Chapter 683: Chapter 578 Are You Stupid or Not! (Second Update)

Youyou laughed and said, "Sister, look at your little Sangyu. Just look at those eyes—don’t they look so much like her dad’s?"

Yi Luowa glanced down and saw Sangyu still glaring sideways at Youyou. She burst out laughing, "You ungrateful little rascal! Your aunt’s back is aching from holding you up so you can walk, and yet you’re still giving her the evil eye!"

"Annoying!"

"Person!"

The two siblings each spit out a single word.

Youyou practically collapsed laughing, "Sister, you gave birth to two little troublemakers! They’re about to kill me with laughter. Mom told me, ’Watch them carefully—your kids will be just as cute in the future.’"

"Dumb!"

"Goofy!"

Sangyu and Ziyan delivered another pair of quips.

Yi Luowa playfully smacked their little backsides, "Stop talking like that! How are you two getting more and more unruly?"

Youyou pulled her hand away with dissatisfaction, "Don’t smack them! They’re so much fun!"

Yi Luowa twitched her lips, "This is fun to you? They’re downright infuriating! Who taught them to talk like this anyway?"

"Whoever takes care of them influences them!"

Yi Luowa gave her a sideways glance and whispered, "If your uncle hears that, watch how he scolds you!"

Youyou pouted, "He’s not the only one taking care of these two—I didn’t point fingers at him."

"So you’re talking about me then?" Tong Yao chuckled as she walked over.

Yi Luowa turned to Youyou with a mischievous glint.

Youyou pursed her lips and said, "Auntie, you’re the universally acknowledged good person in our family. How could I possibly mean you?"

"Hehehe..." Sangyu laughed happily over who knows what she’d stumbled upon.

Tong Yao chuckled, "I’m no saint either! I’ve done my fair share of mischief too."

"Auntie, then tell us—what sort of mischief have you done?"

"You really wanna know? Ask your grandma later!" Tong Yao glanced at the time and smiled, "Your grandpa and Pengpeng should be here soon—I’ll head outside to greet them."

"Mom, I’ll go instead." Yi Luowa placed Sangyu and Ziyan on the sofa and stood up.

"Fish—" Before Yi Luowa could step outside, Pengpeng’s shout came from the doorway.

Sangyu twisted her body to look toward the door, "Brother—"

"Fish—"

"Brother—"

"Ha ha... Perfect match for the secret code!" Yi Luowa laughed as she went out to greet them.

"Luowa’s home! When did you get back?" Tao Yanran asked with a smile.

"I just got home. Grandma, hand Pengpeng over to me." Yi Luowa reached out to take Pengpeng in her arms, "Oh my, Pengpeng, did you get even chubbier?"

"Fish!" Pengpeng pouted and smacked Yi Luowa’s shoulder, urging her to quickly take him into the house to see Sangyu.

Seeing how impatient he was, Yi Luowa smiled and said, "Grandpa, Grandma, you two take your time—I’ll take Pengpeng inside first." Once the trio of little ones met up, they clasped hands and burst into giggles, "chatting away."

Tong Yao watched the three kids for a moment, then turned toward Tong Jiaqi, "Dad, has Ye Hua called recently?"

"Since Lunar New Year, he hasn’t called me even once!" Tong Jiaqi fumed, glaring at Tao Yanran, "Should’ve never had him!"

Tao Yanran pursed her lips, "He came back during Lunar New Year, but you didn’t show him a friendly face—serves you right he hasn’t called."

Tong Yao stifled a laugh while eyeing her father.

Seeing that the old man was genuinely angry, Tao Yanran softened up and explained, "Ye Hua’s been on a mission lately—when he left, he told me he’d call once he was back. I’ve been meaning to tell you, but every time I bring up his name, you start yelling—so I figured I’d just skip it."

Her explanation seemed to ease Tong Jiaqi’s temper somewhat.

Tong Yao smiled and said, "Dad, just let it go with Ye Hua already."

"Am I the one who’s stubborn? That rascal—he has a girlfriend, but it’s like he doesn’t. We’ve only seen Liu Xinru once, then he never brought her home again. Meanwhile, Rui’er and his brothers have already become dads. I asked him one simple question—’When will you get married?’—and he just took off without a word!"

"He’s prioritizing his career. You don’t need to worry about it."

"Don’t try to justify it! Prioritizing his career? Does his career outrank Rui’er’s or Nuo’er’s?"

"Dad!" Tong Yao quickly cut in when she realized Tao Yanran’s expression was turning grim, "What would you like for dinner? I’ll have someone prepare it for you."

Tong Jiaqi snorted, "I’m already full from all this frustration!"

Tao Yanran shook her head helplessly, "Yaoyao, don’t bother with him. The older he gets, the worse his temper..."

"Where’s your Third Uncle? I’m going to find him for a game of chess!" Tong Jiaqi huffed as he got up.

