Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 76: The Peak Sovereigns duke it out
Down on the ground, Anda’s eyes widened in shock as he sensed the power in the breath and knew that much less the 10,000 soldiers in the division, even some of the Dragons would also be annihilated by this attack.
What’s more, from the Dragon who attacked, he sensed power a stage higher than what their intel had uncovered.
’Superior Stage Sovereign!’
"Trisgella!"
"Already on it!!"
Trisgella randomly tossed the barrier generator in his hands aside, kicking off the ground and blitzing towards the incoming dragon breath as fast as he could.
The Sound barrier was left behind as he surged forward, summoning a metal shield that he infused with his energy, causing an expansion in both defensive power and size, reaching nearly five feet tall.
But this shield was still too small to do anything against the incoming blaze of death, and Trisgella knew this.
So, he threw his unique skill into the mix.
Against the Serious attack from a peak Sovereign Dragon, a half-baked defence was as good as none.
Trisgella’s feet landed on the ground in front of the army, raising his shield in the air and angling it towards the sky in the direction of the incoming breath.
"Unique Skill: Walled Guardian!!"
With both hands, he slammed the shield into the ground, followed by the rumbling of the earth as a giant massive ethereal wall of energy erupted, ascending toward the sky.
Immediately after, the dragon’s breath collided with the shield in a blinding explosion, one so bright that those behind the shield were momentarily blinded by its intensity.
Trisgella was pushed back greatly, but he stood his ground and channelled more energy into his skill, activating the second effect.
Following this, the rest of the energy beam was redirected skyward, piercing the clouds and causing an explosion high above.
Shockwaves radiated in all directions, parting the clouds and impacting, the ethereal shield construct that was already fragile after taking on the dragon breath and causing cracks to spread out across it.
Silence pervaded the entire battlefield right after, with Trisgella deactivating his skill and taking a moment to catch his breath.
’The battle just began and I already need to use a potion!’
The man suppressed the annoyance growing within him and tried to keep a calm mind, shrinking his shield back to normal size and pulling out his sword simultaneously.
The weapon gleamed with ’Anti Dragon’ factors, the aura it emanated making the lesser dragons who tried to attack him after seeing him look exhausted back away.
He then shifted his shoulder lightly, and with a flash of light, a pair of bright white feathery wings emerged from his back.
Flapping them lightly, Trisgella took to the skies with his sword and shield held ready for combat.
[Hmm? A Flugel? A mere fake angel?]
Trisgella’s face contorted in anger upon hearing the dragon’s words. If calling a Dragon, a ’Lizard’ was enough to send them into a frenzy, so was calling a Flugel a ’Fake Angel’—both surefire ways to provoke them.
The man’s wings spread out and his magic power surged with so much density that it gained a tangible physical form.
The pressure he released affected both enemies and allies, forcing some of them to their knees in weakness.
[You seem to have some spunk in you. But it matters not.]
The dragon’s humanoid body exploded into a massive pillar of flames, dying down a few seconds later to reveal his majestic red-scaled form with a whooping 20-metre wingspan.
Puffs of flames seeped out the gaps of his open maw, his teeth, as razor-sharp as his claws, glinting in the sunlight.
[I’d skin you alive like the chicken that you are.]
"Shut the fuck up! Stupid Lizard!"
Trisgella cursed out as he flapped his wings and activated another skill, causing a thin layer of white light to encase his body and his weapons.
Without hesitation, he shot forward, blitzing towards the dragon who charged at him with magic circles rapidly spinning beneath his wings.
***BOOOOMMM!!!!
Their initial clash resulted in an explosion, one that marked the beginning of the battle between the two strongest Sovereign Realm combatants on both sides.
◇ ◇ ◇
Trisgella’s fight with the Peak Sovereign Dragon was one that affected the troops down below. Thanks to the flugel who took the battle high above the clouds, the impact on the giant armies on the ground was not as much as it should have been.
But with their battle as the cue, the other Sovereign Dragons emerged and charged towards the Liberation Front’s armies with their auras flared.
