Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 79: Flugel 1 – 1 Dragon
Without a moment’s rest, the dragon summoned a pair of clawed gauntlets above his arms and covered his tail in armour made of a similar material. He then proceeded to enchant them with a dark greenish law energy that gave one chills just by looking at it.
Even a child who didn’t know what magic was would know this was definitely poisonous. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
With a beat of his wings, the dragon shot forward, striking multiple times while Trisgella manoeuvred in the air, trying to avoid the toxic payload the claws carried.
He reactivated his Divine Smite and infused it with as much light law energy as he could, before meeting the dragon’s claws with the radiantly shining blade.
The man tilted his blade diagonally, letting the dragon’s claws slide off before pulling the sword back and using his left hand which was coated in energy to push the dragon’s claw away.
With his right hand, he stabbed the dragon’s arm with his blade and infused as much of his aura as possible into the dragon’s body.
This was cut short, however, when the dragon’s tail came flying in, its spiked tip bashing through Trisgella’s hastily made barrier and slamming into the Flugel’s torso.
**BAMMMM!!!
Sound was left behind as Trisgella’s body was sent hurtling towards the ground, smashing through the ruins of a skyscraper and then crashing onto the unforgiving earth.
As he tumbled on the floor, he slammed into the bodies of both Liberation Front Soldiers and dragons, the force and power behind his movement being so great that all those hit by him were blasted to smithereens.
Blood poured out of the man’s lips, his complexion beginning to pale as he found himself having difficulty breathing.
He ignored his body that was screaming in pain and summoned his shield, using it to force his body up and look at his side that had been hit, praying to both god and mad that he did not see the colour ’green’.
Unfortunately, his prayer was a tad bit late, as a section of his torso was stained in a mixture of his red blood and a gooey green liquid.
’Fuck! He had poison on his tail!’
Trisgella roused his energy and tried to expel the poison from his body, but he quickly discovered that his energy was being ’destroyed’ by the poison.
With this, he was able to discover something else.
The metallic coat that surrounded the Dragon’s tail, was made of Ruindeum, and its destructive properties were countering Trisgella’s energy.
The Dragon had gotten one up on Trisgella, but so had the flugel.
"Remote Energy Detonation."
Those three words infused with power resonated with the aura that Trisgella had poured into the dragon’s body, one the scaled creature was having a very hard time removing due to the Anti-dragon properties of the flugel’s sword.
The energy crackled and pulsed with unstable force, coursing deeper into the dragon’s limb before explosion with a bright flash of light.
The dragon’s entire arm was violently torn asunder, reduced to smouldering shreds of flesh and shattered bone.
Concussive shockwaves from the blast radiated outward, and when combined with the explosion’s ferocity, it blasted away some of the dragon’s scales, leaving raw, exposed skin beneath.
Even his face bore a bit of the explosion’s brunt, but most importantly, the explosive force also affected one of his wings and rendered it useless.
With his balance lost and one of his wings damaged, the dragon careened through the air, chaotically plummeting towards the ground.
By a twist of fate, the creature landed at a distance that was neither too far, nor too close from Trisgella.
A distance whose midpoint was marked by the spot where Navarre stood.
The Dragon lost one arm and a wing, whilst Trisgella had his side wounded by injuries he could not heal, and a venom slowly weakening him.
Both parties struggled to their feet, glaring straight at each other while their subordinates clamoured to their sides, attempting to heal and guard them.
This section of the battlefield, the central area of Fusevale was silent, for a moment, as if the death and destruction going on in other parts of the city did not matter.
It was then, it happened.
"?!"
[What?]
"Who?!"
Trisgella, the dragon and Naverre, being the strongest in this area were the first to sense it, a moment before the others all did.
Someone had just seamlessly appeared within their perception range as if he had just phased into existence between them.
"Yo."
A casual-sounding voice carrying that little greeting rang out, its speaker swinging an arm over Navarre’s shoulder as he glanced around.
