Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 278 - 260: Eighty Percent Pity for My Future Man (Part 2)
"It’s no big deal. He’s steadier than me. I’m off now." Long Che greeted the elders briefly before rushing out the door.
Tong Airui didn’t receive a direct call from Mutar; it was his subordinate who informed him of the news. After hearing it, Tong Airui simply responded, "Got it," and hung up the phone.
As soon as he ended the call, Yuan Hang’s number popped up. "Boss, you never fail to amaze me! Such a big event, and I had to learn about it online. Couldn’t you have given me a heads-up?"
Listening to Yuan Hang’s complaints, Tong Airui’s tightly furrowed brows relaxed a bit. "Even if I told you, you couldn’t make it back. Stop saying such pointless things!"
"Fine, I won’t hold this against you this time. But when you have your wedding, don’t you dare send me away again!"
"Alright! When I have my wedding, I’ll let you be the flower boy."
Yi Luowa burst into laughter upon hearing this. She’d never seen anyone hire a flower boy in his thirties for a wedding.
Yuan Hang also laughed in exasperation. "I want to be the best man!"
"We’re overbooked on best men, so how about you be a bridesmaid?"
"Ha-ha..." Yuan Hang’s laughter rang from the phone.
Tong Airui smirked. "What’s the situation on your end? Can you be back in a month?"
"I was just about to talk to you about that. Kai Di has been placed under house arrest by Emperor Haotian on Burton Island. It’s not too bad, though; she’s been permitted to take her five boy toys with her. From what I gather, Kai Di’s been behaving more appropriately since she got to the island. She’s been busy, uh, trying to make babies every day. Ha-ha-ha... Boss, I’m just curious—if she does have kids, will they know which one’s their father?"
"You have too much time on your hands! Anyway, it won’t be you!" Tong Airui snapped irritably.
Yuan Hang laughed. "Given her... type, even if she wore billions around her neck, I wouldn’t feel a thing."
Tong Airui chuckled lightly. "Let’s talk about serious matters!"
"Boss, this *is* serious. Emperor Haotian is currently searching for renowned doctors to treat his son. Word is that the Prince’s illness has progressed to a terminal stage—though this is just rumor, of course, since the prince’s condition has been a state secret with tightly controlled information, so we can’t find out much.
With Emperor Haotian’s only son close to dying, and Du Ma still remaining unmarried, Kai Di deciding to have kids at a time like this makes me wonder—could she be aiming for the throne? If the crown ends up with her child, well, our two nations might just have a lot to tussle over."
Tong Airui rubbed his temples, "You’ve got twenty days to wrap things up there. Then come back ASAP. I need to send Dapeng on a more critical mission."
"Boss, did you just brush off everything I said as garbage?" Yuan Hang shouted furiously.
"It’s garbage—without even a whiff of significance! Drop it! Don’t look into this further. Just focus on your tasks. If you’re not back in twenty days, you’ll be heading straight back to the base!"
Tong Airui ended the call with a smirk.
Dapeng laughed. "Fourth Brother, I bet Yuan Hang’s flipping tables in anger right now."
"Your Yuan Hang isn’t easy to handle!"
"Sticking with you, you pick up a new trick every day. Everyone you send out comes back sharp as a tack."
"You’re handling Kai Di’s situation. Don’t make any big moves yet—just keep an eye on her for now. If she really gets pregnant, then step in."
Dapeng understood and nodded in agreement.
Yi Luowa cast a complicated look toward Tong Airui. His meaning...
Tong Airui smiled and ruffled her hair. "Why are you looking at me like that? Do I suddenly seem like a stranger to you?"
Yi Luowa pressed her lips together. "I don’t understand your business. But I do know that whatever decisions you make, they always have their reasons."
"Thank you for understanding." Tong Airui leaned down and kissed her forehead lightly. "You’ll see Huo Li soon, so cheer up. Moving forward, I’ll make sure you don’t hear too much about my affairs, so you won’t feel uneasy."
"If you really keep things from me, I’ll feel even worse."
Dapeng chuckled. "Fourth Brother, Sister-in-law’s afraid you’ll call other girls behind her back. Ha-ha-ha..."