The Liberation Front did not sit back and allow these dragons to decimate their forces. Some of the Jeune Commanders sat back and assisted Anda in controlling the armies whilst the others joined the fray.
The battle between the Ikerth’s Dragon Army, their allies, and the valiant Zotovians was nothing short of devastating.
It was a fight that shook the very foundations of Fusevale, turning half of the once-prosperous city into a chaotic battlefield.
Roaring dragons swooped through the sky, unleashing torrents of energy upon their enemy forces, and launching magic of all elements. The earth trembled underfoot as the earth-shattering spells collided with powerful dragon breaths, creating colossal explosions that sent shockwaves rippling through the city streets.
Buildings were reduced to rubble, streets torn asunder, and fires blazed uncontrollably, painting the city in hues of crimson and orange.
The clash of magical energies lit up the sky with dazzling displays of colours, illuminating the horrors of war etched on the faces of those fighting for their homeland.
As half of Fusevale had transformed into a nightmarish battleground, the other half was under the protection of one of the army corps, one consisting of tens of thousands of soldiers dedicated to evacuating the non-combatant Zotovians.
They shielded the vulnerable from the shockwaves and devastation whilst guiding them to safety.
Their mission was twofold: firstly, to evacuate the non-combatants to a secure location, away from the relentless conflict; and secondly, to transport them far from Fusevale, where teleportation could be utilized without the interference of the barrier that Trisgella had activated.
They worked tirelessly, ensuring that the innocent would escape the horrors of battle and find refuge beyond the war-torn city.
As for the battles between combatants of the Legendary Realm and above, they were all filled with destruction, literally.
The Dragons, having harvested Ruindeum from Zotov’s depths for centuries, wielded weapons and armour forged from this coveted resource.
With these extraordinary armaments, they proved to be formidable adversaries, capable of countering the Zotovians armed with anti-dragon weaponry.
In this strange stalemate, neither side could claim a decisive advantage. The Ruindeum-enhanced weaponry of the Dragons allowed them to hold their ground against the anti-dragon weapons wielded by the valiant Zotovians.
This could be seen as a testament to the Dragons’ determination to maintain their grip on the resource-rich lands of Zotov.
Both sides fought tooth and nail with each other, with war cries and death throes echoing from every corner of the battlefield.
High up in the sky, Anda watched the situation closely, paying attention to both the situation on the ground as well as Trisgella’s battle above the clouds.
Floating beside his ear was a walkie-talkie, one connected using a secure channel that was not subjected to the network scrambling that Trisgella’s barrier had created.
’Anti-teleportation and selective network disruption. Just where did Commander Dornik find such artifacts...’
The thoughts floating through his head were ones he never had any intention of voicing out, especially since the person on the other end of the line with him was Dornik himself.
[Keep a close eye on the situation. The Dragons could have other hidden forces we were not able to uncover any information about, the same way we have hidden information about our new First-Class Combatants.
That Semi-Second Grade dragon being a Peak Sovereign is a clear example.]
"Yes, sir. I’d make sure to keep a-huh?"
[Is there a problem?]
Anda narrowed his eyes and focused his aura on a particular place in the city, more precisely, the line that acted as the divisor between the battlefield and the area where non-combatants were being evacuated.
"There’s something there that’s blocking my perception..."
His words piqued Dornik’s interest and the Commander was wondering if his words had just come to pass when Anda suddenly gasped in shock.
[Anda?! What’s the situation?!]
"..."
The Transcendent thought about how he could possibly explain the situation to Dornik, but in the end, he settled on using just two words.
"She’s here."
[’She’? Who?]
Dornik was momentarily confused, but that confusion vanished when he heard Anda’s next mutter.
"Odd-eyed..."
[?!
The heck?! How did she...no, that’s not important.]
The man gave up on understanding how the subject of their conversation had suddenly appeared in Ridrea when he had just made confirmation that she was somewhere within Whitemere as at the time Anda deployed the first barrier.
She could enter their world without the Planet’s Consciousness itself detecting her if she wished, what was a mere barrier activated by a mortal to her?
[Is she alone?]
