Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 97: Blood Curse
"What?! A Westley?!"
One of the Transcendent Elves, the same one Jamie had met earlier in the day questioned as she looked towards Jamie, however, the dragon shook his head and replied.
"Not ’A’ Westley, but ’THE’ Westley."
"Huh? ’THE’?"
Jamie momentarily turned towards the dragon with a questioning expression, and in that same moment, a sword lashed in right beside his neck.
He locked eyes with its wielder, a Transcendent Human from another world who used the energy of the law of swords to augment his strike.
Just when the human thought he was going to behead Jamie, his eyes widened in shock as he saw his sword phase through the Hybrid’s neck.
’Phasing?! Damn Spatial Attribute!’
Jamie spun around and used the back of his fist to smack the man’s head, however, the human dodged it at the last moment by twisting his upper body.
The two took distance from each other, and Jamie made sure to keep an eye on both him and the Light spirit as he began calculating in his head.
He thought about the effective range of the aura of a Transcendent, and the distance he needed to teleport in order to escape their encirclement.
The current him could not even deal with one Transcendent, much less ten.
Running was the only option.
’That distance is not something I can traverse in one go with ’just teleportation’. But first, let me go out of Void City first, then I’d break ’it’ open.’
The instant he had that thought, his body was wreathed in a spatial light as he attempted teleportation, however, the voice of the dragon who recognized him rang out at that same moment.
"Delay Teleportation!"
"What th-?!"
Jamie’s teleportation was delayed by an extra 2 seconds, more than enough time for the light spirit to reach him and attack.
Due to this, Jamie gave up teleporting and simply focused on blocking and evasion.
"Dimensional Lock!"
"Huh?"
After dodging a blade of light, Jamie turned towards the dragon with an incredulous expression on his face as he asked.
"You know me and you still use that? Are you stupid or retarded?"
The dragon’s brow twitched in annoyance, but he quickly realised he didn’t have that time when his dimensional lock was broken by a wave of Jamie’s hands.
**SWOOOSSHHH!!!
A volley of flaming arrows rained down on him from above, and the Hybrid manoeuvred in the air to avoid each one, while also attempting another teleportation.
"Delay Teleportation!"
Once again, the dragon interfered with the teleportation, right before the arrow volley stopped and kept Jamie in this space long enough for the human sword’s man to reach him.
This made Jamie once again give up on teleporting and instead focus on evading the supersonic sword slashes that aimed for his vitals.
The human swordsman unleashed four vertical slashes at once down on Jamie, each one filled with the cutting energy of the law of swords.
"Delaying my teleportation—."
"?!"
"—Isn’t enough to keep me here!"
Jamie spoke as he coated his arms in spatial light and pushed the air in front of him, expanding the space between him and the slashes before teleporting high up into the air, right below the clouds.
The dragon wanted to use delay teleportation once more; until he saw the energy around Jamie’s arm concentrate on his fist and the way the hybrid motioned with the arm.
’Spatial Gate!’
He could delay normal short-distance teleportation but could do nothing about spatial gates.
Jamie had already moved his hand, about to distort the space and generate a spatial gate when a loud shout with the energy of the law of sound rang out from above him.
[YAAAAAAAAANNNNNGGGGGGGG!!!!!]
"?!"
Immediately after, a figure pierced through from beyond the clouds, crashing right onto Jamie’s back.
The being—the dragon who was in the pleasure sector—grabbed Jamie from the back as if he was trying to hug him while using magic power to scatter the energy concentrated on Jamie’s arm.
"Get off me!"
**BAAAAMMM!!
With an annoyed shout, Jamie elbowed the dragon in the ribs with full strength, loosening his hold before spinning around and then using spatial energy to slash at him.
**SPLURT!!
Blood splattered all over Jamie’s body, drenching him in the crimson liquid.
’??’
Jamie knew that his attack was strong enough to injure even a transcendent, however, there was still an issue.
