Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 84: Jamie’s Swordproof Suit.
Faster than Jeune could understand, the giant shadow that the meteor cast on the ground disappeared. When he looked up to the sky where the meteor had been, all he saw was a distorted space between two remaining 1/10 fractions of the once-enormous orb.
Jamie had carved out 8/10 of it with just a single swing of his hand.
The fabric of space was carved through, with every physical matter and energy in that area being cut away, even the ambient magic energy and universal law energies.
This was the reason why there was a very visible spatial distortion left behind there, the kind that needed to be avoided for the next few minutes otherwise one would meet the same fate as the ice meteor.
Unless of course, they were capable of protecting themselves with dense enough law energy to overpower the residual spatial energy left there and nullify its effects.
’You gotta be fucking kidding me.’
Jeune cursed internally as he clenched his fist, exerting the remaining dredges of control he had over what was left of the meteor and making those two sections shatter into countless shards of ice.
’Pluie de glaçons.’
He swirled the icicles around him rapidly accelerating them until they had entered transonic territory, before sending them spiralling towards Jamie.
Jamie flew away from his position, manoeuvring in the air to avoid the barrages of icicles that came in waves.
But after the third wave, our resident Hybrid had enough of evading and decided to counter.
He drew a horizontal line with his hand in the air, activating his Azure Inferno skill and generating tiny flaming daggers along that line.
’Proliferate.’
The command he gave was basically the same as the name of the universal law whose power he invoked-Proliferation.
The next wave of icicles that came forth collided with the suddenly multiplying flaming daggers, and the two elemental attacks cancelled each other.
’Hmm...why is it colder all of a sudden?’
Because of his high resistance to cold, it took Jamie a short moment to notice that the surrounding temperature had lowered unnaturally.
’It’s not because of the ice meteor he just us-!’
The hybrid cut his thoughts short and redirected his focus to his body, bending backwards to avoid the clawed ice fist that suddenly appeared in front of him.
As Jeune’s hand clawed through the space his head was a second ago, Jamie moved his own hands and grabbed onto it, springing his body upright and turning it to the side.
He then pulled the arm, and the body it was attached to, over his shoulder and slammed them onto the ground.
Without hesitation, Jamie let go of the arm and spun around, before sending a roundhouse kick to the chest of the half-giant who was trying to get up and volleying him into the air.
’That feedback...he blocked it?’
Locating the half-giants body hurtling through the air, he noticed the man had his arms crossed in front of his chest, over the same spot Jamie had been aiming at with his kick.
’He has good instincts...or is it a skill?’
While Jamie was analysing if he possessed some sort of skill that let him intuitively avoid certain threats, Jeune flipped his body and landed on the ground with his feet, sliding backwards a bit due to the force.
Immediately, his Danger Sense skill activated once more and he darted his pupils to the side to see Jamie’s foot closing in.
But just because he could sense the attack incoming, did not mean he was guaranteed to be able to dodge. More so, when Jamie personally froze the space around him.
**BAMM!!
The Hybrid’s foot slammed into the left side of his head, and then with a spin, Jamie delivered another kick to the right side of his head.
He landed on the floor and pivoted on his foot before sending a final High kick to the left side of his head once more, simultaneously deactivation the spatial freeze and letting the force send Jeune into the air.
The half-giant drew a parabolic arc in the air, crashing down a few kilometres away and rag-dolling for a couple hundred more metres.
"Let’s try this."
Still in the same spot, Jamie raised his leg up a bit, and a giant foot-shaped construct of azure blue energy manifested above the place Jeune had fallen.
The Hybrid then stomped his foot down, the energy construct mirroring his movements and stomping down on Jeune.
"Bouclier Cryogénique!!"
**BOOOMMMMM!!!
Jamie noticed a thin film of ice law energy forming in the air half a second before the foot slammed down, but the smoke from the explosion upon the collision with the energy foot construct obscured his vision and prevented him from seeing the full aftermath.
But from the shockwaves that reached him all the way he was, he was sure the impact was as powerful as he expected.
"Just that my opponent has the durability to withstand that without any major problems."
His words came true in the next moment, as a giant ice spike pierced through the energy foot construct and forcefully dissipated it.
"Ouch...reminds me of when I stepped on a nail as a kid."
Jeune who had emerged from the ice was too far to hear Jamie’s words, but even if he did, he would have still ignored them and launched the spiked ice projectile towards Jamie like he just did.
"You should know projectiles are pointless, right?"
Jamie spoke as he raised his hand, with his fingers clasped together and ready to snap. However, Jeune’s next set of actions left the Hybrid slightly surprised.
The half-giant kicked off a foothold he created in the air, using enough force that it shattered into fragments of ice as he broke past the sound barrier.
He blitzed towards Jamie’s side, landing with enough force to crater the ground and with his both arms held up high.
’Lame de glace.
Enchantement glaciaire!’
The first technique condensed his icy aura into the shape of a sword, its hilt falling right into his outstretched arms which he swung down with all his might.
The second one enchanted the already powerful sword, making it stronger, increasing its freezing capabilities and giving it the ability to sap vitality from its target.
So far, he had seen Jamie use his right hand to activate his three Basic Attacks and to create wormholes.
So under the assumption that his hand gestures were a necessity, he sought to take out the entire arm.
A wise decision and one that made Jamie a tiny bit surprised, considering that a lot of opponents surprisingly didn’t think about that in the heat of battle.
But some others did, and when took similar actions like Jeune’s, they were met with a variety of responses.
**CCRACKKK!!
"It was a brilliant plan."
**BAMMM!!!
"A pity, you’re not strong enough to execute it."
*SNAP!
The Hybrid’s arm, despite being subjected to a full power slash of an intermediate Sovereign, one that the pressure from the energy density had caused the ground to quake, and had created a massive fissure that stretched on beyond visible range upon impact.
What’s more, was that the ice sword Jeune created, had broken into countless pieces.
The freezing enchantment tried to work; however, Jamie simply roused his energy and broke out of its effect with ease.
As for the projectile that Jeune had thrown out earlier? It disappeared into the void as Jamie originally intended.
"...How...?"
Jeune was so dumbfounded by the current situation, alternating his dazed gaze between the broken sword in his hands and Jamie’s unscathed arm.
When Jamie turned his gaze towards him, the half-giant snapped out of it and jumped back, but his opponent had no intention of attacking. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"Surprised?"
Jamie started taking off his blazer, holding it up and dusting the arm with a handkerchief to remove the ice shards on it,
"It looks nice, doesn’t it? Miranda had it made for me."
He apported a cloth hanger into his palm and hung the blazer on it before putting it into his subspace as he continued.
"Ever wondered what the materials your father’s clothes are made out of?"
The instant Jeune heard Jamie’s question, he instantly understood why his strike had done nothing to the Hybrid. His own and his father’s clothes were made out of high-level monster materials, and he had been told Jamie was someone as strong as Dragon King Ikerth, his father’s superior.
With that logic, it stood to reason that Jamie’s own clothes would certainly not be made of normal threads.
He momentarily wondered what kind of materials, and as if reading his thoughts, Jamie answered whilst folding up the sleeves of his white shirt.
"Unlike the one I was wearing when Pirantu decided to bore a hole in my chest, this Is one of my old Suits.
The threads used to make this were extracted from an Arachne...one that was well above Transcendence."
Looking at Jeune he concluded.
"Unless you can deal enough damage to break that kind of being’s defence, you certainly would not be able to bypass my suit."
Jeune’s current facial expression screamed ’What the fuck?!’, but the man took deep breaths and tried to keep a clear mind.
’Froid de Sérénité.’
