Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 382 - 336: Won’t You Be Hungry? (Second Update)
The young girl walked to the car window, hands tucked into her pants pockets, and looked at Tong Airui, who was sitting in the back. "I almost fell for your trick—giving me a useless check that I couldn’t deposit. Swap it for cash."
Tong Airui gave her a deep look. The dirt-smudged face she had yesterday was clean today, but now it looked like it was painted for a performance. What was she trying to hide?
"I’ll have someone get you cash."
"Now that’s straightforward!" The young girl curled her lips into a smile and pointed at Yuan Hang. "Then I’ll go with him to get it."
Yuan Hang shot her a glare. "Hand me the check; I’ll take you with me later..."
Tong Airui interrupted Yuan Hang in a deep voice, "I have other matters for you to handle. Call over a couple of people to take her instead."
A flicker of an unreadable light gleamed in the young girl’s eyes. She pulled the check out of her pocket and tossed it into the car window. "After you get the money, send someone to drop me off at the hotel..."
"Do you ever stop being so demanding?" Yuan Hang yelled in frustration. "If you can come on your own, then go back on your own. I don’t have time to humor you!"
The young girl slightly narrowed her eyes. "I came here because I don’t have a penny to my name. On the way back, I’ll be holding 150,000 in cash—I’d be worried about getting robbed."
Tong Airui shot her a penetrating look. "With your skills, are you seriously afraid of being robbed?"
The young girl gave him a sideways glance. "I know a bit of martial arts; it’s enough for scaring people. But if I were to face a real expert, I wouldn’t stand a chance."
"Step aside. In three minutes, I’ll send someone to pick you up and take you to get the money." With that, Tong Airui pressed the car window button, his expression blank.
Yuan Hang didn’t bother paying attention to whether she moved aside or not. He floored the gas pedal, and the car sped into the compound, followed closely by two security vehicles.
Halfway there, Tong Airui got out of the car and handed a bank card to one of the subordinates. "You and Aqing go together and withdraw 150,000 for that girl outside. No matter what she asks for, try your best to meet her needs. Also, make sure to pay attention to your own safety. Once you’re back, don’t let the car enter the camp compound, and ensure you don’t have anything unnecessary on you before coming inside."
"Understood!" The two subordinates responded and boarded the car.
Yuan Hang was just about to speak when Tong Airui took out his phone and called another subordinate. "Send a few sharp-eyed people..."
Seeing Tong Airui arrange for people to tail the girl, Yuan Hang’s face lit up with a grin. Damn girl—hopefully, you’re innocent; otherwise, I’ll make you pay!
After Tong Airui hung up the phone, Yuan Hang asked suspiciously, "Master, how did you come to suspect her?"
"Don’t worry about how I came to suspect her. Just be careful; she seems to hold a grudge against you." Tong Airui pulled the car door open and got in.
Yuan Hang thought for a moment. As far as he could remember, he had only met that annoying girl for the first time yesterday. Where could the grudge have come from?
Two hours later, the people sent to withdraw the money thoroughly checked themselves to ensure they weren’t carrying anything additional before entering the camp compound.
Although the car had been left at the car wash, when the two returned, the vehicle underwent a thorough inspection. Nothing extra was found inside the car either.
Tong Airui frowned slightly. Could it be that he was overthinking?
As Tong Airui continued to mull over it, the team assigned to monitor the young girl called.
"Master, she left the hotel and bought half a truckload of food. Then she went to Yingtuo Road to see a little boy. The family adults seem to not know her, but she and the boy were having a lot of fun together. The boy kept calling her Sister Aoshuo."
"Is she still there now?"
"Yes, she promised to stay for lunch."
"Keep monitoring—make sure she doesn’t discover you."
"Understood!"
Tong Airui hung up and looked at Yuan Hang standing across from him. "Can you take care of those panda eyes first?"
"Didn’t you say you had a task for me? I’ll complete it first, then deal with my eyes."
"Your task is to clean yourself up!" Tong Airui snapped, waving him off in annoyance. "Get out of here—stop being an eyesore."
"Another nerve out of sync..." Yuan Hang muttered as he walked out the door.
Tong Airui rubbed his temples—every day felt like a chaotic opera. He wondered when peace would finally arrive.
Yi Luowa finished her lesson and rushed over as quickly as possible. Tong Airui, who had been gloomy all morning, finally brightened upon seeing his wife.
