Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 488 - 421 Begin Surgery (First Update)
Yi Luowa rubbed her eyes. Just moments ago, she could still see the smiling faces of the two little ones, but now, how did it turn into Tong Airui and Teng Aini’s faces!
Yi Luowa pouted, "Why is it you two!"
"Why couldn’t it be us!" Teng Aini walked in with a laugh.
"I just saw the baby’s face on the glass window, but in a blink, it became you two." Yi Luowa pulled Teng Aini to sit down, "Why are you here so early?"
"Happened to have some free time these past few days. When Shanshan gave birth, I didn’t manage to make it back. If I don’t come for your delivery, Dad will definitely scold me." Teng Aini chuckled and asked, "You said you just saw the baby’s little face—could you tell if it’s a boy or girl?"
"Didn’t get a clear look, I only saw you and your brother!" Yi Luowa smacked the back of her hand, "You owe me!"
"Alright, alright! I owe you, I owe you!" Teng Aini giggled and said, "Sis-in-law, when I saw you sitting on the hospital bed earlier, I thought of the time when we first met."
Yi Luowa pursed her lips and smiled, "Aside from your brother, I met all of you guys at the hospital. I was so unlucky back then."
"Even though you sat in a wheelchair at that time, with gauze wrapped around your head, you still amazed me. But... I’m the type of person who, spoiled by Grandpa, never praises people more beautiful than me."
Yi Luowa laughed, "Looking at me now, isn’t it making you feel instantly balanced!"
"Balanced about what! If I were in your situation, who knows what I’d look like!" Teng Aini said with a grin. "Grandpa and Grandma also came back with me. Earlier, they ran into Mom downstairs, they’re probably still chatting down there."
Yi Luowa sighed, "Grandpa and Grandma are so old already, flying back and forth like this—it hurts just to watch them."
Tong Airui rubbed her head with a smile, "If they didn’t fly back and forth, something would definitely happen."
"True. Once Aini has kids, it’ll be perfect. Let them take care of the kids so they’ll have something to focus on, then they won’t be running around like this." Yi Luowa suddenly heard footsteps in the hallway and quickly stopped talking.
Not long after, Teng Tianxiang and Ouyang Beilei entered the room, with Tong Yao following behind them.
The elderly couple chatted with Yi Luowa for a bit, but seeing that she seemed tired, they encouraged her to rest and went to the room next door.
Yi Luowa stopped Tong Yao, who was about to leave too, "Mom, I won’t be delivering anytime soon. You should all go home. Don’t all stay at the hospital, or after too long, everyone will be worn out."
"Seeing your current state—whether we’re at home or here, everyone would be worried about you. It’s better for us to stay here so we can see you anytime. And I can keep an eye on them as well; it’s more convenient for taking care of everyone."
Tong Yao raised her hand and tucked a strand of hair behind Yi Luowa’s ear, "Don’t worry about us. This entire floor is ours, so living here is as good as being at home."
Yi Luowa pressed her lips a bit, "Mom, Shanshan and the kids are still at home though."
"I had your Uncle and Aunt go back and take care of Shanshan." Tong Yao glanced at the door and whispered, "When your Grandpa comes, he always picks on your Uncle. Sending your Uncle home feels just right."
Yi Luowa burst into laughter, "If Grandpa hears this, you’ll definitely get scolded again!"
"He’s hard of hearing—if we speak softly, he won’t catch it." Tong Yao chuckled and patted her cheek lightly. "I’ll see if I can convince your Grandpa and Grandma to go home too. Take a little rest."
Yi Luowa smiled sweetly and nodded, "Alright, you go ahead."
Tong Yao walked to the door and glanced back at Teng Aini, "Why are you still sitting here instead of leaving?"
Teng Aini pointed at the caregiver’s room and said, "I’m staying in the caregiver’s room. It’s more convenient to look after Sis-in-law."
Tong Yao chuckled, "You’re finally growing up!"
Teng Aini curled her lips, "Mom, I’m already twenty-six. If I haven’t grown up by now, what would that even mean!"
Tong Yao laughed and headed straight for the room next door.
Once her mother left, Teng Aini stood up, "Sis-in-law, how are you planning to sleep? Let me give you a hand."
"Let your brother do it. You go take a break—you just got off such a long flight; you must be exhausted."
As soon as his wife spoke, Tong Airui quickly slipped off his shoes and got onto the bed.
Teng Aini stood by the bedside and watched them for a while. Soon, her brother had transformed into a human backrest; her sister-in-law leaned against him. Though her Sis-in-law wasn’t in the best shape, this scene was warm and harmonious, almost enviable.
