Chapter 679: Chapter 575: Parting (Second Update)

The reunion was always brief, and Yi Luowa eventually had to return to Xiawu.

The next day, the family went to the airport. The night before, Yi Luowa had agreed with her parents and younger brother not to cry, but when it was time to actually leave, she and her mother and brother still clung to each other and sobbed uncontrollably.

Emperor Haotian held back his tears and gently pulled his wife out of their daughter’s embrace. "Don’t cry now, you’ll scare the kids. If you miss her in a few days, I’ll take you to Xiawu myself."

Queen Haotian restrained her tears and waved at her daughter. "Hurry up and get going."

Step by step, Yi Luowa ascended the boarding stairs, turning her head with every step. Once she reached the cabin door, she stood there for a long time, unwilling to go inside.

Tong Airui extended his hand to help her up, but Yi Luowa quickly grabbed onto the cabin door and begged, "Let me look at my mom one more time."

Below, Queen Haotian was crying, while Yi Luowa cried above. Tong Yao watched the mother and daughter, thought of her own daughter, and tears rolled down her cheeks too.

Her tears fell onto Ziyan’s chubby little hands. Ziyan paused for a moment, then suddenly turned around to look at his grandmother and exclaimed, "No—"

Tong Yao wiped her tears and looked at her grandson, asking, "Ziyan, what do you want?"

"No, don’t, cry!" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Long Che laughed and patted his grandson’s head, then told Tong Yao, "He’s not asking for something, he’s telling you—Yao, don’t cry!"

Tong Yao’s eyes reddened, and she choked out, "All my love wasn’t in vain."

Huo Li sniffled as she propped herself up against the back of the seat in front of her.

Yi Weiyang looked at her nervously. "Why are you getting up?"

"I’m going to drag Zhu Bao* back. She’s like this, and everyone feels miserable watching."

Yi Weiyang pursed his lips. "Go ahead, be careful."

Huo Li nodded, then walked slowly to the cabin door and reached out to pull Yi Luowa.

Yi Luowa turned to look at Huo Li.

Huo Li sighed deeply. "The way you’re acting makes your parents feel even worse. It’s not like you’ll never see them again—you can visit them often if you miss them."

Yi Luowa glanced back at her tear-stained mother with great effort before finally stepping into the cabin.

As the cabin door slowly closed, Queen Haotian leaned weakly against her husband. "Why does it feel like my heart has been hollowed out?"

"Don’t be like this. Let’s send her off cheerfully." Emperor Haotian patted his wife on the shoulder and waved at their daughter on the plane.

Yi Luowa waved back at them as well.

Tong Airui put an arm around her shoulders and guided her to her seat.

Ziyan tilted his head and looked at his mom sitting next to him, loudly shouting, "Cry!"

Yi Luowa, her tears about to fall in sadness, heard her son’s outburst and burst out laughing instead. "From now on, you must call grandma by her proper title and stop calling her Yao Yao!"

Tong Airui looked at his wife skeptically. "You actually understood what Ziyan said?"

"Who knows where he learned it from? These past few days, he’s been calling mom—Yao."

"Where else could he have learned it? Obviously, it was you!" Tong Yao said as she gave Long Che an annoyed glare.

Long Che laughed as he stroked his granddaughter’s tiny cheek. "Sangyu, call grandma."

Sangyu wrinkled her little nose and shouted loudly, "Ya—"

"It’s Yao Yao! Not Ya!" Long Che patiently corrected her.

"Giggle... Ya, Ya!"

"Ya ya..."

The two children, laughing as they shouted, quickly filled the once somber cabin with laughter.

Yi Luowa, both amused and exasperated, said, "These two kids are such little rascals!"

Long Che looked down at Sangyu and asked her with a smile, "What’s grandpa’s name?"

Sangyu blinked for a long time before clapping her little hands and saying, "Che—"

"Che Che~" Ziyan, seeing his sister call their grandfather, clapped his hands too and followed suit.

Tong Yao teased Long Che with a coquettish glare. "You’re always teaching them nonsense."

"It took forever to teach them to call us grandpa and grandma—they absolutely refused. But when I taught them to call us by our names, they got it instantly on the first try."

With the children’s antics lightening the mood, Yi Luowa felt much better.

As the plane glided along the runway before slowly ascending into the sky, Yi Luowa’s tears finally returned.

She pressed her face tightly against the window, her tear-filled eyes fixed on the shrinking silhouettes of her parents on the ground.

Her mother continued waving, each motion tugging at her heartache. If Tong Airui hadn’t forcibly pulled her away from the window, she might’ve kept watching and crying.

"Shame, shame!" Sangyu raised her hand and scratched her cheek, repeating the word shame as she pointed at her mom.

Yi Luowa turned her face away, hiding from her children.

Tong Airui laughed. "Stop hiding. They’ve already seen you."

