Chapter 384: Chapter 338: Is This Thief a Kid? (Part One)

Tong Yao and Tong Airui searched Yan Zi’s room for over half an hour before exchanging a frustrated glance.

"This one’s an experienced thief." Tong Yao stood up and called for Yan Zi, "You and Xiaotian come in and see if anything’s missing. Rui’er and I will check the other rooms."

Yan Zi and Mi Xiaotian entered the room, while Tong Yao and her son went to the adjacent room belonging to Mi Chenshuo.

Mi Chenshuo’s room was in slightly better condition than Yan Zi’s. Only some clothes were thrown on the floor, and all his photos had been turned face-down on the table. Still, there were no substantial discoveries in Mi Chenshuo’s room.

The mother and son then moved on to Mi Chenxuan’s room. Xuanxuan’s room was the worst off—feathers from the quilt had been scattered all over, and an innocent pillow lay in the middle of the floor bearing distinct footprints. This particular footprint made Tong Yao’s eyes light up.

Tong Airui also noticed this detail and took out a camera to snap several photos from various angles.

"I’ll handle this. You go check somewhere else," Tong Yao said after her son finished taking the photos, crouching down.

Tong Airui nodded and continued searching the room for other useful clues.

A photo album, discarded underneath the desk, caught Tong Airui’s attention. Picking it up, he noticed that more than a dozen slots inside were empty.

Holding the album, Tong Airui walked out and headed straight to Yan Zi’s room. "Auntie, did anything go missing?"

"No, it’s just been rummaged through," Yan Zi said, throwing a few pieces of clothing onto the bed.

"That’s good. Auntie, take a look at this—do you think the missing photos were taken by Old Eight?"

Yan Zi walked over and examined it. "Xuanxuan didn’t take this many photos. When he left, he only took two family portraits." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Tong Airui frowned slightly. "Then can you recall which photos are missing?"

Yan Zi pulled over Mi Xiaotian, who was still tidying up. "Xiaotian, come take a look. Which photos are missing from Xuanxuan’s album?"

"This slot held Xuanxuan’s first birthday photo, this one his second..." Mi Xiaotian flipped through the album carefully. "All the birthday photos before he turned seven are gone, along with a few of his recent pictures."

"Are you certain Old Eight didn’t take those photos?" Tong Airui tilted his head to look at Mi Xiaotian.

Mi Xiaotian shook his head. "Some of the childhood photos were of him naked—he’d sooner destroy them than carry them around. He definitely didn’t take them."

Mi Chenshuo walked over. "Old Four, nothing’s missing in my room either."

Tong Airui frowned again. "Once my mom finishes here, ask Auntie to take a look and see if anything of Old Eight’s is missing. I’ve got a feeling this thief was targeting Old Eight."

With that, Tong Airui returned to Mi Chenxuan’s room.

Yan Zi and her family of three stood at the doorway, looking toward Tong Yao.

Tong Yao studied the scene for a while before slowly rising to her feet. "The intruder was a woman, between the ages of seventeen and twenty-one, approximately 165 centimeters tall, and weighing around 40 to 45 kilograms."

Tong Airui raised an eyebrow slightly, and a figure flashed through his mind. Setting down the photo album, he walked over to take a closer look at the footprint left on the pillow.

"She came in wearing shoe covers," Tong Yao added. "She’s quite skilled—there are no traces left in places where she didn’t want to leave any."

Tong Airui removed his gloves and took out his phone, dialing a number. Once the call connected, he asked in a deep voice, "Is the person you’re watching still there?"

"Yes."

Tong Airui frowned. "She’s been within your line of sight the whole time?"

"Yes. After eating lunch at that restaurant on Yingtuo Road, she returned to the hotel and hasn’t left since..."

"Find an excuse to check if she’s still there," Tong Airui interrupted impatiently.

"Understood!" The subordinate responded promptly.

Tong Airui hung up the phone and turned to Yan Zi. "Auntie, come in and see if anything else of Old Eight’s is missing."

Yan Zi and Mi Xiaotian stepped into the room.

Long Che, bored from being alone downstairs, came up as well. "Any discoveries?"

"I’m waiting for updates. I think I might know this thief," Tong Airui said, glancing at Long Che. "If I’m right, she could be the woman called You."

Long Che was taken aback. "She’s in Xiawu?"

"Seems like it."

"This thief is something else. Of all things, she actually stole Xuanxuan’s box of cartoon underwear," Yan Zi said angrily, slamming the cabinet shut.

"Xuanxuan’s birth gold medal, his footprint keepsake, and the brush made from his baby hair are gone too," Mi Xiaotian said as he rummaged further through Mi Chenxuan’s ’treasure chest.’

"Is anything else missing?" Yan Zi asked with a frown.

"The rest is all here," Mi Xiaotian replied.
