Chapter 485: Chapter 418: This Coward! (Second Update)

Tong Airui walked in to find Yi Luowa still working on her drawings. Tonight, no matter what, she just couldn’t fall asleep.

"Why aren’t you asleep yet?"

"Has the baby been born?"

They spoke at the same time.

"Not yet. They sent me back to keep you company." Tong Airui gently pulled the drawing board from Yi Luowa’s hands, glanced at her work, and smiled, "You’re getting pretty fast at this."

"I can’t calm down. If I could, I’d probably be faster." Yi Luowa pouted. "Did you see Shanshan?"

Tong Airui shook his head. "Shanshan went into the delivery room."

Yi Luowa blinked. "Is she screaming like they do on TV?"

Tong Airui reached out and ruffled her hair. "No, Shanshan’s pretty tough."

Yi Luowa bit her pink lips lightly. "I don’t think I could be as tough as her."

"When the time comes, you’ll be even tougher than Shanshan." Tong Airui said as he removed his coat. "Hey, if I send Kou’er away for a year, will you be okay with that?"

Yi Luowa looked up at him. "You want Yuan Hang and Kou’er to go to Western Continent?"

Tong Airui nodded. "I was originally going to send Lao Ba, but he’s getting married in September. He’s still young, and he’ll have other opportunities. So I decided to send Yuan Hang."

Yi Luowa smiled. "I can handle things myself. Let Kou’er go and get some experience; it’ll be good for her future."

"That’s what I thought too. Even without Kou’er for a year, you’ll have me and Youyou by your side." Tong Airui changed into his pajamas and got into bed. "Yuan Hang is just one step away from being promoted to vice captain. I want him to focus a few more years on his career. It’s just a bit unfair to you."

Yi Luowa chuckled. "What’s unfair to me? I still have you and Youyou, don’t I? I’m more worried you won’t get used to life without Yuan Hang around."

"I’ve got you, Lao Ba, and Da Peng with me. I’ll be fine."

"Will it be dangerous over there?"

"With war comes danger, but that’s the kind of environment that builds skill. You don’t need to worry, though — Yuan Hang has plenty of experience, and he and Kou’er will be fine."

Yi Luowa leaned her head on his shoulder and hummed softly. "If you’re not sleepy, stay with me a little longer tonight. I can’t sleep; my heart’s in my throat."

Tong Airui gently tapped her cheek. "This is a kind of training too. In the future, with you by my side, you’ll have to face a lot of things. Keeping your heart in your throat all the time is no good for you."

Yi Luowa paused. "After I graduate, I’m not going to the car factory?"

"Stay by my side and be my advisor. If you’re up for it, you could even take some advanced training courses for a year or two."

Yi Luowa stared at him with her unusually wide black eyes. She had just gotten out of school, and he already wanted to send her back? Too cruel!

Tong Airui had predicted her reaction. Smiling, he said, "Evening classes, three times a week. You don’t have to go if you don’t want to."

"Let’s talk about it later. Right now, the priority is how to give birth to the baby." Yi Luowa nervously bit her finger. She hadn’t even given birth yet, but already her whole body ached.

The two of them stayed up until midnight. As the clock struck twelve, Tong Airui’s phone buzzed with a text message from Tong Aino.

Shanshan has given birth. Both mother and baby are safe!

Yi Luowa read the eight words over three times before smiling, "The baby’s born! Finally!"

Tong Airui’s face lit up with a smile too. He replied with a message: "As long as they’re safe!"

Soon after, Tong Aino called. "I thought you were asleep. Mom and I will head home in a bit."

"Your sister-in-law and I stayed up just to wait for this good news. Be careful on your way back."

"Bro, I can’t wait to tell you something, haha..." Tong Aino’s laughter spilled over the phone.

Tong Airui was stunned. "What is it? What’s making you laugh like this?"

"Lao Qi, hahaha... Our doctor here really isn’t all that. As Shanshan’s baby started crowning, he fainted! He didn’t even manage to cut the umbilical cord."

Tong Airui burst into laughter. "What a wimp!"

"Ask about Shanshan, how is she doing?" Yi Luowa nudged Tong Airui’s arm. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Tong Airui quickly put the phone to her ear.

"Shanshan’s amazing. She’s perfectly fine. She was even chatting with us after leaving the delivery room. The doctor said that with her state, she could be discharged the day after tomorrow."

Yi Luowa smiled in relief. "How’s the baby? Is he chubby?"

"Seven pounds. The little guy is strong and healthy. Everyone says he looks like Lao Qi, but I honestly can’t tell." Tong Aino laughed. "Sister-in-law, don’t worry, just get some rest. I need to go calm Connie down. She’s so emotional; she cried just from holding the baby."

