Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 458 - 396: Want a Hug and to be Lifted High (Second Update)
Mi Chenshuo and Joyina’s wedding was finally set to take place on Laiwang Island. The credit for this decision went to Yi Luowa, who played three rounds of chess with Long Che. No one knew exactly what was said during the games, but somehow, the decision was finalized.
After pacifying Long Che, Tong Aino came home and started making a fuss again. That guy thought he’d win the championship since Yi Luowa refused to compete in the racing event. But ironically, even without Yi Luowa participating, he still lost.
Yi Luowa sat calmly on the sofa, watching him pace back and forth in the living room. Watching him for a while made her a bit drowsy, and before she knew it, her head tilted, and she dozed off.
Tong Aino grumbled for half the day, but when he saw that his sister-in-law wasn’t responding, he turned around and noticed she had fallen asleep. This made him even angrier.
Frustrated, he didn’t dare to wake her up. Instead, he stormed off into his brother’s bedroom, took out a blanket, and gently draped it over her.
"Wow, you can really sleep! Aren’t you afraid of snoozing your way into becoming a pig?" Tong Aino muttered helplessly, shaking his head.
"Honey, I want an egg tart," Yi Luowa mumbled in her sleep.
"Your husband isn’t back yet!" Tong Aino snorted. "All you do is sleep and eat... No, wait, and bully me on purpose! No egg tart for you!"
Tong Aino straightened up, patted his pockets, and headed toward the door. His sister-in-law wanted egg tarts, so he had to find a way to get some.
Just as he stepped out, Tong Airui walked in.
"You’re just in time! Your wife wants egg tarts, and I’ve been scratching my head about where to buy them."
Tong Airui gave him a glance. "Are you worried about where to buy them, or that you can’t afford them?"
"Would I, the mighty CEO of Zhuoyuan, not have money?" Tong Aino snorted, casually pulling out his wallet. "See? There’s money in here! Bills, too!"
Tong Airui glanced at his nearly empty wallet. "If I were you, I wouldn’t even bother taking out my wallet."
"Hey, bro, how did I end up like this?"
"Too much showboating! Look at all the cars in the garage. If it were me, I wouldn’t give you money, either." Tong Airui put down the bag in his hand, took out his wallet, and handed all the cash inside to him.
"I don’t need it. I’ve got cards." To prove he wasn’t broke, Tong Aino pulled out a few cards from his wallet. "That woman was still heartless enough to not leave me a dime."
"Don’t they all have spending limits?" Tong Airui chuckled as he picked up the bag and walked inside.
"Bro, I’m heading out to buy some egg tarts for my sister-in-law!"
"No need to go. I already got them for her." Tong Airui saw his wife curled up, sleeping on the sofa, and furrowed his brows slightly. "Isn’t it uncomfortable to nap like that?"
"I didn’t dare carry her to the bedroom in case she woke up." Tong Aino followed behind him.
Tong Airui smiled helplessly, taking a small box of egg tarts from the bag. He opened the lid and placed it under Yi Luowa’s nose. "Honey, the egg tarts are here."
Yi Luowa wrinkled her nose but didn’t wake up.
"Honey, if you keep sleeping, the egg tarts are going to be gone." Tong Airui playfully waved the scent of the egg tarts toward her.
Tong Aino laughed, "If my sister-in-law doesn’t eat them, I will."
"Who said I wouldn’t eat them!" Yi Luowa suddenly opened her eyes wide. "I’ve been thinking about them all day."
"Then why didn’t you wake up when my brother called you?" Tong Aino pouted.
"I was dreaming about drinking plum juice, and it was delicious. But then I woke up, and it was gone!" Yi Luowa pouted, taking an egg tart from Tong Airui’s hand and taking a bite. "Mmm, so good! If I could have a sip of plum juice, it’d be perfect."
"I’ll make some for you." Tong Airui stood up and walked briskly to the kitchen.
"Where’s your brother off to?" Only after he left did Yi Luowa react.
"Pregnancy brain doesn’t usually come with selective hearing. My brother went to make you plum juice..." Tong Aino paused, then furrowed his brow. "Sister-in-law, why are you suddenly craving that? You know what they say about sour foods for boys and spicy foods for girls. Are you carrying two little warriors in there?"
"Nonsense! I just wanted spicy-hot fish yesterday—that’s definitely not sour."
Yi Luowa polished off one egg tart and pushed the box toward Tong Aino. "The rest are for you."
"You’ve been craving them all day, and you only eat one?"
"Now that I’ve had one, I’ve lost interest." Yi Luowa reached for a tissue, and Tong Aino quickly handed one to her.
"How long is Connie away this time?" Yi Luowa asked, wiping her hands.
"One night and two days. She’ll be back after her exam."
