Chapter 330: Chapter 298: What’s Causing the Scene? (Third Update)

Yi Luowa pouted and dialed Joyina’s number.

"Luowa sis, you finally remembered me!" Joyina puffed out her cheeks in discontent.

Yi Luowa furrowed her brows and asked, "Yina, I heard you’ve got my third brother held up at your place?"

"Yep! Before I took him, I called you, but you didn’t pick up, so I just went with my own heart." Joyina replied nonchalantly.

Yi Luowa glanced at Tong Airui. During those few days she was sick, her phone had been confiscated by him. Thinking back, it must’ve been then when Joyina tried calling her.

"I was sick during those days, didn’t have my phone with me. Yina, if I had answered your call, what were you planning to say?" Yi Luowa couldn’t quite figure out what Joyina was thinking, so she decided to probe a little.

"You were sick? Was it serious? Boohoo... Benefactor, I forbid you to fall ill!"

Yi Luowa groaned wearily, "Why are you crying! I’m not dead yet!"

"Boohoo... I haven’t even repaid you yet. Oh, right! Did you see the bank cards I left in the drawer of your study? Two cards—one’s yours, the other’s Holly sis’s. Use that money to buy yourself something delicious."

Yi Luowa frowned slightly, "When did you leave two cards behind?"

"That’s not important. Just remember to buy something good, you need to take care of yourself!"

Yi Luowa shook her head helplessly. "Yina, if I take your advice and accept that card, could you listen to me as well and let my third brother go? My aunt’s been crying her eyes out; you’re such a kind-hearted girl, surely you can’t bear to see an elder in tears, right?"

"His mom’s been crying?" Joyina scrunched her nose. "Tell her not to cry; I swear I won’t do anything to Mi Chenshuo. Luowa sis, why is Mi Chenshuo so stubborn? I just want to be his assistant—I don’t even need a salary for it—but he flat-out refuses. I’m determined to make him take me to Xiawu; otherwise, I won’t let him go back."

"Why are you so fixated on being his assistant?"

"It’s fun! Tagging along with him means I get to visit film sets, watch them make movies, and see tons of big stars."

Yi Luowa’s lips twitched. Could it be that she and Ai Ni had misunderstood, and Joyina wasn’t interested in her third brother romantically, but was just after the fun? 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"That’s all you want?"

Joyina pouted, "Yep, just that."

"Then let my third brother come back. I can fulfill that for you too."

Joyina shook her head persistently. "How could you fulfill it?"

"I can take you to film sets; I can also get autographs from the stars for you."

"No way. If I don’t leave with Mi Chenshuo, my dad will lock me up again."

Yi Luowa suddenly found the crux of the problem and said, "Yina, if your dad won’t let you leave, even if my third brother agrees, he wouldn’t be able to take you away!"

Joyina whimpered, "My dad said that as long as Mi Chenshuo agrees to take me, he’ll let me go. But Mi Chenshuo just flat-out refuses to take me! It’s infuriating!"

"Your dad really is something. Doesn’t want to play the villain himself, so he’s making my third brother play the bad guy!" Yi Luowa said angrily, "Joyina, I’m really mad right now! More pissed off than you! If I don’t see my third brother come back by tomorrow morning, then we’re no longer friends!"

Yi Luowa hung up the phone angrily.

Tong Airui looked at her with amusement. "You’re really throwing a tantrum now?"

Yi Luowa was so angry she almost slammed the table, "Joyina’s dad is being outrageous. If he doesn’t want his daughter to go out, he shouldn’t use my third brother as a shield! And saying he’ll agree if my third brother agrees; who knows how he’s threatening him behind the scenes!"

Tong Airui gently rubbed her head. "How about we let dad talk to the old man in Beidi?"

"Let Joyina make her dad suffer for a while first!" Yi Luowa pouted. "He scared Aunt into crying, so he shouldn’t get off easily either!"

Tong Airui chuckled and pulled her up. "The Beidi king won’t do anything to your third brother. Don’t be mad anymore; let’s go upstairs and check on Aunt."

Yi Luowa followed Tong Airui upstairs.

Yan Zi quickly spoke up when she saw them enter, "Luowa, I heard from Ni’er that you called that Joyina? What did she say?"

"Aunt, don’t worry about my third brother; she has no malicious intentions towards him. She just wants to have some fun, but her dad won’t let her out, so now they’re both using my third brother as leverage..."

Yi Luowa simplified Joyina’s words for her.

Tong Yao’s expression turned grim upon hearing Yi Luowa’s explanation. "Those two are grinding their teeth over there; why drag Shuoshuo into it! I’m going to find your dad and ask him to call Beidi king."

"Mom, tell dad to make the call twenty minutes later, let those two duke it out a bit longer first!"

Tong Yao nodded. "We haven’t been able to get in touch with your third brother, which is why your aunt has been so upset. Now that we know he’s fine, a delay of a few minutes for the call won’t hurt."