Navarre quickly reacted, grabbing the arm and swinging the person over his shoulder with as much force as he could muster.
However, contrary to expectations, the person did not slam onto the unforgiving ground below as they all expected; instead, he eased himself out of Navarre’s grip and landed on his two feet.
"That’s not the kind of return greeting I expected."
The suit-wearing man spoke with a wry smile on his face, before taking a few steps back to avoid Navarre’s punch.
"What did you expect given the current situation?"
A female voice replied to his statement, and when eyes turned towards the direction of the speaker, jaws dropped in shock.
Navarre and Trisgella were the first to recognize the person, given they had just had a meeting discussing her a few days ago.
The dragon, on the other hand, felt she looked familiar but could not quite remember where he had seen her.
"Special...Grade."
One of the Liberation Front Third Classes muttered, making her gaze turn towards him and the light of recognition flash through her eyes.
"Ah, you’re the one who was spying on us during breakfast the other day, weren’t you?"
Though Miranda questioned him, she was already sure he was the one. Leaving aside the way he looked at her, Miranda could not mistake someone she had used Mind Compulsion on recently.
Her words made Jamie turn towards him momentarily, discerning the man’s affinities and all the law energies he could manipulate with a glance.
This was a boon of possessing a ’Pseudo-authority. It was 99.99% impossible for existences without one to hide their affinities and attributes from you.
It worked that way with Full Authorities and Pseudo ones, but that wasn’t a focus right now.
What was a focus, was that Jamie and Miranda; two beings from which they could sense great power, suddenly intruded into their battle out of nowhere.
The Dragons were cautious, especially from Miranda who gave off a similar feeling to the Lieutenant, and the Liberation Front was wary of the Special Grade threat and the unknown variable she was with.
"Members of the Liberation Front, you’re in luck today. We’ve decided to choose sides."
Miranda suddenly spoke those words to the two Second Classes present, at the same time that Jamie blinked right in front of Navarre and spoke.
"Good work, kid. But any longer and your energy core would not be able to take it anymore."
*SNAP!
Jamie snapped his thumb and middle finger beside Navarre’s ear faster than the man could react, and his vision instantly grew hazy, before being clouded by darkness.
Like a puppet whose strings had been abruptly snapped, Navarre collapsed in Jamie’s direction, completely unconscious.
Seeing Navarre fall towards Jamie, Trisgella roused his energy and kicked off the ground, intending to save his comrade.
"Let go of h-ak!"
Unfortunately, the flugel was still injured, and his movements only made things worse. He dropped to his knees and vomited black blood, followed by the worried voices of the Third Classes who tried to heal him or extract the poison to no avail.
"Let me help you with that."
He suddenly heard Miranda’s voice come from beside him and before he could say anything in response, the woman’s hand moved towards his side with energy surrounding it.
Right before his and the dragon’s shocked eyes, she extracted all the foreign energy in him, both the venom and the destruction essence infused by the Ruindeum.
"You should be able to heal yourself now. Your soul is still slightly damaged by the destruction essence, but that’s not enough to kill you."
Miranda then turned towards Jamie whilst holding up the ball of venom, mixed with black blood and destruction energy.
"Jay, this stuff is quite ingenious. The kind of thing Big Sis would like."
The instant that the words; ’Big Sis’, left Miranda’s lips, Jamie, who had tossed the unconscious Navarre’s body over his shoulder flinched, before slowly turning towards her and speaking.
"Mira."
"Yes?"
"Your elder siblings don’t happen to be aware that I’m awake, do they?"
Miranda took a moment to think about it, tossing the venom on the ground and ignoring how it rapidly melted a hole in the earth.
"Considering the display you put on in Estudiam, and the fact that those teenage werewolves who tried to awaken you have long since reported back to the Werewolves’ Ruling Council...there’s a high chance they’re already aware.
And if may add, they’re pissed at you for abruptly leaving me alone for 12,000 years. So..."
With a bright smile that could make one’s heart skip a beat, she concluded.
"Prepare yourself."
