Chapter 457: Chapter 395: God of Sleep! (Second Update)

Youyou pursed her lips and smiled, turning to look at Jack, "Uh... does my mom really mean what she says?"

Jack smiled and said, "In our family, whatever your mom says goes, absolutely. But, Youyou, you’ll need to come back with us this time..."

Youyou pouted and looked at Jack with some dissatisfaction.

Mi Chenxuan walked over, raising his hand to ruffle her hair, "Speak properly to Uncle Jack. You are not allowed to make such faces at elders!"

Youyou pursed her lips, "I don’t want to leave you."

"Oh my, our little Youyou has learned to say such mushy things now!" Teng Aini laughed and pinched her cheek, "You’re the princess of Carpenter. You must return to acknowledge your roots. Once this is done, you can go wherever you like."

"But... hasn’t my sister already done it? Doesn’t just one of us doing it suffice?"

"Your sister was only conferred the title of Grand Princess of Carpenter, but she hasn’t done the ancestral temple ritual. That’s something only people with Carpenter royal blood are eligible to do."

"How many days will it take?" Youyou asked pitifully.

"Doesn’t matter how many days. Let Old Eight accompany you." Tong Airui chimed in.

Youyou looked at him happily, "Thank you, Brother-in-law!"

Tong Airui’s mouth twitched, "Call me Fourth Brother!"

Youyou pouted. Fourth Brother was scary; Brother-in-law wasn’t scary. But he wouldn’t let her call him that—so annoying!

The family had anticipated a fierce battle, but the acknowledgment of kinship was settled so smoothly after all.

Long Che hadn’t appeared at all during this time. It wasn’t until Tong Yao went to the study to share the outcome with him that he finally revealed a smile.

"Let’s go to the Audric Hotel to celebrate with their family," Tong Yao suggested.

Long Che shook his head, "Muta called and said everyone should come celebrate at the palace."

Tong Yao laughed, "He’s quite on top of the news!"

"Our father-son duo was both absent from our posts today. How could he not feel uneasy and call for details?" Long Che said with a laugh as he stood up, "Let’s get ready to head to the palace."

"What about Luowa?"

"Muta specifically asked for Luowa to come and even asked me which scents she couldn’t tolerate. Let the child go out and relax, or she might make herself sick staying cooped up."

"I’ll go inform everyone," Tong Yao said as she reached the door, then doubled back. "What about my dear little in-laws?"

Long Che laughed, "They said it’s a family banquet. Bring your little in-law along. I’ll call Yi’s second son and ask him to come, too."

Tong Yao left with a smile on her face.

...

The family arrived at the palace. Muta was meeting Youyou for the first time, and from the astonished look on his face, Yi Luowa immediately realized how much Youyou resembled Ni Lu when she was young.

Thankfully, Youyou hadn’t wasted her efforts learning those royal etiquettes. She gracefully bowed to Muta and Royce, just like she was supposed to.

Royce helped her up with a smile.

Everyone entered the grand hall together.

Tong Airui supported Yi Luowa while waiting outside the hall. Not long after, Teng Aini returned, reporting that there were no unpleasant odors inside. Only then did Fourth Master carefully escort his wife into the room.

Leon, watching him constantly treat his wife with such care, joked, "Your wife is like gold. Mine had two kids, and I didn’t even offer her a hand, yet she still managed to deliver them!"

"Kasha, next time, choose a better man," Tong Airui said with a smile as he looked at Leon’s queen. "Do you regret it now?"

Kasha laughed, "Normally, I’d let it go. But seeing how you cherish your wife, I do start to have some regrets."

Yi Luowa smiled lightly. She hadn’t interacted with Kasha much, but she knew Kasha was an easygoing person.

Kasha sat next to Yi Luowa and whispered, "Later, Bert will bring his girlfriend. Help us evaluate her."

"We definitely need to assess her properly. Bert has had a rough road in love!" Leon said, turning to Tong Airui. "You help take a look too. She’s the youngest daughter of T Kingdom’s Prince Qing—met her just yesterday. If she doesn’t pass, let’s put a stop to it quickly. We don’t want another Lan Ji incident..."

