Chapter 67: One Lieutenant Downed.

A Bounded Field was a topographic type technique that involved the user knitting boundary lines with universal law energy around a particular space to separate its inside from the outside, cutting off and isolating that space from the outside world and then imposing an effect on the inside.

It was the building block for an ability that any higher existence with a ’Territory’ possessed: Domain Declaration.

In the event that they were stuck in an unfavourable environment for battle, they could just declare the surrounding area as their Domain to tip the scales in their favour.

Putting it bluntly, Domain Declaration was just a higher level of Bounded Field creation, where space itself acted as the boundary line.

Of course, there were other things involved like authorities and law energies and so on, but the base was the same.

Anyway, this technique was one that involved ’spatial isolation’, and Pirantu was someone who was no stranger to Jamie’s superior spatial manipulation abilities, hence, the reason she considered her actions the height of folly.

But even if it was for a moment, she wanted to take advantage of that moment Jamie was confused, not having expected her to use a space-related ability against him of all people, to execute her real intention.

Using the energy from the bounded field creation as a cover, she ignited her energy core, her avatar’s Dragon Heart.

"Volcan-GYAK!!!"

Her words were cut short as a hand suddenly pierced her chest, breaking through her ribs and grabbing onto her heart.

"Seriously, woman. I could see your real intentions from a mile away."

Jamie’s disappointed voice rang out as his hand, engulfed in his azure blue energy, tightened its hold on her heart, whilst his energy forcefully quelled her igniting energy core and returned it to normal.

He then squeezed the organ lightly, but that ’light’ action elicited an agonized scream that rang out through the entire area, scaring even the Zotovian Legendries who were nearby to pull back in fear of whatever for make someone scream like that.

But then again, they could never understand the pain of having one’s heart squeezed directly.

Jamie had sent parts of his hand into a separate dimensional void to shift his physical form through space, allowing him to occupy physical space without a physical form.

This was what allowed him to phase through the blood vessels connected to the organ without destroying any of them, whilst simultaneously still being able to hold the heart physically.

And since she was an Intermediate Sovereign, and a Dragon, at that, Jamie knew this would not be enough to end her.

Besides, she was not the first dragon to be one of Jamie’s victims, so the man knew how to adjust the force he used and controlled the life law energy permeating through his arm so that he did not kill her on accident.

After she had fallen unconscious from the energy deficiency and pain mixed together, Jamie pulled out his bloody arm and let her body fall to the ground, before grabbing her by the leg and stomping on her knee to break the joint.

He then proceeded to drag her body across the ground as he walked back to where Miranda was, and by the time he had reached, his wound was half healed.

"You didn’t kill her?"

"Not yet. I haven’t found out why she suddenly attacked me in the first place, after all.

Besides, if I kill her avatar and her consciousness returns to her true body, Ikerth would know we’re here."

Although the beings of Zotov obviously realised some major battle had gone down here today, due to Miranda’s interference, no one could get within a certain range of the area and thus, no one knew who the parties fighting were.

"Still, considering her position in Ikerth’s army, it would not be long before her disappearance is treated as strange."

"True that."

Jamie replied as dropped Pirantu’s leg before turning his gaze towards the man who was looking at him with a mixture of shock and confusion.

"Is this the informant that you spoke of?"

"Yeah. He was part of the Liberation Front, but when I came here some time ago, I pulled him and some others over to my side."

"That so..."

As Jamie said that, his interest in the other man’s identity vanished and he returned his attention to Miranda.

"I’m assuming you have some kind of base on this world, shall we go there? I need to take a bath."

"Yep, you certainly need a bath."

Miranda replied as she took a few steps away from Jamie, waving one hand in front of her nose while the other constructed a six-ringed magic circle.

’Spatial Magic: Gate.’

Immediately after she activated the spell, Jamie teleported beside her and pulled her into a hug.

"What the-! Why?!"

"Now you need to take a bath too. I suggest we take one together."

"A bath together...wait! Get off me first!"

"Never."

The man circled his arms around her waist and lifted her up from the ground, before pulling her along with him into the spatial gate

As for the subordinate they left behind, the man silently picked up the unconscious Pirantu and followed them into the still-open gate, which then disappeared when he entered.

Right after, the barrier Miranda placed around the area vanished, and the Zotovian beings rushed in to check the situation, but all they were met with was the aftermath of the battle.

As for reading planetary records, taking out the fact that none of those present could do so, Jamie and Miranda’s Causality Indexes were so high that they prevented themselves from being seen in said records.

January 15th

Year 2018

Fast-forward to an hour after Pirantu’s miserable defeat and our resident Hybrid was now standing shirtless in front of a mirror, holding up a wireless clipper as he trimmed his hair.

"Hmm...this cut is better than before. It looks better without the stubble too."

Fully satisfied with what he had done, the man dropped the clipper before picking up the inner shirt that was hanging on the rack nearby, tossing it on right after.