’There’s too much blood for such an attack.’
The dragon grabbed onto Jamie again, and with an almost crazed look in his eyes, he spoke.
"You’re not going anywhere, Hybrid!"
"I said, Get off me!"
Jamie shook off the dragon before delivering a spinning round kick to the side of his head, sending his figure hurling through the air and to the ground.
He then created wormholes to warp the volley of arrows that rained down and the breath attack from the dragon, while using spatial phasing to deal with the human’s sword slash.
Simultaneously, he clenched his fist and hit the empty air beside him, causing the space to distort and then shatter open into a portal of mish-mashing energy.
Without further ado, he threw his body into the gate, disappearing from the area as it closed up behind him.
"..."
Silence pervaded the area.
One second passed, then two, then three.
**BOOM!!
The space shattered open once more and Jamie’s body was forced back out of the spatial gate, much to the Hybrid’s obvious shock.
"...how?"
It was then that the voice of the second dragon rang out, causing Jamie to turn in his direction.
"Didn’t I tell you?"
Blood dripped from his chest where Jamie had cut him, and from his nose where Jamie’s kick had hit, dripping down onto the floor around him and forming a magic circle around his feet.
"You’re not going anywhere, Hybrid."
He repeated his earlier words, and then Jamie noticed that the blood that had splattered on him had begun glowing, along with the magic circle on the ground.
A quick glance at it identified the type of spell it was.
’A Vampire spell?’
"Blood Curse: Chains of Resentment!!"
Cromsoon red chains burst out from the ground all around him, wrapping around Jamie’s arms and legs briefly before disappearing.
’How can he use a vampire spell?’
Jamie’s question was answered when he looked at the dragon once more, noticing something he had not noticed earlier.
’Of course, he can use a Vampire spell. He’s a Half Vampire, after all!’
It turned out that this one wasn’t a full dragon, but a halfling.
’Come on, what stupid dragon thought it was wise to fuck a vampire?’
"We got you now!!"
The dragon shouted with a grin as his companions roused their energies and prepared to attack, but internally, he was sweating bullets.
’Fucking monster!’
He could not help but curse out at Jamie, as even a sovereign Realm ’Avatar’ of Jamie was scarily resistant to his spell.
The Blood Curse he had used, was a curse-type spell that prevented a target from being able to leave a certain area for a period of time that depended on various factors.
For it to work, the target has to be the one to spill the user’s blood, and the amount of blood spilt and the magic power levels of both parties determine the duration.
Even if they teleported out, they would be forcefully pulled back to the same place till they either defeated the caster or the duration elapsed.
The laws of curses and blood in it made sure of that.
He was confident in being able to use this spell on fellow transcendent, and he could even keep Transcendents in place for hours and Sovereigns stuck in the same place for over a day.
However, in Jamie’s case—
**CRACK!!!
—forget a day, he wasn’t even sure he could keep the Hybrid bound for an hour.
The spell circle was already shattering from the edges, and he realised that if he lost focus, the duration he could keep Jamie bound would reduce.
’30 minutes. That’s how long I can keep him here.’
He sent that message to his companions via telepathy and they were all momentarily surprised at how short the time was.
But this was expected as Jamie was a Hybrid with Vampiric factors, it’d be weirder if he wasn’t resistant to Vampire spells.
"30 minutes? That’s too long."
The full dragon spoke as his whole body was suddenly engulfed in bright flames, his horns stretched out and his wings and tail emerged from his upper and lower back.
Now transformed into a humanoid dragon form, he thought to himself.
’If it was his real body or we were in a different scenario, then I’d have run away already.
But this world forces all higher existences to the Transcendent level. This avatar of his seems to be a Sovereign, meaning it has not been here for long.
Bottom line is—’
Not just him, but all the Transcendents who were actually Race Lords in avatars had the same simultaneous thought.
’If it’s this much, then we can win!’