Tong Airui shot him a glance, and Leon immediately stopped talking. They all knew better than to bring up Shiqing’s name, lest they upset Aunt Ni Lu again.

Luckily, Ni Lu was chatting with Muta and Royce, so she hadn’t noticed what was going on over here.

Both Leon and Tong Airui exhaled in relief.

As they were chatting, Bert walked in with a young woman.

Everyone turned their attention to the girl.

She looked about twenty-three or twenty-four, with expressive eyes that seemed to speak. Even with so many people watching her, she remained composed and greeted everyone with a smile.

The T Kingdom princess was quite sociable and handled everything with grace. Ultimately, everyone gave their unanimous approval, agreeing that she was a good match for Bert.

After so many tumultuous experiences, Bert had finally found someone who satisfied him and the entire family.

On Sunday, Ni Lu’s family prepared to return to S Country. Acknowledging one’s roots was a significant matter. Even though Teng Aini wasn’t fond of traveling, she had to go along for the occasion.

With her going, Old Master Teng had no choice but to follow, and the house suddenly became much quieter.

Tong Yao and Yan Zi had been busy these past few days making arrangements for Mi Chenshuo’s wedding. Yi Luowa occasionally pitched in with ideas, but for the most part, she spent her time sleeping.

Tong Airui had counted—on her longest day, she slept eighteen hours.

And so, Luowa earned herself a new nickname: Sleeping Goddess!

While Jimo Shanshan’s belly didn’t show until nearly three months, Yi Luowa’s began to show changes at just over two months.

At night, Fourth Master had no other activities left. Instead, he spent his time staring at his wife’s belly, insisting on talking to the two little ones inside every day before he went to sleep.

"Seen enough? If you’re done, go to sleep," Yi Luowa teased as she playfully ruffled his hair.

Fourth Master reluctantly pulled down her shirt, "Wife, what do you think the two of them are doing right now?"

"Listening to you talk, of course," Yi Luowa said with a smile.

"And then?"

"And then they go to sleep." The Sleeping Goddess’ eyelids were already drooping again.

Tong Airui chuckled helplessly, "Alright, let’s sleep. The four of us together."

"Hubby, Third Brother and Joyina’s wedding date has been set," Yi Luowa murmured as if in a dream.

"What day is it?" Tong Airui, who had gotten home late today, hadn’t heard any news yet.

"..."

He glanced at the person in his arms. She had dozed off yet again.

The next day, before heading to Shen Ying, Tong Airui asked his mother and learned that Mi Chenshuo and Joyina’s wedding was scheduled for New Year’s Day.

"Summerwood isn’t too cold, but the New Year period is still the chilliest. Won’t Joyina freeze wearing a wedding dress in that weather?" Tong Airui sighed and shook his head.

"Let them go to Laiwang Island, where there’s spring all year round."

"Get married there? You’d have to book it far in advance."

"Let them use the glass bridge your father and I used for our wedding."

Tong Airui slung his arm around his mom’s shoulder and grinned, "This must’ve been your idea, huh? Didn’t Dad argue with you about it?"

Tong Yao snorted, "It’s his nephew’s wedding. Would he dare argue? I just don’t get it—what’s the big deal with that glass bridge? Guarding it for so many years and letting no one use it..."

"That bridge is for my sons and grandsons to use!" Long Che said sternly as he descended the stairs. "You haven’t mentioned this to Yan Zi yet, have you? I’ll get in touch with the South Island team later..."

Seeing his mother’s face darken as well, Tong Airui quickly intervened, "Dad, really, is there any difference between a son and a nephew? Let my Third Brother use it first."

Long Che gave him a side glance.

Tong Airui chuckled, "Come on, you only have one biological sister. You didn’t even split money with my aunt. If you back out on something this minor, it won’t look good."

"..." Long Che had no retort for this.

"Dad, if you’re going to be like this, I won’t feel comfortable letting you take care of my daughter."

"Get out!" The thought of being denied access to his granddaughter was intolerable. Uncle Che, for the first time, bellowed at his eldest son.

"Alright, I’m leaving! I’m leaving right now!" Tong Airui walked out with a grin.
