Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 379 - 334: Enemies from a Previous Life (Third Update)
Yuan Hang got hit, and everyone present froze in shock. The one who reacted the most was Kou’er. Holding the little boy in one arm, she grabbed the little girl’s collar with the other.
"Get down here!" Kou’er’s face turned bright red with anger as she yelled, "What gives you the right to hit someone!"
The little girl twisted her arm backwards, grabbing Kou’er’s wrist, and just as she was about to put some force into it, she caught sight of Tong Airui watching her out of the corner of her eye. She immediately eased up and started shouting, "You’re choking me! Let go... cough, cough..."
The little boy in Kou’er’s arms began to bawl loudly in fright.
Yi Luowa frowned and took the child from Kou’er’s arms. This time, she didn’t stop Kou’er, mainly because after Yuan Hang got slapped, she had developed a certain impression of this little girl.
Seeing that no one stopped her, Kou’er used both hands and yanked the girl off the vehicle.
"What gives you the right to hit someone!" Kou’er roared furiously.
The little girl looked quite aggrieved, pouting as tears streamed down her face. "He stared at my chest the moment he got up here."
Yuan Hang, leaning halfway out of the vehicle and holding onto the door, retorted, "Do you even have a chest?"
The little girl burst into even louder sobs. "See! I told you he was staring! If he wasn’t staring, how would he know I don’t have one?"
Yuan Hang’s eyes darkened even further. That slap had done him in; his ear was still ringing. But as a grown man, he couldn’t possibly go head-to-head with a young girl.
Tong Airui frowned slightly and got into his car without a word.
"You’re disgusting!" Kou’er shot a fierce glare at Yuan Hang before turning to shout at the little girl, "If he stares at you, you just hit him?" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Not only did I hit him, I wanted to gouge his eyes out too!" The little girl huffed, twisting her body to shake off Kou’er’s grip and succeeding in one swift move.
Kou’er froze, as did Yuan Hang. How did she do that? Just like that, she slipped right out of it.
"You..." Kou’er looked at her suspiciously.
The little girl giggled, "Not only have I practiced Iron Sand Palm, I’ve also trained in Lingbo Micro-step. Ha ha ha... Are you scared now? Big guy, you better watch out! If you dare look at me again, I’ll gouge your eyes out!"
Tong Airui returned rather quickly. Seeing her gloating, he shoved a check into her hands with a stern expression.
The little girl pouted and, without even glancing at the amount, used the check to fan herself as she limped away.
Watching her walk off just like that, Yi Luowa moved her lips as if to say something.
Tong Airui shook his head at her.
Yi Luowa pressed her lips tightly together and swallowed her words.
"Embarrassing!" Tong Airui looked disdainfully at the still-dazed Yuan Hang.
Yuan Hang’s mouth and eyes twitched, "I really didn’t look at her. She’s just a kid who hasn’t even developed yet..."
"If you didn’t look, how do you know she hasn’t developed?" Kou’er huffed angrily as she climbed into the car, tossing out the little girl’s half-a-pant leg that had been left behind. Unfortunately for Yuan Hang, it seemed to have a mind of its own and flew straight at him.
Yuan Hang let out a sigh as he caught the pant leg. "Who did I offend to deserve this?"
In the distance, the sound of police sirens could be heard. Tong Airui turned to Yi Luowa and said, "Hand the child over to Kou’er and let her and Huzi deal with the situation here. You ride back with me. As for your car, don’t drive it tomorrow; swap it for another one. And remember, no matter who it is, don’t let them ride in your car from now on."
Yi Luowa nodded, understanding that Tong Airui had her best interests in mind.
Kou’er ran over and took the child from Yi Luowa’s arms. "Sir, should we drive this car home?"
"Clean it first. Only bring it back once you’re sure there’s nothing extra inside." After giving his instructions, Tong Airui pulled Yi Luowa into the car.
Yuan Hang casually tossed the pant leg into a trash can and quickly climbed into the car.
Kou’er curled her lip in disdain. "Tch, staring at such a dirty little brat until your eyes went blank—serves you right to get hit!"
Huzi chuckled beside her, "Kou’er, are you jealous? I think I smell vinegar!"
"None of you men are any good!" Kou’er barked fiercely.
Huzi laughed, "Kou’er, there’s a mixer at the camp tomorrow. Are you going?"
"Why would I go?" Kou’er shot him a glare.
With a sly grin, Huzi said, "This mixer’s organized by Fourth Master for single folks like us. It’s basically a matchmaking event. Yuan Hang is in such high demand—aren’t you going to keep an eye on him?"
"Keep an eye on him?! Why would I keep an eye on him?" Kou’er snorted, but her eyes darted toward Yuan Hang.
By now, Yuan Hang had already started the engine. Seeing Kou’er look his way, he honked the horn and drove off.
Kou’er pouted and got into the car, carrying the little boy.
In the car, Yuan Hang held back for about five minutes before finally blurting, "Sir, I really didn’t look at that brat."
Tong Airui let out a cold laugh. "You’d better shut up. The more you explain, the worse it sounds! That girl just now—stay as far away from her as possible if you see her again; she’s no ordinary person."
