Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 321: ‘Moonfall’
’Davina’ let out a desperate battle cry as she unleashed every ounce of magic power she could muster in an instant, trying to offset the powerful energy surging down Jamie’s arm.
The moment their energies collided, a devastating shockwave erupted, flattening the entire continent, carving through every layer of the planet’s crust, stopping only at the final one just above the magma layer.
Before the blast died down or the shockwaves receded, Jamie, still holding ’Davina’ by the neck, hurled her skyward.
Her limbs flailed for a second before she regained control, but before she could even steady herself in mid-air, Jamie was already upon her.
Space ruptured as his foot slammed into her side with devastating force, the impact sending her rocketing toward the ground. Yet before she could even attempt to activate a skill to help her situation, Jamie was already beside her, seizing her arm and flinging her downward.
The wind howled around her as she plummeted, and barely a second later, Jamie descended after her, driving an axe kick into her shoulder that hammered her down even faster, the shockwave cracking the earth below before her body even made an impact.
The moment she struck the ground, Jamie landed beside her, dropping a serious punch onto her face, the force sending tremors through the already fractured land.
Without hesitation, he grabbed her by the collar, hoisting her into the air, then slammed her down with enough power to split yet another continent in half.
The planet groaned under the force, and without a shred of hesitation, Jamie dashed forward, dragging her head across the ravaged terrain, carving deep trenches into the ground.
He blitzed across the continent before finally flinging her body into the distance like a meteor.
Following up, he extended his hand and formed a finger gun, condensing spatial and destruction law energy at his fingertip.
"Spatial-Destruction Shot."
The compressed bullet of annihilation streaked through the air with pinpoint accuracy, aimed directly at her stomach. But just as it was about to strike, ’Davina’ unleashed a burst of condensed light law energy, creating a radiant blast that collided with the incoming attack, triggering an explosion that detonated it before it could reach her.
The shockwaves from the explosion blasted her backwards, sending her skidding across the ruined planetary surface. As the dust settled, she staggered, one knee dropping to the ground, her breath heavy and uneven.
Footsteps rang in her ears, drawing her gaze upward. Through the haze of azure flames left by the explosion, Jamie emerged, striding forward with unhurried steps.
His expression remained unchanged as he lifted his hand, the Galaxy Sword materializing in his grasp once more.
"..."
The sight of the blade made ’Davina’ narrow her eyes.
Jamie had refrained from using it before, unwilling to damage the body he was fighting, but now that he was certain he could isolate his attacks to only harm the intruder within, he had no reason to hold back any longer.
’If that’s the case... then I have no other option. It’s bound to create problems later on, but I have to act now.’
With that thought, she parted her lips and muttered three words.
Moon Empress Authority
Her body erupted with a surge of light and gravity law energy, the force cratering the already devastated landscape as she slowly ascended into the air, radiating waves of power that distorted space.
Above, the sky darkened, the transition from day to night happening in an instant as an eerie glow bathed the land.
The moons of Anadus Prime seemed to multiply in number, their luminous forms dominating the sky, looming far closer than was safe for the planet.
Just then, a pained groan reached her ears, drawing her attention.
She turned her gaze towards his source, her eyes widened as she met the figures of the teenage vampires she had attacked earlier beginning to regain consciousness.
At some point, Jamie had driven her back to the place where their battle had begun.
Wanete was the first to stir, forcing herself to her knees and trying to stand, however, when ’Davina’ unleashed another wave of energy, the force pushed her down onto her knees, sending a jolt of pain through her already wounded body.
Her ruptured eardrum throbbed painfully, and she immediately snapped her gaze upward, anguish and confusion swirling in her eyes as she stared at the figure floating menacingly above her.
When she first regained consciousness, she had desperately hoped that everything she remembered before blacking out was just a nightmare, but the sight before her shattered that futile hope.
’...what the hell?! H-how?’
Through the haze of pain and fear, a desperate cry tore from Wanete’s lips.
"WHY?!"
A simple question, but one heavy with grief and disbelief. Her voice, though trembling, rang through the desolate landscape, a plea for an answer amidst the chaos.
"Davina, why?!"
...
’Davina’ didn’t respond to Wanete, ignoring the young vampire’s cries she didn’t hear them.
But the sound of Wanete’s voice jerked David back to consciousness, and as his bleary eyes focused, they widened in horror at the sight of his twin sister hovering in the air, radiating oppressive power.
He could feel the overwhelming energy pouring off her, and he could see the way her body broke down and regenerated, over and over, barely holding together under the strain.
At the sight, he instantly figured out what must be happening.
’Someone...someone else is controlling her body!’
He refused to believe that his sister had turned against them of her own volition. That had to be the answer that could make sense of this nightmare.
And if that was true, then that meant his real sister was still in there somewhere.
"Davina, come to your senses!"
Silence.
"...!"
’Davina’ finally spoke, demanding silence and the power in her voice enforced her will. David’s mouth shut itself of its own volition, his body refusing to respond to his own commands.
The boy choked on his own blood as the power of the law of sound contained in Davina’s voice permeated into him and destroyed his vocal cords...ensuring permanent silence from him.
Ignoring Wanete’s frantic attempts to reach and help David, ignoring the dozens of unconscious masked vampires scattered around them, ’Davina’ locked her gaze onto the man who posed the greatest threat to her.
"Well, well, well...."
Jamie’s voice was smooth, almost teasing, as he casually sheathed his sword and drove it into the ground. His gaze lifted to ’Davina,’ a wry smile playing on his lips.
So, you would continue to stand in my way?
The weight of a strong Authority filled her True Voice, the words more of a statement than a question. Jamie simply shrugged, tapping his fingers idly against the hilt of his sword as a quiet chuckle escaped him.
"That much is obvious."
It was the answer ’Davina’ had expected, and for a brief moment, a displeased expression crossed her face. But she quickly suppressed it, sighing softly before raising her right hand.
A pity.
Gravity law energy swirled around her fingers and immediately, the ground began trembling heavily. The earth cracked open and water surged out, however, this water was unable to quench the sea of azure flames continuously spreading from Jamie’s body and consuming almost everything in sight.
At the same time, the tides of the oceans swelled to monstrous heights, crashing against the shores with devastating force. The planet’s rotation slowed, its once-consistent spin now disrupted, throwing the world into deeper chaos.
Seismic activity spiked as volcanoes erupted in violent succession, spewing thick clouds of ash that billowed into the skies.
Jamie’s gaze drifted upward, locking onto the true source of the impending catastrophe. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
The massive celestial body descending towards the atmosphere at supersonic speed.
My Apologies, Sir Jamie.
’Davina’ voiced out a sudden apology, a wistful expression adorning her face, though the coldness in her eyes remained unchanged as she continued.
But since you chose to continue to stand in my way, I need to have you exit the stage...permanently.
She clenched her fist, and the gravitational force intensified, bending to her unspoken will.
Above them, the massive moon trembled violently before its surface fractured, brilliant light seeping through the widening cracks. Under the overwhelming power of her Authority, the celestial body was ripped apart, shattered into colossal fragments—each one twice the size of an average planet.
With devastating speed, the massive chunks plummeted toward the ground—toward Jamie.
Watching the destruction hurtling his way, Jamie’s lips curled into a resigned smile as he spoke.
"Well, I’ll be damned."
