Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 85: Jeune’s Technique ultime
His icy aura emanated a soothing cold that calmed his mind, granting him increased mental clarity and the focus he needed to develop a strategy for dealing with Jamie.
But though he had the focus required, Jamie wasn’t gonna give him the time.
Two invisible spatial swords came slicing at him from both sides, giving him no choice but to jump into the air to avoid them.
He pulled back his fists and threw them out with supersonic punches, sending the icy shockwaves flying towards Jamie.
In response, Jamie clapped and generated a spatial field in front of him, with invisible blades that sliced apart everything that entered it.
Juene landed on his feet and kicked off the ground, blitzing towards Jamie, but mid-run, he suddenly created a wall of ice in front of him to forcefully stop his movements.
A mere second later, the space in front of him and the ice wall he had slammed into were carved out of existence.
Jamie swung his hand downwards and another barely perceptible mass of spatial energy cleaved towards him, but he slammed his palms on the floor and created a pillar of ice under his feet, sending him up into the air.
The ice pillar was destroyed a moment later, but even so, he now had to deal with the three spatial slices Jamie sent his way.
’This can’t go on...my normal attacks don’t have the energy required to counter his space manipulation.’
"In that case..."
Juene muttered to himself as he landed on the floor, rousing his energy and channelling it into his unique skill.
His hazy ice aura surrounded his entire form, momentarily obscuring his vision and preventing him from seeing the small grin that appeared on Jamie’s face.
’You’re right where I want you, half-giant.’
Such thoughts went through Jamie’s mind as he drew in energy of a law; not spatial laws, nor destruction, nor flames or lightning, but sound.
Sound, along with another strange law that although had a crimson-coloured energy like that of destruction, could not be any more different.
"Technique ultime: incarnation de la glace humaine!!"
Juene’s loud voice rang out as universal law energy swirled around him, a symphony of water and ice converging upon his form.
His body underwent a transformation, shimmering and pulsing with a cerulean hue, as though he had become an embodiment of ice itself.
This new form emanated dense universal law energy, its frigid presence distorting the very air around him and dropping the surrounding temperature precipitously.
Concluding the transformation, his face was partially obscured with a surreal glacial mask, and when he took a step forward, the ground he stepped on crystallised.
Jamie raised a brow as he saw this, holding up two fingers and flicking his wrist to send a spatial sword towards him, however, the Half giant casually raised his frost-encased arm and blocked the spatial blade with ease.
The Hybrid switched used ’Cut’, but the result was the same, Juene could now block his spatial slices.
Five rings of light appeared beneath Junee’s feet, their power surging into his body as he kicked off the ground and propelled his body towards Jamie.
He moved so fast that he appeared to be a blue streak of lights shooting through the air.
Jamie jumped back and swung his hand down, carving the space in front of him but Juene manoeuvred to avoid it and continued his charge towards the hybrid.
Landing with his feet, Jamie clapped his hands and spread them out, creating multi-layered spatial barriers around him, but Juene pierced through them all with ease.
The hybrid teleported away to avoid the first piercing charge, but the moment he reappeared, a magic circle manifested underneath his feet and froze his entire leg.
Juene took advantage of Jamie’s momentary immobility and attacked. Swinging his arms in a cross, he generated two five-pronged aura projections and sent them flying towards Jamie. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Each one tore through the earth as they moved, reaching Jamie almost instantaneously.
However, all that earth-shattering power was useless if it didn’t hit its target in the first place.
The space between Jamie and the aura projections distorted and expanded, with Jamie taking advantage of the extra time to melt the ice around his leg and move away.
He looked around him and noticed they had shifted from where they were before, causing a frown to appear on his handsome face.
"Tsk..."
Juene thought Jamie was annoyed that his attacks were no longer working, but the Hybrid was annoyed because Juene had left the spot Jamie wanted him to be in.
’Well, No worry. I can bring him back there myself.’
Such was Jamie’s thought as he spun his body around and flew straight towards his desired location, and like he also desired Juene chased after him.
He even slowed his speed a bit so Jeune could overtake him and block his path, throwing in attacks that Jamie ’struggled’ to block.
"Haa!"
The Hybrid let out a cry as he stomped his foot on the ground and generated shockwaves that knocked Juene’s body backwards.
With space now between them, Jamie wasted no time in beginning what he had planned. He infused the energy of the law of sound into his tongue, released the limit on his passive Vampiric charming abilities and took a deep breath before speaking.
"Human Ice Embodiment, huh?"
"..."
Jeune raised a brow in light surprise as Jamie called out the name of his current form, but he still remained silent.
"Spatial Manipulation."
"...what?"
"That’s my power."
The Half Giant looked at Jamie who said something he clearly wasn’t blind enough to notice with an incredulous expression on his face, but Jamie continued speaking whilst ignoring him.
"Of all the Basic attacks I have with my Spatial Manipulation, I favour three in particular: Slice, Cut, and Carve."
At this point, Juene was clearly confused as to why Jamie suddenly began talking. He wanted to attack the Hybrid but the instant he took a step forward, the space in front of him was suddenly gouged out.
"Using the two-fingered gesture and flicking my wrist activates ’Slice’; creating a blade of spatial law energy that splits apart the fabric of the third-dimensional space.
The two-fingered gesture and a swing of my arm activates ’Cut’; this creates two larger than normal spatial blades, not only in the direction I swing my arm but in the reverse. Both blades converge in the middle, cutting whatever is caught in between like a scissors.
The full palm gesture and swinging my arm activates ’Carve’; with this, I generate a mass of spatial power that deletes the target space."
Jamie’s voice carried with it, an inexplicable compulsion that made Juene WANT to listen to him, even though his rational mind screamed at him that something was off.
"All of my attacks are on default: infused with spatial law energy that creates distortions due to my unique disposition and the fact that I am the ’Child of Space’.
Even a casual punch would have distortions.
This does not count to the amount of ambient energy I can manipulate, nor does it deplete my own reserves. Only when I supplement it, are my reserves affected.
Lastly, blocking my attacks without using law energies is nigh impossible, and even with them, it’s still incredibly difficult.
Your best bet is to also use spatial energy but doing so against me is borderline foolishness."
When Jamie concluded his words, he clapped his hands and the sound reaching Juene seemed to snap him out of his ’dazed state’.
’Wait...sound?’
"It’s a pity. Your father doesn’t seem to have told you much besides the generational feud you guys have with me.
If he did, then you would have never allowed me to complete my explanation just now."
Jamie held up two fingers, coating them with spatial law power and Juene roused his own energies, ready to defend. Even so, he had a nagging feeling in his heart that something was off so he silently activated his warding technique.
’Bouclier Cryogénique.’
And then Jamie flicked his finger, sending a slash of spatial power towards him.
All was fine, until the last second when Jeune’s danger sense suddenly blared an alarm in his head.
’?!’
But by then, it was already too late.
**SWISH!
The spatial slash split his ward in two, before going on to do the same to one of his arms that was crossed in front of his chest.
It cut through his reinforced ice gloves, the Ruindeum gauntlet he had underneath, and even his clothes which were made of powerful monster materials.
*PLOP!
His right arm which was crossed atop his left, was sliced at the midpoint between his elbow and his wrist, succumbed to the pull of gravity and fell to the ground.
Pain wrecked Juene’s brain, the pain of having his limb severed was far greater than any pain he had ever felt before.
But more than that pain, he wanted to know why. Why the attack that he had blocked with ease before, had suddenly become able to penetrate his multi-layered defence and wound him.
"You’re wondering how, right?"
