Chapter 66: Wings! Glorious Wings!!

"Wings! Glorious Wings!!"

A foot landed on her back and simultaneously, two hands grabbed onto both of her newly emerging wings.

At that moment, Pirantu instantly understood what Jamie was about to do, feeling the fear through her consciousness, through her soul fragment and down to her real body that wasn’t even on the planet.

Her reaction was quite explosive; literally.

***BOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!

A sudden explosion resonated through the sky, painting it with a burst of fiery brilliance. The dragon’s body became engulfed in searing, radiant red flames, a desperate and defensive action taken against the Hybrid who had attempted to assail her wings.

Flames Jamie had no choice but to let go of her wings in order to teleport away and avoid being burned.

"Hot wings...

Hey, Mira."

"What is it this time?"

"When we’re done with this, can we go get hot wings?"

Miranda looked at Jamie with an incredulous expression on her face, as If she could not believe that he had called her in the middle of combat, just to tell her that.

She shook her head with a light sigh and pointed at the hole on his chest that was only a quarter-way healed, before replying.

"Focus on healing that first. We’d get as many wings as you want after."

"Yay! Hot wings for the win!"

The purple-silver-haired woman only sighed once more, trying to keep a smile from appearing on her face when she saw Jamie’s excited expression.

"?"

The look on her face quickly changed a moment after, and she held up a peace sign, her body disappearing in the next instant.

"Wait up, I wasn’t done tal-huh?"

**BOOOOMMM!!!!

Pirantu’s breath attack burned that burned through the air, collided with the Hybrid’s body and engulfed him in an instant.

Looking at this scene from below, Miranda shook her head once more, before giving a momentary glance to her confused subordinate who was just arriving to meet with the sight of the devastated landscape and the beam of flaming light streaking through the air.

’Just what on Zotov is going on here!?’

Meanwhile, Pirantu released a loud roar, charging up energy once more and firing another breath attack straight towards the Hybrid who was falling towards the ground whilst removing his flaming jacket.

He had shielded his body from being burned by her breath attack using the energy of the law of fortification, something that still surrounded his form even now.

But Pirantu’s attack had succeeded in breaking a part of the multi-layered energy coat and the end result was the flaming jacket that he tossed towards the ground.

He then turned towards the incoming breath attack, a grin appearing on his face as he held out his right hand and made a gesture Pirantu found all too familiar.

*SNAP!

"Void."

Spatial law energy rapidly condensed in front of Jamie, blooming into a massive portal adorned with radiant blue energy that danced along the edge.

As for Pirantu’s breath attack, it disappeared beyond the wormhole, into the darkness stretching beyond.

The attack she had drawn upon her dwindling reserves of energy for was tossed into a void of nothingness just like that.

"This is easily my favourite ability."

As Jamie spoke, the dragon cancelled her breath attack halfway, as she knew that as far as that void portal was opened, using long-range or projectile-based attacks was a waste of energy.

Jamie figured out why she had done that, and he burst into a peal of laughter while compressing the size of the portal in front of him and holding it in his palms.

"Since we’re throwing out beams, here’s one for you.

Negative Energy Beam."

The portal unleashed a void-like beam that tore through the air on its path towards Pirantu, forcing the dragon to flap her wings and fly out of its path to dodge.

But Jamie only held up two fingers and moved them, refracting the space that the beam passed, causing its direction to change to one facing Pirantu’s new location.

The dragon tried dodging over and over, but Jamie moved his fingers and refracted the space each time, manually making it home in on her.

This left her Pirantu no choice but to consume energy in order to cancel out the attack.

"You could have gone at it for a while longer, you know? That was kinda fun."

Jamie clapped after speaking, teleporting himself right under her and grabbing onto her left leg with his hand. She tried punching down on his head with her arm but it was already too late.

The man used spatial distortion and folded in space to generate spatial pressure, crushing the entire leg and eliciting an agonized scream from her.

Simultaneously, he grabbed onto the hand she struck out with and pulled her over, causing her back to slam into his foot.

"Stop screaming so much, I’d heal you already."

As he said that, he forced his hand into her mouth, an action that made her bite down on him reflexively in response.