"Third Uncle and Mom are probably still in the garden. I’ll send someone to check."

Tong Jiaqi waved it off, "I’ll go myself."

With that, he stormed out the door.

Yi Luowa looked up briefly at her mother-in-law, hesitating whether or not she should say some things to her.

Tong Yao picked up on her hesitation immediately, "Want to say something? Rui’er and your younger uncle are close—do you happen to know what’s going on?"

"I don’t know anything!" Yi Luowa smiled and shook her head.

Seeing that her daughter-in-law didn’t want to elaborate, Tong Yao didn’t press further.

During dinner, Long Che and Tong Airui both came home one after the other. As soon as Tong Airui entered, he saw his son and daughter gripping the sofa and inching forward little by little.

"Ha ha... Come on, walk toward Daddy." Fourth Uncle extended his big hands, calling to his pair of children.

Sangyu glanced at her dad, timidly let go of the sofa, and began to waddle toward him.

Ziyan hesitated for a moment before letting go as well.

Tong Airui, seeing them really heading his way, immediately squatted down to catch them.

Long Che smiled as he watched his granddaughter—she was steadier on her feet than she had been earlier in the day.

Yi Luowa followed behind the two kids with her arms outstretched, ready to catch them if they fell.

The two kiddos were almost at their dad’s side when Sangyu eagerly stretched her arms and lunged forward.

Tong Airui was startled but caught his daughter securely in his arms.

Ziyan, seeing his sister already nestled in Dad’s embrace, pouted and stopped in his tracks.

Tong Airui glanced at his son and extended a hand toward him, "You’re a big boy, a man! Don’t be so petty—come over here on your own."

Ziyan grabbed his dad’s hand and took two steps to reach him.

Tong Airui laughed and scooped up both his kids, "Daddy hopes that no matter how busy life gets, I won’t miss a single step in your journey growing up."

"Hehehe..." Sangyu patted her dad’s cheek and reached for her grandpa.

Uncle Che chuckled and reached over to take his granddaughter into his arms.

Tong Airui twitched his mouth, then looked down at his son, "Are you planning on abandoning me too?"

Ziyan wrinkled his tiny nose and laughed, then turned to point at Pengpeng lounging on the couch, "Two!"

Tong Airui was taken aback.

Yi Luowa laughed and translated for her son, "Your boy’s giving you a counterweight—he wants you to carry two kids!"

"Ha ha, alright, I’ll carry two." Tong Airui laughed and picked up Pengpeng. "Pengpeng, your brother and sister are starting to walk now. What about you?"

Pengpeng huffed and turned his head aside.

Yi Luowa laughed and said, "Don’t bring that up to Pengpeng—he’ll get annoyed again."

"Annoyed about what?"

"He was upset seeing his siblings walk. He just didn’t dare take a step by himself and ended up plopping down on the floor in frustration. No one could get him back up for a long time; we’ve barely managed to cheer him up."

"So Pengpeng has a bit of a temper too, huh!" Tong Airui teased, gently bumping his forehead with Pengpeng’s.

Pengpeng puffed his cheeks in anger and pursed his lips.

"Ha ha..." The whole room burst into laughter.

After dinner, Tong Jiaqi took Pengpeng home. Shortly after they left, Mi Chenshuo and Joyina returned.

Tong Airui gave them a serious look and asked in a deep voice, "Have you eaten?"

"We’ve eaten—celebration banquet, been eating all afternoon." Mi Chenshuo helped Joyina into the sofa opposite Tong Airui.

Tong Airui spoke with a stern expression, "What I’m about to say isn’t directed at any one person—this applies to everyone. Family matters can be shared with your relatives, but when it comes to state affairs, you better pretend you never heard or saw anything! Luowa, you especially need to set an example in this regard!"

Yi Luowa quickly nodded.

Joyina glanced sheepishly at Mi Chenshuo, who glared at her in exasperation.

Tong Airui shot them both a sharp look and said in a stern tone, "Of course, I and Mr. Prime Minister will also strive to avoid discussing official matters at home."

Long Che raised an eyebrow slightly, guessing his son’s words were aimed at the third couple.

Mi Chenshuo cleared his throat awkwardly, "Uh, Fourth Brother..."

Tong Airui smiled, "Third Brother, is there something you need to tell me?"

Joyina pouted and stood up, "Fourth Brother, it was me—I told my brother. I didn’t mean anything by it; Luowa saved me once—she’s my benefactor—I won’t let anyone bully her!"

Tong Airui sneered lightly, "Luowa has me. With me around, do you really think anyone can bully her?"

Joyina pouted and looked at Yi Luowa.

Yi Luowa laughed and said, "You silly girl, why’d you bite on that bait? He clearly said he wasn’t directing his words at anyone, and yet now you stood up—he’s bound to focus on you now! Sit yourself back down quickly!"