"Did she leave you any money? Not enough, right? There’s cash in the drawer in my room—take some if you need it."
"My brother already gave me some."
"Then spend that first. When it runs low, take more yourself. Tong Aino, I’m not lecturing you on Connie’s behalf, but all your money goes into cars. Now Connie’s holding onto the big money, and you can’t buy new cars, so you’re throwing small change into modifications and car décor. That car of yours looks like a disaster!"
"I think it looks great!" Tong Aino scratched his head.
"With your taste?" Yi Luowa shot him a look of disdain.
"Honey, here’s your plum juice!" Tong Airui came out with two glasses of plum juice.
"Hehe, thanks, hubby." Yi Luowa took one and sipped it. "Mmm! Delicious!"
"Done with the egg tarts?" Tong Airui sat down next to her.
"I’m full. You and Aino can have the rest." Glowing with satisfaction, Yi Luowa sipped her juice again and said, "Honey, did you see Aino’s garishly flashy car in the yard?"
Tong Airui chuckled, "I saw it. You’re not wrong to criticize—it’s an eyesore!"
"What do you mean no taste? I copied that design straight from a magazine! Studies show that eight out of ten babies love that car’s style."
Tong Airui paused for a moment.
Tong Aino smirked. "You don’t need to say anything—it’s exactly what you think."
Yi Luowa tugged on Tong Airui’s sleeve. "Stop with the telepathy, you two. Watching you makes me anxious."
Tong Airui smiled. "That car’s for the babies in our family. Aino customized it for them."
Yi Luowa pouted. "Aino, you’re already struggling, yet you’re still thinking of the kids. I’ll thank you on their behalf!"
"The less you talk, the more thankful I’ll feel." Tong Aino shot her a glare. "Am I struggling..."
Yi Luowa glanced at Tong Airui, and the two of them said in unison, "I, the mighty CEO of Zhuoyuan—am I struggling?"
Tong Aino rubbed his forehead. "Just looking at you two makes my eyes hurt! Go mind your own business!"
"Haha...get mad all you want! I’m not coaxing you," Yi Luowa giggled. "Hubby, he’s single today—let’s torment him properly! I want snuggles!"
Yi Luowa set her glass down and reached out, waiting for Tong Airui to pick her up.
Tong Airui smiled and pulled her into his arms.
Tong Aino rolled his eyes. "If you want snuggles, you might as well ask him to lift you high, too!"
"Haha..." Yi Luowa laughed and said, "How much did you spend on that car? I’ll cover it. Otherwise, when Connie gets back, you might not be able to explain."
"Why should I report to her?" Tong Aino replied arrogantly. "I’ll leave you two lovebirds here to flaunt your happiness. This single dog is heading upstairs!"
He sauntered upstairs.
Yi Luowa leaned cozily against Tong Airui’s chest, watching until Aino disappeared into the bedroom. Then she chuckled, "Aino’s back looks exactly like yours. If people only looked at your backs, they’d easily mistake you two."
"Connie only made that mistake once," Tong Airui said with a smile.
"When did that happen? You’ve never told me."
"A long time ago. I was in the kitchen getting a bowl of rice when Connie walked in and said, ’Honey, can you get a bowl for me too?’"
Yi Luowa’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. "And then?"
"Then Aino walked in, and once Connie realized she’d mistaken me, she turned and ran out."
"Haha... Silly Connie! She couldn’t even recognize her own husband," Yi Luowa laughed, then placed her hand on her belly. "Honey, later on, send some money to Aino so he won’t have to splurge too much."
"I already gave him some. Let’s wait a couple of days before giving him more, or he’ll just waste it quickly again."
"Just don’t forget."
"Of course. By the way, Old Eight and You are coming back tomorrow."
"I know. My mom called me today and said You is having a lot of fun over there."
Tong Airui pinched her cheek with a smile. In the past, she’d only call Ni Lu "mom" in front of her, but ever since You acknowledged Ni Lu, she’d start referring to her as "mom" even when speaking to others.
Tong Airui understood that it was something Ni Lu said that moved his wife. This time, she truly wanted to acknowledge her as her mother.
"After these three months pass, I’ll take you over there to see them."
"My mom said I shouldn’t fly or travel too much before the baby is born. If she misses me, she’ll come to visit me instead. She’s just scared, afraid of repeating the tragedy she endured back then."
"Then let’s listen to her."
Yi Luowa nodded.
"Bzzt, bzzt..." Yi Luowa reached into Tong Airui’s pocket, pulled out his phone, and handed it to him.
Tong Airui glanced at the screen and quickly picked up. "Deputy Captain Colin, what’s the matter?"
"..."
Tong Airui’s brows furrowed slightly. "Alright, notify everyone. We’ll start a video conference in three minutes."
