Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 82: Lieutenant Brambus II
It did not even take half a second after Brambus heard that voice for his body to swivel to the side, and his destruction energy-coated claw to swipe at the entity who had suddenly appeared beside him.
**BOOOMM!!!!
A huge explosion rang out, one that even pushed back the other transcendent dragon who was on the ground beside him, but Brambus could not care less at this point.
"Using Spatial Mimicry against a Transcendent’s attacks is a lot harder than I thought..."
Brambus threw out a second attack with both claws but the man just shook his head and teleported away.
"I don’t think I have the energy required to use such a high-level technique repeatedly."
This little scene left most of the Liberation Front members dumbfounded, as the reaction of the High Dragon Brambus, was far from what they had expected.
More so than Miranda who they knew as a ’Special Grade’ threat already, Brambus seemed warier of Jamie who they knew next to nothing about.
"Hey, you stupid lizard. I was talking to you."
Miranda’s slightly annoyed voice rang out as she dipped her hand into her subspace and pulled out a gigantic double-headed hammer.
"How dare you?!"
The two other Transcendent dragons, young dragons from Estea who were sent here to ’gain experience’ flipped out in rage and attempted to attack Miranda.
However, Brambus silently caught their tails with his hands and pulled their large bodies back to the ground with ease.
Though both were Inferior transcendents, comparing them to Brambus was like comparing normal existences to nonstandard, the difference in strength was clear.
"You two deal with those foolish Zotovians hiding in the shadows."
The man’s words revealed that from the start, he had detected the three hidden Transcendents of the Liberation Front and had simply chosen not to say anything earlier.
Since their presences had been revealed, the transcendents wasted no time in hiding anymore, emerging from their hiding places and charging towards the two dragons with their auras flared.
In response, the dragons flared their energies and condensed them in their maws, opening up the scene with simultaneous breath attacks towards their opponents who had no choice but to dodge.
"Keep your battles away from here."
Brambus’ next order came in and the two dragons took to the skies, one of them launching his body forward so fast that the transcendent was barely given time to react. He bit onto the man’s arm with his razor-sharp teeth, and then flung his body through the air and towards the wall of Jamie’s barrier.
Just before his back could slam into it, Jamie opened it up and let him fly out the barrier, with the dragon chasing right after him with a breath attack charging up.
The same was done for the other dragon who took his opponent to the other side, as well as the third transcendent who rushed to support his injured companion.
Jamie then clapped his palms together and slowly expanded them, his actions causing the effective range of the barrier to double in an instant.
Looking towards Anda, he spoke.
"This thing’s energy-consuming, so it’d be best if you joined in cleaning up the dragons within the barrier so I can disable it."
Certainly, if Anda joined the fray, then there was nothing the remaining wounded Sovereign Dragons could do about it but sit back and obediently wait for their deaths.
They looked to Brambus for help, but the High Dragon’s focus was already divided between the Hybrid Couple and the fourth humanoid who had entered with him.
Destruction Law energy surged from within him and mixed with his bright red flames, lighting up his form as he prepared for battle.
"All right, Mira. I’d leave him to you."
"Got it."
"...Wha-?!"
The Dragon did not even have the time to be fully surprised at Jamie’s words which sounded like he had no intention to fight when Miranda charged at him with the double-headed hammer in hand.
She infused it with her purple aura and slammed it towards his head, intending to bash his skull but there was no way a transcendent on his guard would be caught with such a simple attack.
The dragon leapt backwards in time to avoid getting a new concussion, leaving Miranda’s hammer without a target.
**BOOMMMMM!!!!
As Miranda’s double-headed hammer struck the ground, a resounding explosion echoed through the battlefield. The impact sent shockwaves rippling across the earth, causing the nearby terrain to tremble and shake.
Brambus swiftly flapped his massive wings, propelling himself higher into the air with practised ease to avoid the shockwaves her attack had sent out.
He wasted no time in gathering his draconic power which surged up his throat like a molten river. His Dragon Authority was activated and a breath in the form of a searing stream of molten lava was unleashed toward Miranda.
In response, Miranda reacted swiftly, releasing her grip on the hammer with one hand. She channelled her magic power through her arm, compressing it into a radiant ball of purple energy that hovered in front of her delicate fingers.
In the next moment, she unleashed this concentrated energy as a beam of brilliant purple light that surged toward the incoming breath.
"Shit!!"
Anda cursed out loud as he landed on the ground and released magic power from his body, enveloping the area surrounding Miranda and Brambus with it just in time for the two attacks to collide.
**KABOOOMM!!
The collision between the molten lava breath and the purple energy blast was a spectacle to behold, creating a dazzling display of contrasting colours and intense heat.
Level 940 vs Level 1000.
This was not the kind of battle that anyone below 900 could be near and escape unscathed, but thanks to Anda, they were spared from the fate of death.
The Liberation Front soldiers heaved sighs of relief; as if they had just been given new leases on life.
None of the two forces could overpower the other completely, with the battlefield quivering in the ferocity of their power for as long as they pushed against each other.
Neither Brambus nor Miranda had any intention to relent, with the power behind their attacks being evenly matched.
If there was any confusion about why they were matched even though Miranda was higher levelled, then remember that Brambus used his Breath Attack whilst Miranda only activated a Normal Grade skill: Energy Blast.
Miranda’s body slowly ascended from the ground that had already turned to molten earth due to the heat from Brambus’ breath.
The onlookers could only watch in awe as the two attacks finally cancelled each other after a long yet short clash.
Beating his wings, Brambus flew higher into the sky and Miranda followed suit with acceleration no less than his.
The dragon had tried to discern the level of this ’Avatar’ of Miranda’s, but had failed multiple times, leaving him no choice but to give up on that endeavour and focus more on how he was going to handle her incoming attacks.
By the time they had both ascended above the clouds, Miranda’s fingers held not a double-headed hammer, but a Great sword that was almost as tall as she was.
The woman spun this massive weapon around with ease and encased it in a layer of her purple aura, swinging it downwards in an arc, releasing a slash of aura that Brambus countered with a swing of his claws.
Miranda dashed forward and performed a series of powerful sword slashes, the force behind each one parting the clouds below and knocking down flying dragons with its shockwaves.
The Dragon waved his hands in response, conjuring an array of magic spells that met each of her strikes and nullified them.
He flapped his wings and took distance from her, before his body began to shrink rapidly, reducing from its length of twenty metres to a mere two.
’For someone like her, my normal size is nothing but a large target. This more compact form would give me more speed while retaining my original explosive power.
And in this form...’
He summoned a weapon from his subspace and infused it with his destruction and fire law energy mix. The ease at which the weapon absorbed the energies and amplified their power by two times made Miranda raise a brow in light surprise for a moment.
But it was only for a moment.
Ruindeum Sword or not, the woman was confident in defeating Brambus here today.
◇ ◇ ◇
While Miranda and Brambus duked it out above the skies, Jamie was duking things out, with someone he could only see as a Brambus Junior.
Multiple explosions rang out in quick succession, but Jamie dodged each one with ease, not suffering even a single scratch from them.
**WHOOSHHH!!
A supersonic punch aimed right at his skull was avoided with minimal movement, and so was the low sweeping kick that came after, and the high kick aimed towards his body that jumped to avoid the previous attack.
Jamie jumped backwards and landed on his feet, grabbing the neck of an unfortunate fox beastman who was amongst the Dragon’s allied forces and slicing his neck without hesitation.