"This lifetime, having this little girl as my wife is enough for me."
Yi Luowa gave a soft smile and didn’t reply.
Arriving at the estate, Huo Li came out early to greet them. Seeing her in good spirits relieved Yi Luowa.
They chatted briefly, and Uncle Li then led everyone to the backyard stables. Yi Luowa pushed Huo Li’s wheelchair as the two strolled along and talked.
Huo Li, gazing up at her, said, "Your engagement ceremony with Tong Airui was streamed online in its entirety. The TV was plastered with your news too. Did you see it?" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"I haven’t had time yet. Was it really streamed in full online?" Yi Luowa looked at Huo Li in alarm. If she knew about Sasha’s antics, she wouldn’t be so calm—there must have been edits.
"It was fully streamed. They even cut to a PCW ad in the middle, ha-ha... Luowa, your engagement not only crushed the dreams of all those women coveting Tong Airui but also made PCW wildly popular."
Yi Luowa exhaled deeply, assuming the advertisement was what aired during Sasha’s disruptions.
"Rich lady, last night did you two count money without neglecting the *main event*?" Huo Li teased with laughter.
Yi Luowa rolled her eyes at her. "Since I’m a rich lady now, I naturally don’t fancy your measly shares. I’ll give them back to you later."
"If you dare reject them, I’ll die right in front of you!"
"Stop threatening me with death! Got it? Your life isn’t just yours!"
Huo Li sniffled. "I know. Now that you’ve married a good husband and struck it rich, you look down on me. Once I can walk again, I’ll leave here so you won’t find me an eyesore."
"Where’s your pride?!" Yi Luowa poked her heavily on the back of her head. "If you dare leave, I’ll break your legs!"
Huo Li glared at her. "Yi Luowa, if you have guts, break my legs right now!"
Yi Luowa tilted her head playfully. "I don’t have guts! If I did, I wouldn’t have married a man!"
"Ugh, you rascal!" Huo Li smacked the back of her hand. "Are we sisters?"
"Nope!" Yi Luowa caught Huo Li about to flare up and quickly added with a laugh, "We’re brothers!"
"That’s more like it! You keep those shares for me. If I ever manage to get married, you can return them double." Huo Li’s eyes dimmed slightly—she had no intention of marrying. Whenever she thought of that man’s grotesque body, it made her sick!
"Let’s agree on that, then." Yi Luowa laughed and patted her head. "Know what I’m thinking right now?"
"Probably pitying my future husband."
"Smart! Whoever marries you will suffer your wrath for a lifetime—isn’t that pitiful?"
"Wrong! I just haven’t found true love yet. When I do, I’ll kneel before him every day!" Huo Li mischievously tossed her hair and threw Yi Luowa a seductive wink.
Yi Luowa exaggeratedly shivered. "You flirting with me won’t work!"
"In this lifetime, I can only flirt with you. Luowa, let’s discuss something. When you have kids, let me be their godmother. At first, I thought about asking you to give me one of your babies. Then my life would feel complete. But with Tong Airui’s family... I won’t dream of such nonsense. Maybe becoming a godmother is barely acceptable."
Yi Luowa froze for a moment, then moved in front of her, grabbing her hand. "Huo Li, how could you have such thoughts? Are you planning to never marry in your entire life?"
"If I get married, who’ll take care of Uncle Li for you?" Huo Li saw Tong Airui approaching and quickly pulled Yi Luowa’s hand. "Your husband’s here. From now on, let’s never speak of this again."
Yi Luowa stood up with a heavy heart, feeling that she needed a proper talk with Huo Li sometime.
Seeing his wife’s smile vanish, Tong Airui said playfully, "I think the ponies look pretty safe. Want to ride one?"
Yi Luowa shook her head. "You go ahead and have fun. I’m not really into horse-riding."
"Me?" Tong Airui glanced down at his long legs. "Do we have a saw at home?"
Yi Luowa frowned. "Why would you need a saw?"
"To chop off part of my legs so I can ride a pony."
Yi Luowa and Huo Li exchanged a look and instantly burst into laughter. Their shared laughter lifted their moods considerably.