Blood spurted from his hand and into her mouth, and by Jamie’s will, it flowed into her body and stimulated her regeneration once more, healing the leg he had just damaged, as well as part of her other wounded arm.

"You have no idea how much I’m resisting the urge to snap your neck, right now."

Pirantu’s tail wrapped around Jamie’s leg mid-speech, pulling his body downwards and flinging him towards the ground.

She then fired another breath attack at the Hybrid right after, one Jamie countered with another Water Rune Magic spell.

"Hyrdoburst Torrent." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

This one was more focused on piercing capabilities, conjuring a surging torrent of water that erupted from the spell circle in a relentless spiralling vortex.

The rupturing blast of liquid force collided with her breath attack and broke through it, going on to relentlessly pummel her body while drenching her form.

Jamie then flashed in behind her with his arm coated in azure lightning, delivering a palm strike to her back and sending the lighting snacking through her form.

As the Dragon was being electrocuted by the elemental mix, Jamie cancelled the Hyrdoburst Torrent and switched elements, creating two short spikes of ice on his palms.

He slammed them onto the sides of Pirantu’s face, with the spike piercing through her cheeks from both ends.

The spikes collided with each other inside her mouth melding together into one and leaving her with one spike of cold frost piercing through her cheeks.

Jamie slid his hands down to her back, taking advantage of her temporary state of paralysis, courtesy of the earlier lightning shock to do what he had intended to do earlier.

With a foot on his back, the hybrid grabbed onto her wings and violently pulled them off her back, sending waves of pain racking her brain.

"I got the Wings!"

The man followed his shout up with a spinning roundhouse kick to her back, knocking her body out of the air and hurtling towards the ground.

He then held up the two wings he had just pulled out in one hand, engulfing them with his azure flames whilst grabbing his phone from his subspace and taking a selfie with the other one.

The man made sure to capture the falling dragon in the photo, holding up her wings and adding a caption that said ’Hot Wings: The Appetizer’.

He sent the picture to his entire contact list, which at the moment only consisted of the Vampire quintet, and then tossed the phone back into his subspace.

’It’d actually send when I get back into Estea’s Signal Range.’

Jamie doused the flames around the wings and sent them into the subspace along with the phone.

Descending to the ground, he looked at the wounded dragon who had blood spurting from her back, barely holding her body up on one knee whilst breathing heavily.

Silence pervaded the area as the man gazed at her calmly, giving her time to stabilize her breathing and gaze up at him through half-lidded eyes.

’I thought I was calm about it; I even went back to the base to get that weapon after noticing his presence. But in the end, it was still a rash decision.’

Such a thought passed through Pirantu’s mind, but she, more than anyone else knew that it was far too late for such thoughts.

Staggering to her feet, she looked at her hand and saw that though some of her bones were still broken, it was not to the level that she could not move it.

’This avatar is done for.

The recoil damage and the rules of this world would prevent me from making another one for a while, so I would not be able to carry out the duty His Excellency assigned me.’

Pirantu gritted her teeth in indignation at the thought of failing to accomplish the real task Ikerth had sent her here for.

’Even so, at the very least, I want to get one in on him!’

Her energy surged along with her thoughts, every single drop of magic power and aura within her, along with all of her draconic powers was gathered towards her heart.

Blood spurted from her energy circuits as they dried up, but she carried on without hesitation.

’I guess, I’d lose this soul fragment.’

A depreciating laugh escaped her lips as she turned her gaze to the sky, taking in the sight of the darkening clouds heralding the incoming rain.

She understood what she was about to do was the height of folly.

But there was no other option left for her in this case.

Pirantu’s head snapped back towards Jamie, her eyes opening fully as she stomped her foot on the ground and spoke with a low voice.

"Bounded Field."

"...huh?"

Jamie’s expression morphed into one of surprise when his ears caught onto her words, his senses picking up on the energy she sent from her feet and through the ground.

The energy of the law of space twisted and turned around the surroundings, melding in with the ambient fire law energy to weave a radiant network of energy that spread out like a spider’s web, enveloping everything within a 50-metre radius of her position in resplendent light.

It was not a large distance as she had done this with minimal energy, but that was not a problem given that Jamie was within that distance.

As for the Hybrid, he studied the mystic boundary line emerging around him while his brain drew up the information on the technique she had just used.
