Chapter 691: Chapter 585: Not Happy! (Third Update)

Tong Aino looked at Connie with a drooping mouth, "Mom’s in a rush, she wants us to head to the hospital immediately."

Connie was in pain at the moment, biting her lower lip and nodding.

This time, they truly ended up at the hospital. With contractions coming faster and stronger, Connie knew she couldn’t escape what was ahead.

When Tong Yao rushed over with the family, the doctor informed her that Connie had already opened seven fingers upon arrival, almost making her furious enough to twist her nose.

"I’ve never seen anyone as gutsy as you two!" Tong Yao angrily kicked her son.

Tong Aino chuckled cheekily, "Mom, I’m about to become a dad now. You can’t just hit me so casually anymore."

Tong Yao glared at him, "I can’t beat you to death, huh? What would happen if she gave birth in the car?"

"I had it under control."

"Control, my foot! Did you call your in-laws?"

Tong Aino snorted, "I called. My mother-in-law answered, and when she heard Connie was about to give birth, she stayed silent for ages."

Tong Yao scolded furiously, "They were probably scared to death by you two! Didn’t she say when they’d arrive?"

"She didn’t say. Mom, let’s not mention their family now. I’m going in to keep Connie company."

"Go quickly then!" Tong Yao watched as her son entered the room, then turned to face Long Che. "Should we call Connie’s parents ourselves?"

Long Che curled the corner of his lips slightly, "You decide. I’m not making that call."

Tong Yao frowned and asked, "What’s this act you’re pulling now?"

Long Che cast her a sideways glance but said nothing.

Tong Yao sighed, "In this family, there’s not a single normal one among you!"

Yi Luowa laughed and hugged her mother-in-law’s arm, "Mom, I’m part of this family."

Tong Yao joked, "Mm, in this household, it’s just the two of us who are normal."

Long Che’s lips curled up slightly.

Yi Luowa gently swayed Tong Yao’s arm, "Mom, please call Connie’s mom again."

"Alright, I’ll make the call now." Tong Yao took the phone and headed into the room across the hallway, with Long Che following after.

Tong Yao turned to look back at him.

Long Che said solemnly, "If they dare say anything rude, you just throw the phone at them!"

Tong Yao frowned slightly, "What do you mean?"

Long Che raised an eyebrow slightly, "Nothing. Just make the call, use speakerphone, I want to hear."

Tong Yao was about to dial the number when she put the phone down after hearing this. "Long Che, you can’t use Zhi Lan and Randy as benchmarks to judge the rest of the in-laws."

"I’m not targeting them. It’s what they’ve taught their daughter that irritates me."

Tong Yao gave him a helpless look, "The way you’ve raised your kids isn’t flawless either."

"Of my five kids, can you find fault with even one of them?"

"Pfft!" Tong Yao rolled her eyes at him. "Get out of here, stop distracting me while I make the call."

Lance and Tong Airui were just about to enter when they saw their father being shoved out by their mom. They laughed and moved aside to let him pass.

Long Che snorted, "You two have no heart; your mom bullies me like this, and you still find it funny!"

Lance laughed as he said, "Dad, how could Mom ever bear to bully you?"

"Don’t defend her. What are you doing here? Isn’t the tribe busy?"

"Nothing much today. Da Bao and Er Bao went hunting yesterday and insisted I bring their catch to you. As soon as I got home, I heard Connie was about to give birth."

Long Che laughed, "My two grandsons are more filial than you all! So, you’ve been home—no tantrums from the two little ones?"

"I brought them with me." Lance smiled. "When I got home, those two were being mischievous."

Long Che hurried outside and saw the two little ones sitting in their mother’s lap, being playful. His face lit up with a smile instantly.

"Grandpa~"

"Grandpa~"

As soon as the little ones saw their grandpa, they laughed too.

"Where’s Yao?" Shan Yu wrinkled her little nose as she asked.

Yi Luowa lightly smacked her, "Speak properly!"

"Grandpa, Mama hit me!" Shan Yu pouted and complained to Long Che.

Long Che extended his hand, laughing, "Mom hit you? Then come to Grandpa."

Shan Yu buried her head in her mother’s arms, "Later!"

Long Che laughed helplessly, "Mom hit you, and you’re still sticking with her?"

"Fake hit! Doesn’t hurt!"

Long Che smiled and touched her little face, "If it doesn’t hurt, then why complain?"

"Heehee..." Shan Yu nuzzled into her mom’s lap and giggled.

Yi Luowa smiled and patted both kids on their heads. "Your aunt is going to give you a little brother. Are you happy?"

Zi Yan looked up at his mother, "Happy~"

"I want a sister!" Shan Yu pouted, "Not happy!"

"Next time, let Auntie give you a sister." Yi Luowa turned her head toward the delivery room and sighed. Poor Connie was suffering at the moment.