Tong Airui’s large hands rested gently on Yi Luowa’s round belly, and he said to his sister, "When Mom carried the three of us, she sat like this for three or four months."
"That’s why Grandma always says: ’You don’t realize a parent’s hardships until you have your own kids.’" Teng Aini added a cushion behind her brother’s back. "You two rest for a bit. I’ll head to the caregiver’s room. If you need anything, just call me."
Tong Airui nodded, "Alright, go on."
The entire family stayed at the hospital like this. Long Che even came over every night to stay. They were like a protective guard over Yi Luowa for four days. Thankfully, Yi Luowa’s health indicators remained good during this time, and the tension eased slightly.
On the 7th, while eating dinner, Yi Luowa started feeling a slight descending sensation in her lower abdomen. She didn’t think much of it and even took a stroll with Tong Airui after dinner.
That night, the sensation grew more pronounced, which prompted Yi Luowa to finally tell Tong Airui.
"Honey, does your stomach hurt?"
"Not hurt, just uncomfortable."
Tong Airui froze in place, unsure of what to do. "...Aini, go and get Old Seven."
Teng Aini quickly jumped off the bed and ran out to fetch Mai Zekai.
Mai Zekai glanced at the clock, "Two more hours till the 8th. Since the pain isn’t here yet, I’ll have my senior colleague begin preparing for surgery. If necessary, we’ll go for a C-section."
"Then quickly go find your senior!" Teng Aini grabbed Mai Zekai by the collar and dragged him outside.
Yi Luowa looked at Tong Airui with wide eyes, "Darling, I’m scared. My heart feels like it’s jumping up to my throat."
"Don’t be scared. Don’t be scared." Tong Airui leaned down and kissed the corner of her lips gently. "I’ll be with you inside. I’ll have Aini get Shanshan too."
"Pengpeng was fussy all night and just fell asleep. Don’t call her over." Mentioning Jimo Shanshan made Yi Luowa feel guilty—Shanshan had stayed overnight at the hospital with her kid to help take care of her.
Jimo Shanshan entered with her lab coat half-buttoned, "Pengpeng is fine. Grandma and the nanny are helping care for him. I’ll go in with you."
"Honestly, you should stay outside. If Pengpeng starts crying, Grandma won’t be able to handle him alone."
"At a time like this, how can you still worry about me?" Jimo Shanshan picked up the fetal heart monitor, "Let me check the baby’s heartbeat first. Don’t be too nervous."
"Okay, I’m not nervous." Yi Luowa reached out her hand to Tong Airui.
He quickly held her hand tightly.
Jimo Shanshan chuckled reluctantly, "In the operating room, they’ll administer anesthesia. After that, you won’t feel any pain. A C-section only takes about an hour—it’ll be over before you know it."
"With the anesthesia... Can I still see the baby being born?" Yi Luowa nervously asked.
"They’ll use local anesthesia, so you’ll be fully aware of everything."
"That’s good." Yi Luowa looked at Teng Aini, "Aini, your brother will go into the operating room with me. When the babies are brought out, you must keep an eye on them. Don’t let anyone take them away."
Teng Aini nodded firmly, "Sis-in-law, don’t worry! You’re the only birthing woman on this entire floor. We’ll definitely keep an eye on the babies."
Yi Luowa gave a dry laugh. She feared something tragic might happen again, so she’d been telling this to everyone—she worried she might even annoy them with her reminders.
Tong Airui gently touched her head with affection, "Sweetheart, this entire floor is guarded by our people. Not even a fly could get in."
"I know, but still, better be cautious."
"We will be very cautious."
Yi Luowa pressed her lips together tightly.
After preparing for surgery, Yi Luowa was pushed into the operating room. Having Tong Airui and Jimo Shanshan beside her helped ease her nerves considerably.
As the anesthesia began to take effect, Mai Zekai’s senior picked up the scalpel, "Duke Airui, we’re about to start the surgery. If you can’t handle bloody scenes, it might be better to turn away."
Tong Airui shook his head, "I’m fine. I can handle it."
Jimo Shanshan sat near Yi Luowa’s head, monitoring her vitals, "Fourth Sis, don’t be nervous."
Yi Luowa gripped Tong Airui’s hand tightly and nodded seriously, "I’m not nervous."
Jimo Shanshan smiled, "Blood pressure normal! Heart rate normal!"
"Good. Let’s begin."
Tong Airui caught a glimpse of the knife moving toward his wife’s belly and quickly looked away. The two of them held hands tightly, silently encouraging each other.
The smell of blood hit Tong Airui’s nose almost immediately, and his heart began pounding recklessly in response.