An hour ago, he had a hole in his chest, courtesy of a certain Dragon who had sneak attacked him, but now, said hole had disappeared and his body looked like it had never suffered an injury.

On a side note, the railgun was destroyed by Jamie’s Gravitational Singularity of Destruction, so he could not retrieve the weapon and experiment on it like he wanted.

Though he was a bit miffed he didn’t get to it, he would still have done the same thing if he was given a chance to do it over, as that initial attack was what made the fight so easy for him.

The damage Pirantu had taken was just that much.

"Though if I had my c̴̛̛̠̘̠̞̳̻̲̼͈̫̺͍̓͛̈̆̉͐̊̿̏͜͝ī̴̲̙͙́̂̄̓̊̈́̓̾́̃̓̚̕͘͝͝m̷̢̨̛̪̠͚̘͈̯͎̞̱̙͓͋̽̊̊́̋̐̀̑ś̸̡̼̗͎̠̬̗͉̟̞̖̦̼͓͙̯̦͐̂͌̎̍̏̍͘͜ǒ̴̡̡̧̨̝̻̳̂̓ć̸̡̧̨͔̥̲͔͓̱̫̘̩͎̩͖͚̖͉͌ superiority, then it would have not been much of a problem. I just need a large enough source of that energy to trigger it once more.

I’d at least be a Sub."

While muttering to himself, he walked over to another room in the massive penthouse, where Miranda and five other people were present.

The unconscious Pirantu was chained to a chair with chains made of the very same metal that she and the other red dragons came to Zotov to mine, whilst the other four who were Miranda’s subordinates, stood to the side of the couch where the woman sat.

As it was the first time that they—minus the one who was left to carry Pirantu earlier—were seeing Jamie, they were all quite surprised as they had not believed the words their colleague had told them.

Their surprise only increased when Jamie casually walked up to Miranda and plopped down beside her, before lifting up her hands that were holding a tab, resting his head on her lap, and then putting them back down.

Never before had they seen someone act so ’audaciously’, with Miranda, and what’s more was that the woman casually began running her hand through Jamie’s hair like it was normal.

"The status quo has not really changed much over the years. In fact, things are even more unfavourable for the Liberation Front. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Many people are being oppressed by Ikerth’s forces as always, and even some of this world’s indigenous powerhouses have joined him."

Miranda spoke up while sliding across the screen of the tab, shaking her head in disappointment as the state of the tug of war for supremacy between the forces of Dragon King Ikerth and the Liberation Front—the coalition of all the forces that combined to resist his incursion into their world was worse than she had expected.

"The Zotovian Race King has been unusually silent in the past few years. I’m guessing it’s related to the planet’s promotion to a High-Level world."

"With the way things are, would It really be a good idea for the planet to promote right now?"

Jamie suddenly voiced out that question whilst reaching over for the television remote and teleporting it into his hand.

"Why’d you ask that?"

"If the planet promotes, then its world laws would temporarily be unstable till it gets used to its new stage.

Meaning the realm suppression effect would be gone, and since it’d be a High-Level World, Ikerth would be able to enter with his true body without running the risk of causality’s restrictions.

I don’t need to spell out the certain doom that means for the indigenes of this world.

Heck, even this unconscious lizard over here would be able to handle almost everything if she came with her true body; unless this planet has multiple Senior Race Lords too."

Almost as if she were reacting to Jamie’s words, Pirantu’s eyes slowly fluttered open, and she looked around in confusion.

Upon seeing Jamie and Miranda calmly sitting in front of her, she realised she had been captured.

An attempt to move, however, caused the pain of her broken knee and injured chest that she had been subconsciously shutting out to hit her, resulting in a grunt of pain escaping her lips.

Her next line of action was an attempt to forcefully disengage the avatar and return her consciousness to her true body, but this didn’t seem to work and she didn’t need too long to figure out why.

The odd-eyed Hybrid coldly gazing at Pirantu in silence gave the Dragon the answer she needed to know why her consciousness had been locked to the avatar.

Jamie held up his hands to the sides of Miranda’s face and pulled her attention toward him, before playfully poking her in the nose.

Right after, he sat up and faced Pirantu, drawing in the ambient essence of the law of death and coating his palm with it, before asking the dragon.

"Would you talk? Or I should just get the answers I want by myself?

I certainly hope you pick the second option though; I’d be happy to watch you writhe in pain from having your soul searched; even if it’s just a tiny piece of the full thing."

Although Jamie spoke with a smile on his face, the words that escaped his lips were not the kind that involved smiles at all.

"Don’t you think searching her soul directly would kill the fun?"

"How so?"

"It’d defeat the point of this adventure."

Miranda replied to Jamie as she dropped the tab in her hands, but the instant her eyes caught sight of the small burn still on the back of her palm, she quickly changed her mind.

"Scratch that, we’re digging through her soul. I want to know where that railgun came from and how many are out there."
