Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 479 - 412 Who’s the Little Bastard That Kicked Me! (Third Update)
Long Che glanced at his son and asked, "What’s the matter? It’s just been decided—the week-long visit between Haotian and Beidi." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have known about this." Tong Airui furrowed his brow slightly. "Dad, there’s an unidentified force active along the Beidi border. Could it have something to do with your visit?"
"If it’s related to me, then they’re courting death!" Just moments before, Long Che appeared fierce, but he immediately softened when addressing his daughter-in-law. "Luowa, what did you eat for lunch? Did you have enough?"
Yi Luowa responded with a smile, "The nutritionist prepared my meals—I ate plenty, don’t worry."
"Is there anything you feel like eating? I’ll have someone buy it for you."
"Not at the moment, Dad. If I crave something later, I’ll be sure to let you know." Yi Luowa propped herself up with both hands, trying to sit up.
Long Che quickly shot his son a knowing look.
Tong Airui chuckled. "Wife, don’t get up—can’t you see how worried Dad is?"
Yi Luowa smiled and said, "It’s tiring talking to you and Dad while lying down. My neck is sore from craning."
"Even if you stand up, it won’t necessarily make things easier. Just stay put and relax." Tong Airui adjusted her pillow and helped her sit more comfortably.
"Dad, you should still be cautious on this trip." Yi Luowa, now sitting upright, looked at Long Che with concern.
Long Che raised an eyebrow and said, "To ease your worries, I’ll be bringing along several of your uncles this time."
Tong Yao nodded with a smile. "They haven’t traveled in quite a while—going together can be like a vacation for them."
Despite their casually light-hearted remarks, Yi Luowa still felt uneasy. "Husband, wouldn’t it be better to send additional personnel to support Dad?"
"Dad already has his personal bodyguards. My people can’t openly follow him. Here’s what I’ll do—I’ll have Little Mule secretly protect him," Tong Airui replied, then glanced at his father for approval. "Dad, does that sound good to you?"
Though reluctant, Long Che nodded out of consideration for his daughter-in-law’s feelings.
Tong Yao noticed Long Che’s agreement. Yi Luowa, however, remained unsettled. With a smile, Tong Yao reassured her, "Don’t worry. Those uncles of yours may be older, but they’re not easy targets. Besides, we’re just going—nothing necessarily untoward will happen."
Yi Luowa pressed her lips together and glanced between Tong Yao and Long Che. "If it weren’t for overhearing that call from Justus earlier, I wouldn’t be so anxious. Somehow, I keep linking the two matters in my mind."
Long Che frowned at his son and said sternly, "In the future, avoid taking calls like that in front of Luowa—let her focus on her pregnancy."
"Got it," Tong Airui replied obediently.
Long Che stood up. "Wife, go pack our luggage. It’s cold in those two countries—bring some warmer clothes. I’ll go call the others. Anyone not busy can come with us."
"Alright," Tong Yao agreed with a nod. She patted Yi Luowa’s shoulder gently. "Don’t overthink it. Rest up—it’s just one week. We’ll be back in no time."
"Okay!" Yi Luowa smiled brightly at Tong Yao. After her parents-in-law left the room, she whispered to Tong Airui, "Why not have Old Eight and Youyou go along for a few days too?"
Tong Airui chuckled helplessly, "You’re even more nervous than I am! I guess I shouldn’t take calls near you in the future."
Yi Luowa placed her hands on her stomach and gently stroked for a moment. "Husband, I talked with the babies—they agree with me."
Tong Airui leaned in close, pressing his ear to her belly with a grin. "Let me hear—what are these two little troublemakers saying?"
Suddenly, one of the babies kicked, landing a small blow on Tong Airui.
Tong Airui widened his eyes in mock anger. "Which little rascal kicked me?!"
Yi Luowa laughed, stroking his head. "Both of them took a shot at you!"
"Not even born yet, and they’re already rebelling!" Tong Airui raised his hand high but brought it down gently. "Just wait—when you come out, I’ll spank your little bottoms!"
Yi Luowa laughed, grabbing his hand. "Seriously though, think about what I just said."
Tong Airui shook his head. "No need to think—we’ll just do it your way."
Yi Luowa pouted, "Quit messing with me! If Youyou goes along, make sure to warn her not to cause any trouble."
Sighing, Tong Airui muttered, "That blockhead You! Fine, I’ll tell her—’Do you want to get married? If you do, complete this mission beautifully. If you mess up, I’ll send you back to S Country, and you’ll never see Old Eight again.’ Wife, do you think that’ll make her behave?"
"Xiaosi, you’re such a doofus!" Youyou’s voice suddenly floated in from outside the window.
