Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 383 - 337: Stolen (Third Update)
Why did you come back so quickly? In the end, it was Yan Zi who answered the questions and clarified everything.
It turns out that as soon as Long Che went over, he started fighting with Ning Mingxi. Tong Yao couldn’t persuade either of them, so she had no choice but to drag stubborn Long Che back.
"I’m just baffled. You’ve been arguing with my aunt since you were young, all the way into your old age. Aren’t you tired of it?" Tong Airui saw that his mom’s expression looked troubled. Feeling a bit distressed, he couldn’t help but grumble at his dad.
Long Che snorted coldly. "You think I enjoy arguing with her? She’s someone who always cares about saving face. Kaikai absolutely takes after her in that! It’s just one hospital—how much could it be worth? That’s Mo Bao’s dowry for Shanshan, but neither the mother nor the daughter wants it, no matter what. Mo Bao begged me, and just as I started mentioning it, your beloved aunt started yapping and cut me off. Only your uncle could tolerate her for this long! If she were my wife, I could smack her eight hundred times a day!"
Tong Yao rolled her eyes at him in irritation.
Long Che stared at her and asked, "Why are you looking at me like that? Did I say anything wrong? Think about it yourself. She and her mother are exactly alike—not one of them is any good!"
"Oh, but you are just perfect!" Tong Yao shot him a disdainful glance. "When Kaikai gets married, don’t bother going. Save everyone the stress!"
After saying this, Tong Yao got up and went upstairs.
Long Che’s mouth twitched as he stood up and chased after her. "Tong Yao, we really need to talk this out. What’s with your attitude? We’ve been married for over twenty years, and we’ve never argued about anything else. Why is it that the moment Ning Mingxi is brought up, you can’t stand me anymore?"
"I have nothing to say to you. Sleep in the guest room tonight." Without turning back, Tong Yao continued heading upstairs.
Quickening his pace, Long Che caught up. Before Tong Yao could push open the bedroom door, he kicked it open first, grabbed Tong Yao who was about to run away, and dragged her inside.
"Bang—" The door slammed shut.
Yi Luowa quickly grabbed Tong Airui’s hand. "Do you think Dad and Mom will start fighting? Hurry up and go mediate!"
Tong Airui shook his head. "Don’t go up and intervene right now. The more you try, the more it’ll fire up my dad."
"Luowa, don’t worry. They won’t end up fighting. Give it a little while, and they’ll be back to normal." Yan Zi laughed and glanced at Jing Ya’s lady. "Your son is something else! He’s always so loud in public, but once the door shuts and it’s just him and my sister-in-law, he’d willingly kneel on durians for her."
Jing Ya’s lady glared at her. "Don’t spout nonsense in front of the kids!"
Yan Zi pouted. "The moment your son is mentioned, you don’t like it. And then there’s my eldest brother—he takes it to the next level, always listening to Xixi no matter what."
Tong Airui chuckled. "Aunt, you missed someone."
"Missed who?" Yan Zi asked curiously.
Yi Luowa extended her small hand and slyly pointed at Mi Xiaotian, who was sitting to the side reading the newspaper.
Prince Charles couldn’t help but laugh at her playful demeanor.
Yan Zi also burst into laughter. "Your uncle isn’t even your grandmother’s son. Besides, he doesn’t listen to me in the slightest. Ever since your uncle entered menopause, his temper’s been explosive!"
Mi Xiaotian slowly raised his head, glanced at Yan Zi, then lowered his head back down.
"I even left out another point—he’s been giving me cold shoulder treatment recently!" Yan Zi, furious, snatched the newspaper from Mi Xiaotian’s hands. "Today, the two of us are settling this once and for all."
"Honey, upstairs!" Tong Airui tugged Yi Luowa up to leave.
Yan Zi grabbed Yi Luowa’s other hand. "You little rascal, you can go, but leave Luowa with me. She’s the only one in our family brave enough to speak up!"
Tong Airui’s lips twitched slightly. "Can’t you calm down for a bit? Grandma and Grandpa are so old now. My dad just caused a scene, and now you’re following suit."
Yan Zi frowned. "I’m not making a fuss. I need to talk to you all about your third brother and Joyina."
Yi Luowa scratched Tong Airui’s palm. If it weren’t for her, Joyina wouldn’t be living in this house. If the aunt wanted to talk to her, she had to listen.
"I’ve told you before—there’s nothing going on between Joyina and Shuoshuo. What’s there to talk about with Luowa?" Mi Xiaotian stood up. "Isn’t the house busy enough already?"
Yan Zi huffed, released Yi Luowa’s hand, and took a deep breath.
Yi Luowa quickly broke free from Tong Airui’s hand to steady Yan Zi. "Auntie, don’t get upset. Just say whatever you have to say."
Yan Zi’s eyes turned slightly red. "Look at the way your uncle talks to me—that’s pure disdain! He never used to be like this when he was younger..."
"You already said yourself that Uncle’s in menopause. People in menopause often have bad tempers. Just cut him some slack during this time. I hear that if menopause isn’t handled well, it could lead to illness." Yi Luowa gently patted Yan Zi’s chest to soothe her.
Yan Zi glanced at Mi Xiaotian with teary eyes. "Please let me speak, otherwise keeping this inside feels unbearable. If something really happens in the future..."
Mi Xiaotian sighed, pulled Yan Zi into his arms, and said softly, "It’s not that I don’t want you to speak, but what you say could turn nothing into something. Let me say it for you instead."