"Go take care of Connie!" After hanging up, Yi Luowa couldn’t stop smiling. "Hubby, tomorrow I want to visit Shanshan and the baby."

"I’ll take you there in the morning," Tong Airui said, laying her down and adjusting her pillow. "Get some sleep, or you won’t have any energy tomorrow."

Not long after, Yi Luowa closed her eyes and drifted off.

Once he was sure she was sound asleep, Tong Airui turned off the bedside lamp.

The next morning, Tong Airui took Yi Luowa to the hospital.

When they entered the room, the little one had just finished nursing and was dozing off in a haze.

Jimo Shanshan was recovering quickly and full of energy. When she saw them, she smiled and said, "What are you doing here? I’ll be home tomorrow."

"I was thinking about you and the baby, so I came to check in." Yi Luowa walked to her bedside and frowned. "Does it still hurt?"

"The pain only lasts for those few hours. Once it’s over, it’s fine."

Yi Luowa pressed her lips tightly together, her expression full of empathy as she gazed at Jimo Shanshan. Giving birth—how could it not hurt? Luckily, Shanshan was strong.

The sleeping little one let out a soft hum. Yi Luowa quickly looked over. "Oh, little cutie, are you upset I didn’t check on you first?"

Jimo Shanshan laughed. "Babies are like this. Even when they’re asleep, they’re restless—crying one moment, smiling the next."

"This little guy really does look more like Lao Qi." Yi Luowa affectionately observed the little boy sleeping peacefully. "Such shiny black hair and well-defined features—he’s going to grow up to be a handsome man!"

Jimo Shanshan laughed. "When he opened his eyes this morning, my mom said that besides the eyes looking like mine, nothing else resembles me."

Yi Luowa chuckled and turned toward Tong Airui. The moment he walked in, he’d been glued to the baby, and even now, he couldn’t take his eyes off him.

Tong Airui wrapped an arm around Yi Luowa’s shoulders and grinned. "He sleeps just like Lao Qi did when he was little."

"You were only born a few hours before Lao Qi, and you can remember what he looked like as a baby?" Yi Luowa teased.

"There are photos. I look at them occasionally; they’re pretty funny." Tong Airui smiled, then looked up at Jimo Shanshan. "Where’s Lao Qi? Still passed out?"

Jimo Shanshan pursed her lips to suppress a laugh and pointed at the door. "He’s been standing out there for ages, too embarrassed to come in."

Tong Airui turned to the door, laughing. "Why are you being such a coward?"

Maizekai shot him a glare and sulked his way in. "Just you wait—when it’s your turn, you’ll be worse off than me!"

"No matter what, I wouldn’t faint!" Tong Airui quipped, his handsome and sharp features carrying a faint smile. "So, how does it feel to be a dad now?"

"Like a dream." Maizekai walked to his son’s cradle and poked the little guy’s chubby cheek. "Humans are pretty incredible."

"You’re the real MVP," Tong Airui said with a faint smile before looking down at Yi Luowa. "Now that you’ve seen Shanshan and the baby, can you put your mind at ease? I’ll take you home now; I still need to get back to Shen Ying later."

Yi Luowa glanced at the cradle reluctantly. "You go ahead to Shen Ying. Mom and the others will be here soon. I’ll head home with them."

Tong Airui looked at his watch. "I’ll wait for Mom and the others to arrive before I leave."

Yi Luowa smiled and turned to Jimo Shanshan. "Does your baby have a name yet?"

"Maizanpeng. His grandfather came up with it."

"It sounds bold and elegant—a great name!" Yi Luowa pouted. "Our baby’s name is still undecided."

"There’s no rush; you can decide after he’s born. Even Pengpeng’s name was just finalized this morning."

"True, I’m not in a rush." Yi Luowa smiled softly. But the truth was, she *wasn’t* in a rush...yet.

Seeing the adorable baby, Yi Luowa couldn’t help but look forward to her own little one’s arrival. For one, she was eager to "unload"; carrying such a big belly every day was really starting to wear her down. And for another, she was curious to see if her baby would be as cute as Pengpeng.

While Yi Luowa hoped and anticipated, the days quietly slipped through her fingers.

Jimo Shanshan was discharged from the hospital.

Pengpeng’s one-month celebration was held.

June 3rd, Yi Luowa’s birthday.

That day, Tong Airui didn’t prepare any gifts for her but instead took her to the royal palace.

It was only after entering the palace that Yi Luowa learned King Muta was going to grant her a title today.

Instead of a material gift, Tong Airui gave her a title the world would revere—Lady Luowa.

Since the founding of Summer Witch, only a few women had ever been granted such titles, and the Alderich family held three of them: Lady Jing Ya, Lady Bi Yao, and now, Lady Luowa.