To think of it, Yi Luowa had been at the camp for a while, but she had never eaten in the cafeteria before. Just as Tong Airui had anticipated, the moment she entered, the cafeteria erupted into cheers. Everyone stood, and the thunderous applause nearly shook the ceiling.
Tong Airui glanced at his smiling wife. She seemed completely unfazed by the attention.
He took her hand and briskly led her into a private room.
"Everyone, sit down!" Someone shouted, and the applause outside immediately ceased.
Yi Luowa peeked through the door crack and saw three or four elderly officers walking toward their room. She quickly ran back to Tong Airui’s side.
Tong Airui chuckled and tousled her hair. "Is that Colin and the others?"
Yi Luowa nodded.
"You’ll see them often in the future—I specifically invited them here so everyone could get acquainted."
"What if I don’t get enough to eat?" Yi Luowa pouted.
"You, not getting enough to eat?" Tong Airui teased.
Though Colin was even older than Long Che, he was considered a junior in the ranking within the group. As such, he and his companions stood outside and called out, "Reporting!" Tong Airui responded, "Come in!" Only then did they enter.
Yi Luowa knew that these men were highly valued by Tong Airui. Without waiting for them to greet her, she warmly invited them to sit down and personally poured tea for each of them.
Yi Luowa’s poise and grace deeply comforted the older officers, who had been concerned that the young Duchess—untrained in the ways of aristocratic refinement—might inadvertently lead their young commander astray. Yet, after this meal, their perceptions changed entirely.
Though Yi Luowa was young, her manner was exceptionally elegant and her humor charming. Being with her seemed to banish any trace of worry. This was most evident in the radiant smile on Tong Airui’s face.
After lunch, Yi Luowa followed Tong Airui back to the office, immediately proclaiming that she hadn’t eaten enough.
Tong Airui lovingly ruffled her hair. "You did so well today! I had someone bring you lots of your favorite snacks; they’re all in the bedroom."
Yi Luowa gleefully ran to the bedroom, where she found a bag full of her favorite treats on the coffee table. She picked out her favorite and started munching on the sofa.
"Honey, do you want some?"
"No, you finish them. Rest for a while after eating, and I’ll wake you when it’s time." Tong Airui sat at his desk, reviewing documents.
"Aren’t you going to rest?" Yi Luowa called from the doorway, peeking her head out to look at him.
Tong Airui shifted his gaze from the documents to her face. "If I sleep, you’ll have no chance to rest."
Yi Luowa giggled and said, "Then you better stay awake. Honey..."
"Hmm? Want me to keep you company?" Tong Airui saw her hesitation and smirked mischievously.
"No! I just wanted to let you know—did you hear that Yuan Hang and Yun Jin got into a fight?"
"They’re probably over it by now," Tong Airui said with a smile. "You don’t need to worry about them. Their bond is just like ours. Oh, speaking of Yuan Hang—he told me today that he wants to marry Kou’er. What do you think about that?"
Yi Luowa froze for a moment, then burst out laughing. "Definitely legit! Kou’er likes Yuan Hang too. On the way here, she told me to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn’t find a girlfriend."
Tong Airui chuckled. "Should we help them tear down this wall of hesitation?"
"You said it! Men need to take the initiative—there’s no way Kou’er should be the one to say it."
Tong Airui nodded. "Alright, I’ll talk to him."
When Tong Airui brought it up with Yuan Hang, the latter happened to be with Kou’er. After hearing Tong Airui, Yuan Hang sighed. "Leader, you’re too late..." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Tong Airui paused. "What’s happened?"
"If you had said it earlier, I could’ve kept her guessing and made her chase me. But now I’ve already confessed..."
"Get lost!" Tong Airui grumbled and hung up the phone, turning to Yi Luowa, who had come closer. "That guy couldn’t wait—he confessed to Kou’er himself."
Yi Luowa chuckled. "Another worry resolved."
After saying this, Yi Luowa returned to the bedroom. She took a brief nap, then accompanied Tong Airui to a social event. The event turned out well, matching six couples.
Feeling pleased, Tong Airui decided to send Yuan Hang off with Kou’er in one car while he drove Yi Luowa home himself.
As soon as they entered the house, they saw Tong Yao and Long Che sitting in the living room. Tong Airui glanced at his father in confusion—they were supposed to return in three days. Why had they come back early?
