Chapter 72: The Liberation Front II

Special Grade Threat:

Dragon King Ikerth Xagem.

The image there was one of a man with skin taking on a reddish-brown hue, eyes a fiery shade of crimson and long red hair that matched the flames he burned their world with.

This man heralded the incursion of many otherworlders into their world; those who wanted to take a bite out of the pie that was Zotov.

His forces did not only constitute Dragons, but the beings of other races, serving other Race Kings who were business and military Allies with Ikerth—Estean and non-Estean included.

To the people of the Alenlet continent who knew about the threat ranking system, Ikerth was the only Special Grade Threat on the list.

However, all those in the Liberation Front and the higher-ups of the Zotovian military, knew that there wasn’t just one.

The Commanders present turned their gazes to the other image on the chart’s Special Grade slot, to the other Estean Race King.

"Well, it’d be ’Queen’ in her case."

"The Estean Werewolves deified her as the ’Odd-Eyed Wolf goddess’. She’s a threat at least on the same level, or maybe even higher than Ikerth.

Miranda Scott."

It was no surprise that the people of Zotov Considered the female Hybrid to be a threat. Especially since It was no secret amongst the Commanders that she had amassed her own forces on their planet, and had even absorbed one of the constituent forces of the Liberation Front into hers in the past.

"She’s been around for close to a century, and she hasn’t shown any signs of antagonizing us in that time. The only major action she’d taken was taking over ’those guys’ during that internal strife all those years ago."

Just as the person speaking; one of the younger commanders, was about to suggest having her threat level reduced, Dornik spoke up.

"A Century might be a lot for you—a third of your entire life so far, but to beings above Transcendence, a century isn’t that a long time.

Besides, we all know that she has not paid us much attention because she has other businesses elsewhere in the Galaxy, possibly in other Galaxies too."

The man readjusted his sitting position, propping his chin on his palm before continuing.

"She has not shown hostility towards us, that much is true. She even seems to have some issues with Dragon King Ikerth.

But do not for one moment, be under the mistaken assumption that she’s our ally."

When he spoke, his grey eyes seemed to flash with a strange light that no one present missed, making them swallow their breaths audibly before all turning silent.

Dornik had once told them that if he was to inform them about all the information he’d gathered on Miranda, Ikerth would seem like ’child’s play’ to them.

"Sir, Regarding this woman..."

"Is there anything you should report?"

Facing Dornik’s gaze, the uniformed man—someone who also happened to be the Lord of Metin City, nodded and spoke.

"One of my subordinates gave me a report that led me to believe that she might currently be present on our planet."

Expressions of shock adorned the faces of all those present, Dornik included. The Commander in Chief’s brow twitched lightly as he questioned the City Lord.

"Do explain to me why you did not report this since.

The presence of a Special Grade threat is a matter of utmost importance. They are capable of entering into our world without us realising a thing.

No spatial distortions, nor disturbances to the World’s barriers, no nothing."

"...I intended to gain confirmation first. The report I received stated it was only a sighting of someone who fit her description and they were not entirely sure."

"Not so sure? What are the odds that there could be another purple-silver-haired woman with heterochromatic eyes and a purple flower accessory that’s perpetually in her hair?"

There was silence in the room after Dornik’s question until one of the lowest-ranked commanders who was counting something on his fingers muttered to himself.

"...considering our planet’s population is in the billions, there’s a pretty high chance."

His voice was very low, but all those present were at least Legendary Realm existences with superhuman hearing; there was no way they’d miss his mutter in such close proximity.

They all simultaneously turned towards him with silent glares, the pressure making him sweat bullets while making himself smaller, literally.

Dornik shook his head silently before returning his attention to the Commander/City Lord and inquiring about where this sighting occurred.

"It was in Metin. At the entrance of a Hotel."

"Metin, huh? I guess that brings us to the main issue of today."

The moment he spoke, the Commander’s demeanours increased in seriousness by about a level as it was now finally time to broach the main topic of the meeting.

The projection on the round table in the room’s centre changed, displaying multiple pictures of a landscape devastated beyond repair.

"Damage Report:

One Mountain, estimated height of 5136 metres completely vaporized.

Metin Forest Estate was reduced to ashes.

358 square kilometres of forestry and monster habitat were destroyed.

A portion of Metin’s State Natural Reserves scorched, with the District’s largest lake evaporated...

..."

As each line of the Damage Report flowed out of the official’s lips, Dornik silently shook his head and rescinded his earlier scolding of the Metin City Lord.

’He was probably too preoccupied dealing with the aftermath of this to even pay attention to a potential Special Grade threat sighting.’

"Any leads on what truly transpired here?"

"Not many.

There were no traces left in the area that could let us figure out what occurred. Even those with Retrocognitive abilities could not find a thing. It was as if everything had been wiped clean."

The official spoke with a grave expression on his face, the light of the projection revealing the eyebags underneath his eyes as he minimized the displayed pictures and pulled up another set.

"We found this...a pool of blood on the floor where the mountain stood. Thanks to the dense energy within it, it had not completely dried up when we arrived, so we could get a sample to test.

After analysis, we confirmed it was dragon blood."

He pointed at the analysis results being displayed, though a lot of them could not understand most of the terms written there.

"How many blood samples did you get?"

"Well, ’A lot’.

The sheer amount of Damage indicates that at the very least, Sovereign Realm existences battled there, and from all the blood that had not yet dried up on the floor, we discerned they were all from a dragon—the same dragon."

Everyone present understood what the official was insinuating without him needing to spell it out.

They all had the same thoughts too.

Someone had fought a Sovereign Realm dragon there, and that person most likely won. The questions left now, were ’Who was it?’ and ’Which Dragon was it?’.

But as they had zero leads on answering those, they had no choice but to put it on hold and move on to the second most important thing of the meeting.

"How’s the plan to attack the other continent going?"

"We should be able to execute the plan in two days."

A glimpse of the Liberation Front’s next line of activities reared its head, something that removed the perpetual frown on Dornik’s face and switched it up with a light smile.

"Two days, huh? That’s if whatever happened at Metin does not cause unexpected variables."

His deep voice echoed across the silent room, and just as he was about to ask another question, the doors suddenly swung open and someone barged into the room.

"Apologies for the Intrusion, Sirs! I bring an urgent report."

The intruding man spoke with a loud voice, before glancing at his direct superior, the Lord of Metin who quickly figured out the reason why the man barged in.

"Perhaps...?"

"Your decision to give the order has borne fruit, my Lord. After scanning a radius around the city and requesting help from some Officials of Whitemere, we were able to make a confirmation.

The Special Grade threat is currently in Whitemere City."

Meanwhile, said Special Grade threat was currently seated on her king-sized bed, her duvet roughly draped over her lap as she stared in front of her with half-lidded eyes still full of sleep.

"Jay...close the curtains."

With a drowsy voice, she called out to the man seated beside the window, gazing out the horizon with a cup of steaming coffee in his hands.

Her words prompted him to turn to her with his head tilted, before gesturing out the window and saying.

"But the morning sun is good for your skin?"

"It’s annoying."

Seeing as he had no intentions of closing it, Miranda waved her hands and the curtains closed themselves, about to return to dreamland when Jamie suddenly chuckled lightly.

"Reminds me of when the sun still affected you."

His words reminded Miranda of the period of time right after she had just become a Hybrid and was in some sort of a transition state.