Tong Airui, frowning, looked toward Yi Luowa. "With a nitwit like her, what can I even do?"
"I’m scolding Mi Xiaosi, not you—what are you so alarmed about?" Youyou quipped from outside.
Yi Luowa couldn’t hold back and burst into laughter.
Tong Airui walked over to the window to look outside, but Youyou had already vanished.
"Sis, I’m coming in!" Youyou’s cheerful voice sounded from the door.
"Come on in."
Just as Yi Luowa finished speaking, Youyou darted into the room.
Yi Luowa asked with amusement, "You were outside the window just a moment ago. How did you manage to get here so quickly?"
"Hehe, climbed in through Grandma’s window!" Youyou winked at Tong Airui, seeing him glaring at her. "Fourth Brother, that Mi Xiaosi is completely unruly—constantly gossiping behind people’s backs and scheming every day!"
Tong Airui’s mouth twitched. "Then why not send her back to the base? It’s not like you need protection anyway."
"No, no!" Youyou waved her hands hurriedly. "I scolded her earlier, and she promised to change her ways."
Tong Airui let out a snort. "Are you sure you were speaking to a person and not a ghost?"
Youyou froze.
Tong Airui narrowed his eyes. "Mi Xiaosi is still out teasing her good friends during their wedding night!"
Youyou edged closer to Yi Luowa, keeping wary eyes on Tong Airui as though expecting him to grab her by the neck again.
Tong Airui glanced at her and said, "I don’t care about your childish antics. What matters is everything I said to your sister earlier—you overheard it, didn’t you? Now I’ll ask you this: on this trip, can you ensure the safety of your uncle and aunt?"
"Absolutely!" Youyou nodded firmly. "Haotian is my territory—I guarantee nothing will happen to Uncle or Aunt!"
"What about Old Eight?" Tong Airui asked, frowning.
"He’s parking the car. After that, we’re heading out to tease some newlyweds!"
"Go get him—I need to talk to both of you."
Getting her orders, Youyou jumped out the window once again.
Tong Airui sighed. "When will she actually act like a proper adult?"
"In public, she already behaves quite well. She only relaxes and lets her true self out around family." Yi Luowa smiled, taking his hand. "Don’t magnify her flaws—focus more on her strengths. She really is a wonderful girl."
Tong Airui puffed his cheeks in frustration. "You just keep spoiling her. One day, if she stops fearing me, she might tear the house down."
"Even if you were to spank her, she wouldn’t cause such a fuss. Youyou is no longer the same Youyou she used to be."
"Constantly defending her..." Tong Airui glanced out the window. "They’re back—I’ll go upstairs to chat with them. You rest for now."
"Alright, go ahead."
Tong Airui left the room, bringing Mi Chenxuan and Youyou to the third-floor study, where they talked for about half an hour. The two then packed light and discreetly left the house.
Afterward, Tong Airui sat at his desk, thought for a moment, and made calls to both Little Mule and Justus. Some events might not happen, but he preferred to plan ahead.
When Justus learned Tong Airui had only just discovered his father’s upcoming diplomatic visit, he chuckled. "What kind of son are you?"
"The visit was only recently decided! Besides, my father doesn’t need my personnel—I just overheard him talking about it at home," Tong Airui explained.
Justus laughed. The two were both high-ranking officials, often engrossed in their own duties, and such situations happened frequently. He understood.
"How’s Luowa doing recently?"
Tong Airui frowned slightly. "Did you ask the wrong person? Instead of asking about your sister, you’re asking about my wife!"
Justus laughed. "No mistake—I’m asking about Luowa’s health."
Irritated, Tong Airui replied, "My wife has me to care for her. She’s doing perfectly fine! Justus, I’m telling you about my dad—why are you bringing my wife into this?"
"Ah, right, back to business." Justus immediately adopted a serious demeanor. "Prime Minister Long Che’s upcoming visit to Beidi—I’ll personally be in charge of his security. Please rest assured, General Airui."
"Great. That’s all I needed to hear to feel at ease." Tong Airui felt reassured and hung up the phone.
The next day, Long Che and Tong Yao boarded the north-bound private plane, accompanied by the six tigers of the Duke’s estate.
Upon arriving in Haotian, the Emperor and Empress of Haotian personally came to the airport to greet them.
It was said that Xia Zhilan, the Haotian Empress, possessed breathtaking beauty. However, the empress was always seen wearing a veil of black silk.
Tong Yao curiously observed her. Her figure was as graceful as a young maiden’s, and her exposed pair of jet-black eyes carried a mix of vitality and faint sorrow.
When Xia Zhilan noticed Tong Yao examining her closely, she politely nodded slightly.
Tong Yao smiled, and the two simultaneously stepped forward into the central area, exchanging a warm embrace.