After Tong Yao finished the call with Queen Marian, she came out smiling. "Connie’s mom and her uncle and aunt have already reached the airport."

Her remark was aimed at her daughter-in-law, but Long Che gave her a glance. Was this her way of refusing to engage with him?

"When the nurse comes out, ask her to take a message to Connie. Maybe it’ll cheer her up and ease the pain."

"Whether she’s happy or not, the pain will still be there," Tong Yao sighed, her gaze softening as it fell on the young faces of her grandson and granddaughter. "Why are you two here?"

"Riding the big car!" Zi Yan raised his little hand and pointed toward another hospital room.

"Great-grandma. Big car."

Tong Yao smiled as she touched her grandson’s little head, "You two, when Grandma comes next time, don’t talk so much. You might end up annoying her..."

"Ahem..." Yi Luowa gave a light cough.

Tong Yao was startled and followed her daughter-in-law’s gaze, then burst into laughter. "Kaikai, everyone says you’re slow-paced, but here you are as soon as I criticize your mom—even faster than lightning! If anyone dares say you’re lazy again, I’ll smack them!"

Maczekai smiled, "Auntie, you know my mom best. Pengpeng still doesn’t speak as clearly as Shan Yu and Zi Yan. Every time my mom brings up the topic, she gets mad—last night on the phone, she even lectured Shanshan and me, saying we’re lazy for not teaching the kid properly. My grandpa said that once she retires, he won’t let her move here."

"Don’t believe your grandpa. He’d love nothing more than to bring your mom over in an instant—he misses his daughter like crazy."

"Ahem..." This time, several people coughed.

Tong Yao frowned slightly as she followed their gaze, noticing Grandpa Tong and Aunt Tao coming in with Pengpeng in their arms.

Tong Yao laughed helplessly, "I really should’ve checked today’s horoscope before coming out. Whoever I criticize shows up!"

Today truly wasn’t Tong Yao’s lucky day. Connie might have just brought her a big healthy grandson, but before she could see the boy, she first encountered someone she didn’t want to see.

Marian arrived with her brother and sister-in-law just minutes after the cries echoed from the delivery room. During the phone call with her in-laws, she hadn’t mentioned Celia coming along, but here Celia was.

Whether she wanted to see her or not, the person had arrived, and she couldn’t afford to be rude. Tong Yao handed Zi Yan to Yi Luowa and went to greet them with a smile.

Marian didn’t seem to notice any displeasure and warmly took Tong Yao’s hand, "I heard crying the moment I got off the elevator. Has Connie given birth?"

"Just now! She hasn’t even gotten dressed yet; Shanshan was the first to come running out with the news."

Marian’s eyes turned slightly red, tears circling in her sockets.

Angelina steadied her sister-in-law and laughed, "It’s a joyous occasion; why are you crying?"

Celia chuckled softly, "Auntie, this is a celebration for the Aldrich family. As for us, Connie’s the one who suffered. And look how quiet it is here. If we hadn’t come, there’d be no one. So of course, Mom is upset!"

Tong Yao still wore a smile, but deep inside, she took no joy from the exchange. Quiet? The entire family was already here, from the eldest grandparent down to the youngest child. This woman—she must be looking for trouble.

Long Che’s face immediately darkened. Holding his granddaughter, he stepped forward.

Yi Luowa hastily signaled Tong Airui with her eyes, and the pair pulled their father into the room across the hall.

Teng Qian noticed his sister’s smile had completely vanished, and seeing Long Che taken away by the others, he coldly turned to Celia and said, "If you know how to speak, then speak. If you don’t, keep your mouth shut!"

Celia frowned and stared at Teng Qian, "Uncle, I don’t like the tone of that..."

Angelina shot her a warning glance, "If you don’t like it, then don’t listen. Nobody asked you to be here. If it weren’t for you forcing your way onto the plane, we wouldn’t have brought you. Watch your mouth—haven’t you made a big enough mess already?"

Queen Marian’s face darkened as well, slowly letting go of Tong Yao’s hand.

Tong Yao understood immediately—this expression wasn’t just aimed at Celia.

"Lance, call your mom in. Shan Yu’s looking for her!" Yi Luowa stood firm by the door, blocking Long Che and Tong Airui from leaving. Long Che grew anxious, shouting loudly from inside the room.

Tong Airui reached out to tug at his wife, "Let me out."

Yi Luowa slapped his hand away. Did he think she didn’t know? Pulling his dad inside moments ago was just a tactic to set himself free to handle that woman outside.

"Connie’s still in the delivery room. For her sake, no one should bother engaging with that woman." Yi Luowa raised her eyes to meet Tong Airui’s, "Enough is enough. Let’s forgive this once—next time she acts up, I’ll deal with her myself!"

Both inside and outside, the atmosphere was painfully awkward. It might have dragged on even longer had Jimo Shanshan not come out of the delivery room with the baby.