Tong Aino ambled over after his mom left. "Sis-in-law, that Joyina wants to be third brother’s assistant—she’s only doing this for fun, nothing else?"

Yi Luowa nodded. "At first, I also thought she was into my third brother, but after chatting with her for a bit, there wasn’t a hint of that kind of thought in her."

"If she did have that thought, we wouldn’t dare accept a kid like her! I was scared to death; she just kidnaps people like it’s nothing!" Yan Zi wiped the tears from her eyes with a tissue. "When your grandparents come home later, don’t mention this at all; we don’t want them worrying unnecessarily."

"Grandpa and Grandma aren’t home?" Yi Luowa noticed that Yan Zi hadn’t cleaned her tears properly, so she grabbed a tissue to help her.

"They went to your big brother’s place to pick up Dabo and Erbao. They’ll probably be back soon."

Just as Yan Zi finished speaking, Dabo’s voice came from downstairs, "Great-grandpa, great-grandma, looks like no one’s home."

"They’re back!" Yi Luowa and Tong Ai Ni ran out and stood in the hallway waving down. "Dabo, Erbao, we’re up here!"

"Auntie, little Auntie, hi!" The two little ones came running up hand in hand.

With the arrival of the two kids, the house suddenly became lively.

Lady Jing Ya laughed, "Life isn’t about money, it’s about people! It’s a shame Dabo and Erbao still have school, so they visit less often. With Yak and Duoduo not around either, Grandma has to rely on you boys."

Tong Aino held Connie’s hand and grinned, "Grandma, if you’re in such a hurry, Connie and I can start giving you grandkids right now."

Connie’s face flushed red to her ears.

Yi Luowa took a bite of her apple and beamed at Connie. "Connie, I’ve got faith in you!"

Connie blushed and said, "You’re the first daughter-in-law; you should be the one having kids first."

"I’d love to, but I haven’t graduated yet." Yi Luowa laughed. "How about we let Seventh Brother and Shanshan go first?"

Lady Jing Ya smiled gently, "I heard your eldest uncle say their relationship is progressing quickly. He and your aunt plan to hold their wedding right after Ni’er’s wedding is done."

"Whoever said slow is better—these two are speeding ahead in marriage and kids!" Tong Aino laughed, glancing over at Connie. "We’re not going to lag behind them, no matter what. February, we get engaged; March, we get married; April, we have kids."

Tong Airui rolled his eyes at him. "Can you be a bit realistic?"

Hahaha... Everyone burst into laughter.

Connie wished she could find a hole to crawl into; how did she end up with such a goofball!

Tong Airui smirked lightly. "Did Seventh Brother get back to you about the hospital?"

"Funny you should ask; Seventh Brother agreed. He and Shanshan will come over first."

"Did Shanshan’s family agree?"

"Shanshan’s family couldn’t possibly agree. That hospital was originally meant for her and Seventh Brother, but Seventh Brother outright refused to live off his father-in-law’s resources. They couldn’t do much about it, and it’s mainly up to Shanshan, who’s supportive of him."

Tong Aino plopped down beside them. "Bro, I’m planning to start renovation on the old site of Zhuoyuan tomorrow."

"Fine." Tong Airui nodded.

"Regarding shares, I spoke with third brother and uncle about it. Our two families will finance it; Seventh Brother and Shanshan will provide the manpower—they’ll get 60%, while our families will get 40%."

Tong Airui shook his head. "You guys handle that; I’m not getting involved. What I care about is when our small uncle and eldest uncle will come over."

"Small uncle can come over once things are settled here. As for eldest uncle and aunt, they’ll have to wait until retirement. I counted; it’ll be at least three years."

"That’s not too far away. Three years will pass in the blink of an eye."

The brothers continued chatting, but Yan Zi’s thoughts weren’t on the conversation. She was worried about her son. Seeing her brother and sister-in-law come downstairs, she quickly stood up.

Tong Yao shook her head, signaling her not to let their mom notice anything.

Yan Zi glanced at her mother and promptly sat back down.

Tong Yao smiled and said, "Shuoshuo just called your brother earlier; he said he’d be home first thing tomorrow morning."

Charles chuckled, "Monica and Little Raindrop should be back the day before Lunar New Year."

Yan Zi’s eyes welled up with tears. "I... I thought..."

Tong Yao briskly walked over, "Look at you, so pathetic! Missing your grandson to the point of crying!"

"You’re fifty years old; stop acting like a child!" Lady Jing Ya handed her a tissue and looked at Tong Airui. "Rui’er, will Xuanxuan be back for Lunar New Year this year?"

Tong Airui apologized with a shake of the head, "Grandma, Eighth Brother is out on a mission; he won’t be back anytime soon."

"Where did Xuanxuan go?" Yan Zi looked tearfully at Tong Airui. She felt terribly miserable for her role as a mother—her daughter was married off far away, her eldest son was stuck in Beidi, and now she didn’t even know where her youngest son was.
