Chapter 73: Half the Menu

Then, she still had not only the Vampire Race’s weaknesses, but that of werewolves as well, and it was literal hell for her.

After all, she ended up spontaneously combusting if even a small part of her body was exposed to sunlight.

Those were undisputedly the worst couple of months of her life.

Eventually, the transition state ended and she acquired her complete immunity to ’light from suns’ and whatever weaknesses they inflicted on Vampires.

Jamie reminding her of this had her glaring at him, a tinge of jealousy in her eyes as he did not go through the same ’sun-torture’ she and the other complete Hybrids did.

He had always been immune from the start, even though his concentration of Vampiric Racial Factors was more than theirs.

"Cheat..."

The man chuckled lightly as he set down his teacup, before moving towards the bed whilst Miranda looked on with light confusion.

It was only when he climbed onto it did realisation flash through her eyes.

"Get away from me! Beast!"

She grabbed the pillow she was laying her head on and tossed it at his face, scooting over to the edge of the large bed as fast as she could.

"Really, Mira?"

"Stay away you sex beast! ...dammit! Where’s my cross?"

The woman began frantically searching for her exorcism instrument, a sight that Jamie found both funny and nostalgic.

With a flick of his wrist, her body was warped over to where he was, and she reacted like a cat about to get tossed into water, flailing around whilst hitting him to make him loosen his grip on her.

"You act like this now, but if I recall correctly, you were the one who begged me not to stop—multiple times at that."

Miranda’s face flushed red when Jamie reminded her of her actions which in turn caused him to be more intense.

"And now, with the way you’re acting, it’s like you’re almost begging me for another round."

She snapped out of her daze when she heard him speak, her attention briefly returning to the fact that she was practically naked underneath the sheets covering her.

Without hesitation, she pushed the man off the bed and tried to rush off herself, but the moment she got off the furniture piece, she dropped to the ground weakly.

"...huh?"

"Mira?"

Jamie moved over to the side of the bed and saw her sitting on the ground with her back resting on the bedside stool, glaring at him with tears in her eyes.

"I think you may have dislocated my waist...it hurts."

"Pfft....BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

Unable to resist, the man guffawed loudly, much to Miranda’s annoyance as she created an energy bolt with her fingers and flicked it towards his head.

Even so, he carried on laughing without a care in the world.

Realising that nothing was going to stop Jamie at the moment, she gave up on that fruitless endeavour and instead focused on her own body, removing the ’limiter’ she had placed on her body’s recovery.

This was something she could easily do as she had near-perfect body control.

In that same second she released the ’limiter’, all the aching in her waist and any other pain she felt, even her light drowsiness cleared up like they were never there.

She got up to her feet and walked up to Jamie before smacking the back of his head and proceeding to the bathroom right after

"My body’s all sticky...I need to bathe."

Jamie perked his ears after hearing her light murmur, flashing in right beside her whilst taking off his bathrobe as he spoke.

"I’m joining you."

"Haven’t you already bathed?"

"Well, who says I can’t have two baths in the morning?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

The man did as he said, taking a second bath together with Miranda, and much to her surprise, he did not initiate anything.

He did tease her when he noticed she had been slightly expecting him to make a move though.

Fast forward to half an hour later, and the both of them were on the Apartment Complex’s ground floor restaurant.

They were attracting a lot, if not all the gazes in the restaurant, due to a mixture of both their appearances and their passive charm that could give some succubi a run for their money, something that was still very effective even under restraint.

Their outfits also served to complement their outstanding appearances as well, and within five minutes, they had more than five people asking them if they were Models or actors, while some asked them if they wanted to become any of the aforementioned professions.

Jamie, who was in corporate as always, had a navy-blue suit on with a tieless black shirt with the first two buttons open, together with similarly coloured leather shoes on his feet.

It would be best not to know what creature had been skinned to make his current outfit.

Miranda had a simple pure white tunic dress shirt with black leggings and white sneakers. In place of her usual flower-shaped fascinator was a butterfly-shaped one in her hair which she had up in a half ponytail.

Her other accessories matched the butterfly design, from the bracelet to the pendant on the necklace and the ring on her finger.

Not too surprising considering the woman liked butterflies as much as she did flowers, hence why Jamie had given her a lot of accessories with either of the two on them.

She even had a pet summoned entity that was a ridiculously sized giant butterfly.

’Hmm?’

Miranda who was remembering her pet, suddenly noticed one particular gaze that felt a bit ’different’ out of the dozens on her.

Upon turning her eyes in that direction and locking eyes with a man who was at a table close to the door, he hurriedly tried to look away and act natural.

Unfortunately for him, the instant she gazed at him, he froze up, his entire body and soul screaming at him to not even dare to move an inch.

In that same instant, her Mind Compulsion had already taken hold of him, but after a moment’s thought, she just shook her head and sighed before letting him go.

Leaving behind the Liberation Front official who was breathing heavily with fear in his gaze, she turned back to Jamie who was ordering everything on one half of the menu.

"You do realise I’m the one paying, right?"

Jamie went silent as soon as he heard her say that, before turning towards the waiter and speaking.

"Give me everything on the other half of the menu as well."

"Jamie?!"

"Pfft...I’m just kidding. Just add the whiskey."

After letting the waiter go off, Miranda’s gaze on Jamie turned inquisitive as she spoke.

"Whiskey, this early in the morning?"

"Is it made by Dwarven Deities?"

"No..."

"Then there’s no problem."

"Hmm...seems legit."

Everyone nearby who heard this little conversation wanted to scream out ’No, it does not!’ when they heard Miranda’s reply, but they all kept silent as commenting was the same as admitting they were eavesdropping, even though Jamie and Miranda were not really talking loudly.

"Get me one too."

As the waiter left, Jamie and Miranda engaged in small talk, mostly Miranda talking about things that happened whilst Jamie was asleep, while the man mostly listened with a smile on his face.

Jamie also chipped in with a little tale of his, regarding how his consciousness had been temporarily awakened sometime during the beginning of the 50th General calendar and he had astral projected himself to another planet, inhabited a body there and masqueraded as a Demon Race King for a while.

"Why’d you even do that?"

"I felt like it? I’m still not sure why I woke up at that particular point in time, but I do have a guess that’s probably 99% accurate.

But anyway, when I went there, I ended up meeting with two kids who were just like me. I learnt that ’Gravitational Singularity of Destruction’ technique from one of them.

They were just as nonstandard as I am."

Miranda’s eyes widened ever so slightly when she heard Jamie’s last statement, her interest piqued as knowing his ridiculously high standards, rating someone on the same level as himself was not something that happened often.

"How strong were they?"

"One was a Legendary, at merely 16 years old. Even we weren’t Legendries then. And what’s more, he had multiple Pseudo-Authorities, gained from comprehending laws."

"Huh? He could comprehend laws as a non-transcendent? That should not be possible unless he’s-"

"-a progenitor of a race."

Jamie completed Miranda’s words as he accepted the first tray the waiter brought, setting it in front of her and continuing.

"Indeed, he was. Turns out, he’s the younger version of ’that silver-haired guy’."

The woman didn’t take too long to understand who Jamie was talking about, considering there were not many other silver-haired people they were aware of with ’Unspeakable Names’.

"The second one was a ’Titled Hero’. Had a very annoying ability that took me a while to figure out. He was an Epic Realm, only at the inferior stage, but what made him peculiar were his circumstances.