Yan Zi nodded reluctantly, feeling wronged.
Mi Xiaotian turned to Yi Luowa. "Joyina just got overly startled. For the past few nights, she’s been sleeping in your third brother’s room. I’ve talked to him, and he assured me that there’s absolutely nothing between them. He said that once Joyina feels better, she’ll return to her own room in a few days."
Jing Ya’s lady froze. "What startled Joyina?"
"Grandma, Joyina was watching horror movies late at night and scared herself." Yi Luowa quickly fabricated a story.
It was only then that Yan Zi realized why Mi Xiaotian didn’t want her to speak. If the elderly mother knew what had really happened these past few days, she’d be even more worried.
Yan Zi looked regretfully at Mi Xiaotian.
Mi Xiaotian cast her a glance and said nothing.
"Silly girl. So timid yet still watches such things!" Jing Ya’s lady shook her head helplessly.
"Exactly! I told her, but she wouldn’t listen." Yi Luowa’s little furry ears reddened slightly as she lied, pursing her lips. She turned to Yan Zi and said, "Auntie, I’ll sleep with Joyina tonight."
Yan Zi glanced at Tong Airui stealthily. His handsome face, which resembled his older brother’s, was now even gloomier than his brother’s.
"No, no..." Yan Zi hurriedly said several nos in a row. "If Shuoshuo says it’s fine, then it’s fine. I’m just worried because Joyina isn’t yet eighteen, and she’s a princess of Beidi. If anything happened to her, we wouldn’t be able to explain it to her parents. Luowa, you’re about the same age as Joyina. You two share things in common. When you have time, ask her if she has any feelings for your third brother."
"Okay, when I get a chance, I’ll ask her." Yi Luowa smiled apologetically. "Auntie, I’m sorry for causing you more trouble."
Yan Zi quickly walked over, grasped her hand, and said, "Luowa, if you say that again, Auntie will get upset with you. Why call it causing me trouble?"
"If it weren’t for me, Joyina wouldn’t have moved into our house, and you wouldn’t be worrying about this... Auntie, if Joyina truly likes my third brother, what are you planning to do? Will you accept her as a daughter-in-law?"
Yan Zi furrowed her brows slightly. "Joyina is too young, and I initially had my reservations. But your uncle’s words enlightened me—no matter who it is, as long as they can help your third brother move on from his last relationship, I’ll agree."
"Auntie, you’re incredibly open-minded!" Yi Luowa hugged Yan Zi’s shoulders and rubbed her cheek against hers.
Yan Zi smiled, patted her head, and said, "Luowa is always so considerate! I wonder if Auntie will ever have the same good fortune as your mom."
"Auntie, your future daughter-in-law will definitely be better than me."
Yi Luowa successfully calmed Yan Zi and went upstairs with Tong Airui.
As soon as Tong Airui entered the room, he made a serious disclaimer to Yi Luowa: "You’re not allowed to sleep with Joyina!"
Yi Luowa pouted. "Whether I want to or not, she may not even let me. Why are you so nervous? You should focus on figuring out how to smooth things over with Mom and Dad."
"If you don’t believe me, just wait and see. They’ll make up by dinner time."
"What if they don’t?"
"Let’s make a bet!"
"Bet on what?"
"If they don’t reconcile, I’ll give you whatever you want. If they do, tonight I call the shots on what we do, and you have to fully cooperate."
Yi Luowa gave him a big eye-roll. "Not betting!"
"Coward!" Tong Airui laughed and ruffled her hair.
Sure enough, by dinner time, Long Che and Tong Yao came downstairs smiling, and Yi Luowa let out a long sigh of relief.
After dinner, Yi Luowa was just about to find a moment to talk to Joyina when the steward from the Viscount’s Manor called, saying the house had been burglarized. The entire second floor’s bedrooms had been ransacked. Afraid to proceed alone, they hadn’t examined the specific losses yet.
At such a delicate time, something like this occurred!
Tong Airui decided to take people over to escort his aunt’s family to check things out.
Tong Yao grabbed a piece of clothing and decided to tag along. "I’m going to have a look. Maybe I can figure something out."
"Mom, you must be tired since you just got back. I can handle it myself," Tong Airui said, knowing his mom’s skills had rubbed off on him significantly.
"You’d take forever to investigate alone. If I go, it’ll speed things up." Tong Yao strode out the door.
Seeing his wife leave, Long Che immediately followed her out.
Tong Airui turned to Yi Luowa. "I doubt we’ll be back early. Get some rest."
"Do you need me to go?"
"No need." Tong Airui reached out to pinch her cheek before turning to Tong Aino. "Turn on all the surveillance cameras and get Yun Jin and the others to stay alert."
Tong Aino nodded firmly. "With me at home, you can rest assured."
Tong Airui and his group soon arrived at the Viscount’s Manor. Everyone donned shoe covers and headed up to the second floor.
The entire second floor looked like a disaster zone—it was messier than a marketplace. Blankets, clothes, and sheets were strewn across the rooms.
Tong Airui frowned and glanced toward the steward. "The upstairs is trashed to this extent, and none of you noticed?"
The steward timidly replied, "Duke Airui, when the owners aren’t home, we stay in the servants’ quarters in the backyard. The florist discovered it when he came to water the plants."
Tong Yao stopped everyone. "Airui and I will go in. Wait outside for a bit."
Tong Airui took two cases from Yuan Hang’s hands and followed his mother into the bedroom.
