Chapter 273: Chapter 258: Why Do You Still Need a Face! (Second Part)

Duke’s Mansion

After dinner, everyone sat in the living room, chatting casually.

Yi Weiyang sat for a while and then suggested that he should leave.

Lady Jing Ya smiled and said, "Leaving now? It’ll be dark by the time you get home. Just stay here for the night, and tomorrow, let Rui’er and Luowa go back with you."

Everyone else also tried to persuade him to stay.

Yi Weiyang looked at Yi Luowa, who was gazing at him pitifully, and nodded with a smile.

Yi Luowa immediately dropped the pitiful look and sat down cheerfully.

Yi Weiyang laughed, "You change your expression quicker than flipping a page."

Yi Luowa pouted and handed him a tea cup with a smile, "Drink tea, drink tea, that way you won’t have time to scold me."

Yi Weiyang shook his head with a smile.

The family watched the pair and couldn’t help but laugh.

Tong Airui fondly patted her head, "Don’t just annoy your second uncle; be careful, or he might start favoring Huo Li over you. And then, don’t come crying to me."

"Then I’ll learn from Huo Li and make a perfect parabola," Yi Luowa gestured an arc in the air and then burst into laughter.

"No wonder Dad called and said, Luowa is just a little bundle of joy. Seeing her now, it’s true! Yaoyao, you’ll never be lonely with her around," Angelina smiled at Tong Yao.

Tong Yao nodded with a smile, "I’ve never seen this child worry about anything."

Angelina patted Connie’s hand, "Learn from Luowa, stop moping around by yourself for no reason."

Connie nodded silently.

Angelina looked at her and shook her head helplessly, "Talking to you is pointless. Look at how you are..."

Tong Aino quickly spoke up, "Aunt, don’t blame Connie. It’s my fault; I upset her. Before you and Uncle arrived, she was talking about going home."

Angelina glared playfully at Connie, who remained silent with her head down, "You haven’t even finished your internship, and you’re talking about going home? Do you want to graduate or not? With your strict headmistress, even if you were the King, she wouldn’t hand you a diploma if anything is missing."

Connie slightly curled her lips, "Then I just won’t get it. I’ll just stay at Aunt’s house and let her take care of me."

"I won’t take care of you! Otherwise, your mother will say I took over her daughter because I don’t have one," Angelina smacked her playfully, "If you miss home, go visit your parents, then come back and continue your internship, okay?"

Tong Aino noticed Connie rubbing her arm where Angelina had hit her, and his eye twitched, "Aunt, how hard did you hit her? Look at her now."

Angelina laughed at him, "You’ve learned to care about people now, have you?"

Tong Aino pouted, sat over, and reached to massage Connie’s arm, but she quickly dodged him.

Angelina helplessly glanced at her husband, and Teng Qian smiled, shaking his head.

Tong Airui was waiting to watch the fun when his phone and Long Che’s phone rang at the same time.

The two hurried into the study with their phones.

"Speak!"

"Hmm, you go ahead."

They both answered their phones almost simultaneously, and after listening to the reports, Tong Airui replied with a hum, while Long Che didn’t say a word and hung up straight away.

"What does Muta want to do? They found that woman and didn’t notify us," Long Che turned his head to look at his son.

Tong Airui asked suspiciously, "Didn’t your people tell you that Muta’s people were tracking the convoy?"

Long Che frowned slightly, about to speak when his phone rang again.

Long Che answered, and after listening to the report, he said in a deep voice, "Withdraw our people."

Tong Airui saw his father was withdrawing people and thought for a moment before calling his subordinates to withdraw them too.

Long Che put down the phone and looked at his son, "Why did you withdraw your people too?"

Tong Airui smiled, "We wouldn’t want Muta to feel we’re distrusting him. He’s more invested in this than we are."

"Then we’ll wait for his news. Let’s go back out; it’s rare for the whole family to be together," Long Che patted his son’s shoulder, "Rui’er, although you haven’t had your wedding yet, you’re already building your family and career. From now on, the burden on your shoulders will be heavier, family and country, you’ll have to take care of them both. Are you ready?"

"Dad, I’ve been ready since the day I met Luowa, don’t worry!" Tong Airui smiled as he helped Long Che out the door.

They chatted until past ten before everyone went to their rooms. Yi Luowa and Tong Airui helped their second uncle to a bedroom on the first floor. After he finished washing up, they helped him take off his prosthetic limb.

Yi Luowa noticed some redness and swelling at the point of contact and gently massaged it with concern, "Second Uncle, does it hurt?"

"It doesn’t," Yi Weiyang said with a smile, "At the beginning, it was more swollen than now, you’ve seen how it was, but you’ll get used to it eventually."

Tong Airui glanced at the redness and swelling, turned around, and left the room, returning shortly with several boxes of ointment, "Wife, get up, let me apply some medication for Second Uncle, it’ll reduce the swelling by morning."