Yi Luowa sniffled loudly and said, "If they keep calling me shame, I’ll spank their little bottoms when we get back."

When Sangyu heard that her mom planned to spank her, she grabbed her grandpa’s hand and reached out toward her mom. "Hit, hit!"

Tong Airui laughed and patted his daughter’s little hand. "No bullying your mom!"

Sangyu tilted her head and looked up at her grandpa, her lips pouting in grievance. When grandpa raised his hand to lightly slap dad, Sangyu finally giggled, breaking into laughter.

Throughout the journey, the two kids kept up their lively energy, constantly creating laughs. The cabin was filled with laughter the whole way.

Looking at her son and daughter, Yi Luowa’s heavy mood gradually lightened.

After flying for more than four hours, they finally arrived back in Xiawu, where Mi Chenxuan had been waiting early at the airport with a group of people.

Yi Luowa wanted her uncle and Huo Li to head to the Duke’s mansion, but Yi Weiyang had official matters to attend to, so he took Huo Li straight back to the estate.

When the group arrived at the Duke’s mansion, three pregnant women came out to greet them. Yi Luowa looked at the trio and giggled. "I can’t wait for the day you three turn into penguins."

"Haha... Me neither." Youyou laughed as she walked up. "Sis, why are your eyes so red?!"

Joyina cast a disapproving glance at Youyou. "Do you even need to ask? Obviously, from crying!"

Connie stepped up and took Yi Luowa’s hand. "We know exactly how you feel—all of us have been through it, and you’ll get used to it eventually."

"Sigh... I guess that’s all I can do." Yi Luowa let out a low sigh.

Connie smiled and said, "Stop sighing. Come on in already."

"Okay." Yi Luowa supported Connie as they walked into the hall.

Tong Airui quickly followed inside. As soon as he set his son down, his phone rang.

Tong Airui glanced at the number and quickly headed to the study.

"Speak."

"Captain, we’ve found Nancy’s whereabouts!"

"Where?"

"Inside the R Kingdom royal palace! After Emperor Haotian issued the warrant, the R Kingdom royal family tried to sneak her out of the palace, but for some unknown reason, they brought her back inside as soon as she showed up."

"Are you certain? No mistaken identity?"

"Absolutely certain! Both I and Emperor Haotian’s secret agents confirmed it at the same time."

"Good! Stay put and wait for further orders."

Tong Airui hung up the call with his subordinate and immediately dialed Emperor Haotian.

Emperor Haotian quickly answered. "Airui, you made it home?"

"We’re here. Dad, Nancy..."

"I was just about to tell you about this. I’ve already instructed the Foreign Ministry to demand her return... If I don’t see Nancy here by tomorrow morning, it’s war. Marcus has already begun assembling forces."

"I’ll start mobilizing forces as well. If we don’t put pressure on them, they probably won’t hand Nancy over."

"...Alright!"

The two hashed out specific plans before Tong Airui hung up and called Colin. As soon as Colin heard about the impending conflict with the R Kingdom, he laughed aloud. "Let me handle command for this war! I didn’t get enough action last time."

"It’s yours to command!" Tong Airui smirked faintly. "Start mobilizing—this time, we’ll fight remotely."

"Yes!"

After issuing his commands, Tong Airui quickly left the study and told Yi Luowa and Mi Chenxuan, "You two follow me to the Falcon headquarters at once!"

"There’s news on Nancy?" Long Che immediately asked, his first instinct deducing Nancy’s whereabouts.

Tong Airui nodded. "She’s hiding in the R Kingdom royal palace. My father has already begun negotiations, and if Nancy isn’t delivered by tomorrow, we’ll be launching an attack. I need to meet with others to strategize for the operation."

"You go ahead. I’ll apply additional pressure on them from my side." Long Che said as he swiftly headed toward his study. One Emperor Haotian might not be enough to intimidate the R Kingdom, but if Xiawu got involved, they would have no choice but to fear.

After Tong Airui left with Yi Luowa and Mi Chenxuan, Joyina noticed everyone busy and picked up her phone, heading onto the balcony. She covered her mouth and whispered quietly, "Brother, Nancy has been found... Mm-hmm, she’s in the R Kingdom royal palace... Both Airui and Emperor Haotian are mobilizing their forces... Okay, bye."

As Joyina finished her call and turned around, she was startled to see Mi Chenshuo grinning at her. "You scared me half to death!"

Mi Chenshuo regarded her with a half-smile. "I didn’t expect you to have the makings of a spy."

Joyina puffed her cheeks indignantly. "I didn’t betray anyone from our family, so why are you calling me a spy!"

"Joyina, don’t say I didn’t warn you—when it comes to matters like these, especially official ones, you must never mention even a word of them to your brother. If you end up ruining uncle’s or Fourth Brother’s plans because of this, I won’t be able to protect you if they decide to punish you!"