"Sir, you noticed too!" Yuan Hang glanced at the rearview mirror. "When she slapped me earlier, I just felt the pain and didn’t think much of it. But when she twisted out of Kou’er’s grip so easily, I realized she must be trained."
"I have a feeling the slap she gave you carried a deep grudge." Tong Airui frowned.
Yi Luowa glanced at him and reached over to rub his furrowed brow. "Don’t overthink it. Someone who risks their life to save a child can’t be all bad."
Tong Airui pulled her hand down and held it tightly in his. "It’s better to stay away from people whose motives are unclear. Luckily, she was easy to deal with—gave her some money, and off she went."
"She doesn’t seem like someone who lacks money. Everything she was wearing was limited edition." Yi Luowa puffed out her cheeks. "Hubby, you need to relax. If you stay on edge for too long, I’m afraid you’ll end up with a nervous breakdown."
"Alright, I’ll listen to you. By the way, there’s a mixer tomorrow. Do you want to go?"
"Is it fun?" Yi Luowa’s interest seemed lackluster.
"If you don’t feel like going, then forget it. I mainly wanted you to help Yuan Hang find someone suitable."
Yi Luowa’s curiosity was piqued. "Find someone suitable? For what?"
Tong Airui smiled and patted her hand. "Find him a girlfriend."
"Ah! So this mixer is basically a matchmaking event! Alright, I’ll go!" Yi Luowa grinned at Yuan Hang. "Yuan Hang, what kind of girl are you looking for?"
Yuan Hang cleared his throat awkwardly. "I’d rather not say—I’ll probably get hit if I do."
Tong Airui cast him a sidelong glance. "Then you’d better keep your mouth shut."
Yi Luowa playfully slapped Tong Airui’s leg. "Stop interrupting! I’m asking Yuan Hang. If I don’t know his preferences, how can I help him find someone?"
Tong Airui grinned. "His ideal woman would have your looks, Ai Ni’s height, and our mom’s personality. Good luck finding that for him."
Yi Luowa pouted. "So I’m only 33.3% perfect in Yuan Hang’s eyes?"
Tong Airui chuckled as he ruffled her hair. "To me, you’re 100% perfect."
Yuan Hang burst out laughing. "Yi Luowa, don’t listen to him stirring things up—he’s making me sound bad. In my eyes, you’re 200% perfect, my ultimate goddess!"
Yi Luowa giggled, "Now that’s more like it!"
All the way back, Yuan Hang and Yi Luowa bantered playfully, and Tong Airui found himself smiling as he listened. With these two lively companions around, even the foulest mood could be lightened.
Just before dinner, Kou’er returned with a stiff expression.
Yi Luowa asked with a grin, "Who’s gotten on your nerves this time?"
Kou’er puffed up her cheeks in anger. "The kid’s parents! They almost drove me insane! While their kid wandered off, they were napping at home, completely oblivious. If someone hadn’t recognized their child, they wouldn’t have even known he was missing. And I had to wait forever because of them."
Tong Airui looked up from his newspaper and asked, "Did the car have anything extra in it?"
Kou’er shook her head. "Nope. I checked it twice—found nothing."
Tong Airui nodded and went back to reading his newspaper.
When did he get so into reading the newspaper? Yi Luowa shot him a suspicious glance. Noticing her gaze, Tong Airui quickly folded the paper. "I’ll head to the study. Call me when it’s time to eat."
Yi Luowa pouted. "So secretive!"
"I have no secrets from you," Tong Airui said with a smile as he headed upstairs.
Yi Luowa rolled her eyes and then turned to Kou’er. "What did the kid’s parents say? They didn’t blame us, did they?"
"No, not at all. They were super grateful! I offered them money, but they wouldn’t take it; instead, they tried to give me money."
"Good, then I’m relieved... You didn’t take the money, right?" Yi Luowa smiled as she asked.
Kou’er patted her pocket with a grin. "I took it! Planning to stash it away for my personal savings."
"How cheeky!" Yuan Hang walked in, holding a file folder. He scolded Kou’er, "Don’t talk to the young madam like that again. And return the money immediately."
Kou’er shot him a glare. "You actually believed me when I said I took the money? I was just joking to cheer Yi Luowa up! You accuse me of being impolite, but you’re way worse when you talk to the boss!"
"You’ve got some nerve! Keep it up, and I’ll send you back to the base. Look at Qing’er—she never talks to the second young madam like that!"
Yi Luowa chuckled softly and said, "Cut it out, Yuan Hang. Don’t act all serious in front of me."
Yuan Hang immediately dropped his act, laughing as he replied, "You and the boss have spoiled me; I couldn’t act serious now, even if I wanted to. Speaking of which, I’ve got the document the boss asked for."
Yi Luowa pointed upstairs. "Third-floor study."
"I’ll take it up then," Yuan Hang said, bounding up the stairs. Midway, he paused and turned back toward Kou’er. "Be more mindful in the future—stop acting so out of line!"
Kou’er replied by turning her back to him in mock defiance.
Yi Luowa shook her head with a wry smile. These two were at each other’s throats every time they met—they were probably mortal enemies in a past life.
Once Yuan Hang’s footsteps faded, Kou’er turned back and quietly asked, "Yi Luowa, are we heading to the camp tomorrow?"