Yi Luowa took the ointment boxes from him with a smile, "I’ll do it. If you apply it, Second Uncle won’t be able to sleep well all night."

"It’s not that bad!" Tong Airui laughed, rolling up Yi Weiyang’s pajama pant leg.

Yi Weiyang looked lovingly at the two kids. Luowa may be mischievous, but she’s a good and filial child, not spoiled for nothing.

He glanced at Tong Airui and could tell from the way he looked at Luowa just how much he loved her.

Luowa truly has found happiness, but he wondered what Huo Li’s future would be like.

As soon as Yi Weiyang thought of Huo Li, a message from her came in.

Yi Luowa laughed when she saw her second uncle looking at his phone, craning her neck to take a peek.

Yi Weiyang smiled and moved the phone towards her, "Huo Li said she’s going to sleep now and reminded me to do some warm compress."

Yi Luowa chuckled, "Not bad, she actually cares."

"I’ll reply and tell her to rest early, and you two should get some sleep too."

Yi Luowa filled a cup of water and placed it by the bedside, smiling at Yi Weiyang, "Call me if you need anything, don’t get up on your own."

"Got it, go on!" Yi Weiyang waved her away with a smile.

"Second Uncle, the chamber pot is right under the bed; you can reach it from there," Tong Airui reminded him before heading upstairs with Yi Luowa.

On the second floor, Connie’s door was ajar, and Tong Aino was listening in with his ear against the door.

When Tong Airui came upstairs and saw him sneaking around, he gave a disdainful cough.

Tong Aino quickly gestured for them to be quiet and signaled them to hurry to their room.

Tong Airui gave him a sidelong glance and led Yi Luowa into their bedroom. As soon as they entered, Tong Airui mumbled, "He’s got to be dealt with like that!"

Yi Luowa smiled helplessly and walked over to the wardrobe to take out two sets of pajamas.

Tong Airui began unbuttoning his shirt with a smile, "Why are you bothering with that? We’ll just have to take them off again; if I rip it by accident, you’ll be heartbroken again."

Yi Luowa pouted, "Can’t you be peaceful for one night?"

Tong Airui grinned, "On such a memorable day, shouldn’t we do something?"

Seeing him start to undress in a military manner again, Yi Luowa grabbed the pajamas and headed into the bathroom.

Tong Airui followed in and hugged her from behind, lightly biting her ear, "We’re a proper married couple now. Why are you still so shy?"

"Grandma told me that when you were little, you didn’t even take off your underwear when bathing, but now you strip bare as soon as you enter the bedroom."

Tong Airui lifted her up with a laugh, "Only want you to see."

Yi Luowa blushed and pinched his cheek, "Shameless!"

The two played around in the tub for a while, but since Yi Luowa had hurt her back last time, she refused to let Tong Airui touch her this time.

Fourth Master had no choice but to carry his wife back to the bedroom. His phone suddenly rang.

Yi Luowa saw him freeze and covered her mouth, laughing.

Tong Airui playfully bumped into her, picked up the phone, and, seeing that it was Tong Aino’s number, was irritated. Upon answering, he shouted, "Are you out of your mind? Today’s supposed to be my wedding night, and you’re calling now."

Tong Aino whispered, "You haven’t even had your wedding yet, what’s with the wedding night talk? Bro, I just overheard Connie telling Aunt she wants to go back with her. What do I do?"

Tong Airui glanced at Yi Luowa, who was laughing with her hand over her mouth, then shouted into the phone, "Handle it yourself! I’ve got bigger things to worry about now than dealing with you!"

Tong Aino heard the busy tone from the phone, angrily kicked Tong Airui’s door, and frustratedly returned to his room.

Tong Aino lay on the bed with his clothes on, staring at the ceiling. Connie was determined to leave; what should he do? Go to La Man? She wasn’t responding to him, so what good would it do?

For the first time, Tong Aino knew what insomnia felt like, tossing and turning until after one o’clock before falling asleep.

Just as he dozed off, his phone woke him up again with its ringing. He glanced at the time: 1:30! He looked at the screen and saw it was Tong Airui.

He yelled, "Are you out of your mind? It’s so late! Can’t people sleep?"

Over the phone, he heard Tong Airui’s cheerful laughter.

"You’re crazy... that’s right!" Tong Aino rolled his eyes exaggeratedly.

Tong Aino frowned and shouted, "Tong Lao Si, can you stop flaunting your affection in front of me? The well-fed don’t know the plight of the starving!"

Tong Airui grabbed Yi Luowa’s hand as she tickled him and laughed, "You got yourself into this mess! Didn’t you ask me what to do? I’ll tell you, wherever Connie goes, you go. Even if she ignores you, follow her. Why worry about pride now!"

Just as Tong Aino was about to speak, the phone once again went silent with the busy tone.
