smacked him. "Watch your tone when speaking to your sister!"
Denton winced in pain and rubbed his arm.
Yi Luowa smacked Tong Airui back. "Who told you to hit him!"
"Honey, I was just trying to help you vent."
Yi Luowa glared fiercely at him.
Tong Airui cleared his throat and cast Denton a sidelong glance. "You sure know a lot for a young man! You even know about periods."
"How would I know? This morning, when An Yang woke up and saw blood on the bed, she screamed about it herself. She was worried it wouldn’t come out if left too long, so she took it to the laundry room. Who knew that’d turn into ’evidence’?" Denton replied, sulking.
Yi Luowa stared into his eyes, half-convinced. "Really?"
"Really! An Yang’s relatives are still here. If you don’t believe me, go ask."
Yi Luowa suddenly broke into a smile. "Alright then, no big deal... Denton, let me ask you something, and you better be honest."
"Go ahead!" Denton huffed and turned his face away.
"Fix your attitude!" Tong Airui raised his foot as if to kick him but stopped after glancing at his wife.
Denton pouted, then turned to his sister. "What do you want to ask? I’ll definitely answer truthfully."
Yi Luowa patted his cheek with a smile. "Good boy! Now tell me, do you like An Yang?"
"She’s alright."
Yi Luowa widened her eyes. "Give me a proper answer!"
"An Yang’s a bit of a scatterbrain. Anyone would naturally like her. Even Mom and Dad like her."
"I’m not talking about that kind of liking."
"What kind of liking then?"
Tong Airui wrapped an arm around his wife and pulled her into his embrace. "The kind of liking like this."
Denton couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "I can’t with you two! I’m going to check on Zi Xi and the others."
"Hold it!" Yi Luowa grabbed him again. "We’re not done here."
