Chapter 277: Chapter 260: Eighty Percent Pity for My Future Man (Part 1)

The three older kids were all shouting "Auntie!" and "Aunt-in-law!" joyfully, but Duoduo, despite trying from "Old Auntie" to "Nine Auntie," just couldn’t manage to say "Aunt-in-law." Duoduo’s face turned red, eyes fixed on the red envelope, in such an adorable way that everyone ended up laughing all morning.

After breakfast, everyone sent Teng Qian’s group off. Tong Yao held Connie’s hand and said apologetically, "Connie, I’m really sorry for all the trouble you went through these past few days."

Connie gave Tong Yao a friendly hug, smiled, and said, "Auntie, what are you saying? You’ve all been so kind to me. I haven’t suffered one bit."

"As long as you didn’t feel mistreated. Let’s meet again next weekend."

"Yes, Auntie, we’ll see each other very soon."

Tong Yao gave her a loving pat on the arm. "Get in the car now."

Connie smiled and climbed into the car.

The car slowly drove out of the courtyard. Tong Yao sighed softly and tilted her head toward Yi Luowa, asking, "Isn’t Ai Nuo supposed to be going with them? Where is he?"

"He said it’s embarrassing to follow behind others, so after breakfast, he went straight to the airport by himself."

Tong Yao pursed her lips. "Typical behavior!"

Yi Luowa tried to hold back her laughter, nodding repeatedly.

"Connie poured her heart out to your aunt-in-law, saying Ai Nuo doesn’t care about her at all and that she doesn’t see a future with him. No matter how much your aunt-in-law tried to console her, the girl stuck to this only line." Tong Yao sighed again, shaking her head in resignation. "She seemed like such a gentle child, but when she’s stubborn, it’s truly maddening. I gave your aunt-in-law some money to hand off to Connie. If Ai Nuo can’t persuade her back, we still shouldn’t let her leave empty-handed, especially since she interned at our company."

Yi Luowa held Tong Yao’s arm and said with a smile, "Mom, that’s absolutely the right thing to do. When Ai Nuo left, Tong Airui said the same thing to him."

Yi Weiyang was listening to the exchange between mother and daughter. When he thought about how Tong Airui’s family treated Luowa, he couldn’t help but smile. Tong Airui’s family didn’t treat Luowa as an outsider, and that warmed his heart.

Tong Yao glanced back at Yi Weiyang and said to Yi Luowa, "Luowa, your second uncle worked hard all day yesterday. You should tidy yourself up and head back to the manor with him tonight so he can get some good rest. Don’t forget to bring the gifts."

"Alright, I’ll leave early and return early."

Tong Yao gave her a teasing look, "You only come back once a week—stay overnight there and come home tomorrow morning."

Yi Luowa mumbled quietly, "Mom, there are still guests at home."

Tong Yao laughed, "It’s just a bunch of old folks. Having you around can sometimes drive us mad! Get going, all of you, take care of your own plans. Your older brother and his group are leaving too—it’s perfect to go together."

"Mom, if we’re not needed here, then we’re all heading off!" Ai Ni came bounding over.

"And where are you planning to wreak havoc this time?" Tong Yao squinted at her.

"Just sending my second uncle back, of course." Ai Ni pouted, "Whenever you talk with my sister-in-law, you’re all smiles and laughter. But when it comes to me, look at how your brows knit together!"

Tong Yao mockingly scolded, "You’re always causing trouble! Your second uncle worked all day yesterday—you following him back would only hinder his rest."

Yi Weiyang chimed in with a smile, "It’s on my invitation. The manor recently got a few new ponies, perfect for the kids to play with. The elders are worn out from yesterday’s festivities too. Let them rest for a few days, then I’ll come back to bring them over for a stay at my place."

Tong Yao looked at her grandson and grandchildren, whose eager eyes gleamed with anticipation and said to Yi Weiyang, "Having so many people all at once—this will surely trouble you."

"I enjoy lively gatherings. As long as nobody minds how rustic our home is, I’m thrilled."

Since Yi Weiyang said so, Tong Yao didn’t object further, and off they went in a lively crowd.

Once the younger generation had left, Ning Mingxi took Mai Zekai and returned to Z country. After all, she had a patient back home to take care of. She didn’t mention it before since she didn’t want everyone to waste extra time seeing her off.

Suddenly, the house was quiet. Tong Yao looked at the handful of older relatives still remaining and smiled faintly, "From now on, it’ll just be us relying on one another. The kids are all grown; they’re no longer clinging to us, begging to be held all day."

"Is there a hint of melancholy in your tone?" Long Che came downstairs with his phone in hand. "Don’t I count as still being here for you?"

Tong Yao noticed his formal attire and smirked, "Am I supposed to count on you to keep me company? Where are you heading off to now?"

"Mutta is calling me over. I’ll try to be back early."

"Did you get any results from yesterday’s matter?"

Long Che’s brows knitted slightly. "The cook died halfway there."

Tong Yao frowned deeply.

Long Che patted her on the shoulder, "Don’t get caught up in these messy affairs. Stay at home and spend quality time with Mom and Dad."

"This matter won’t stay hidden from Rui’er..." Tong Yao said worriedly. "Don’t let him run off halfway through again."
