Chapter 220: Azure Flame Authority

Irenot staggered back, clutching his chest, but Jamie didn’t give him a chance to recover, following up with a spinning elbow to the side of Irenot’s head.

The blow landed clean, and more cracks spread across the Beast Lord’s form. In response, Irenot growled, his eyes burning with fury.

The orbs behind him shifted, positioning themselves to form a defensive barrier which stopped Jamie’s spatial energy-coated fists.

Irenot ducked and punched at Jamie, but despite there not appearing to be less than a metre of distance between them, his punch never met its mark despite how far his fist travelled.

’what?’

Jamie parried his punch and threw one to his face, but the Beast Lord ducked and threw a low kick to counter. Again, the same thing happened and his fist never connected despite him feeling it move through space.

"Did you know?"

Suddenly, Jamie started speaking, but Irenot ignored his words and attacked more times, using beams which all seemed to never reach Jamie despite appearing no less than a few centimetres away from his skin.

"Attacks need to move through space to get to their target, from where they are fired.

If I simply expand the space they need to move through, I can make it so they never re-!"

SILENCE!

Irenot suddenly exploded with power and punched Jamie, aiming towards the Hybrid’s mouth. The law energy around his fists tore through Jamie’s spatial expansion but Jamie raised his hands and caught this fist in a tight grip.

Seeing the look in Irenot’s eyes, Jamie raised a brow.

"Oh...you’re a sharp one."

Jamie realised that Irenot knew what he was doing when he suddenly started talking, hence why the Beast Lord had aimed for his mouth.

You wouldn’t be the first Cursed Sorcerer to use that technique. And you wouldn’t be the last one who’d still die even after using it!

Irenot wrestled his hand from Jamie’s grasp and launched more beams of energy, however, Jamie used cosmic energy to block the strikes, before dashing towards Irenot and throwing his palm forward.

The Beast Lord dodged, but Jamie didn’t mind. He wasn’t aiming for Irenot anyway.

!? You...!

"Too late."

Jamie’s open palm grabbed one of the orbs he had cracked earlier, and gravity law energy surged through his arm, concentrating around the orb and crushing it to pieces.

’So, it was not just an energy construct. These ’orbs’ are Magic Catalysts...they’re his weapons.’

Such thoughts crossed Jamie’s mind as he inspected the broken fragments of the orb in his hands, all whilst teleporting across the moon to avoid Irenot’s punches.

Suddenly, his eyes flashed and instead of teleporting away, he used spatial mimicry to let the punch phase through him, before throwing his fist forward and striking Irenot square in the chest.

Flames and lightning burned on his fist and the two energies mixed and flashed back with a double explosive impact.

The force of the blow sent shockwaves through space and Irenot’s body jerked violently, the cracks along his form erupting in a burst of green flames.

Jamie’s fist came in right after, but Irenot jumped back, not willing to let such a strike get him again. Unfortunately, they were in space—Jamie’s natural habitat—so despite jumping, Jamie simply warped him back to his initial position and delivered a strike to his face.

Irenot crossed his arms in front of his face to block, and the power behind Jamie’s punch sent blood splattering through the air on collision, lurching his body through space and sending him crashing through about a dozen lunar mountains.

After unleashing such an attack, Jamie cracked his fingers and teleported to Irenot’s position, but on his emergence, the entire moon quaked as a torrent of green flames shot upwards.

’Ah...I inadvertently gave him the distance he was after.’

The heat distorted the space around them and Irenot conjured spirals of fire that danced and twisted like serpents before merging into a massive inferno that exploded towards Jamie.

The flames roared, their intensity warping the very fabric of space as they consumed everything in their path, like a furious beast set to devour the moon.

Each wave of green fire was more potent than the last, a technique the Space Beast Lord had created to mimic the heat of stars and reduce entire worlds to ashes.

He brought down streams of fire like meteors, each one detonating with a force that could sink entire continents.

’...Yeah, I can’t let any single one of those touch me.’

Jamie did not currently have the durability to withstand planet-destroying attacks as of now. He wouldn’t die, but he’d be wounded and would need close to a minute to regenerate.

The Hybrid weighed his options, only one seemed like it’d serve to do the trick, whilst still leaving him with enough energy leftover to continue the fight.

As the emerald flames surged toward him, he silently brought his palms together, the sound of the clap echoing like thunder.

Azure Flame Authority.

Hearing his true voice, Lapis, who was silently spectating had her eyes widen in shock. Jamie was using an Ultimate Skill against a mere Race Lord? She couldn’t understand why.

’Is it related to what he wanted to test?’

While she thought that, the cosmic energy around Jamie surged, converging on his body as if answering his call.

Jamie’s blue eyes lit up with a brilliant glow, and with a quiet surge of power, azure flames erupted from his hands, spiralling upward.

They burned hotter and brighter than anything Irenot had conjured, stunning the Beast Lord who instinctively saw their true nature.

These flames weren’t just fire; they were destruction made manifest, a higher authority over flame itself.

Comprehending a law to a certain level granted one an Authority over the law, but in certain situations, there were those who possessed special Authorities termed as ’Unique and Esoteric’.

These Authorities were a few levels higher than normal ones, and their decrees were inviolable by all without similar Authorities.

But more commonly, they were known as Ultimate Skills.

Irenot’s green inferno met Jamie’s azure blaze, and for a moment, it seemed the two would clash in a stalemate.

But then, Jamie increased the Cosmic energy infusion and his flames roared to life, expanding outward and devouring Irenot’s fire in mere moments. The green flames were consumed whole; as if they were nothing more than fuel for Jamie’s azure flame.

In the face of Jamie’s Authority, Irenot’s once-imposing fire now seemed like an offering to a far greater power.

With a casual wave of his hand, Jamie directed the azure flames into the ground beneath Irenot. In an instant, pillars of flame erupted from the lunar surface, blue fire bursting forth from the cracks.

Each pillar smashed into Irenot’s body with the force of a meteor strike, lifting him off the ground and sending him hurtling high into the air, his massive frame flung like a rag doll amidst the explosion of azure flame.

Before Irenot could recover, Jamie raised both hands, creating two Void Spheres—dark orbs crackling with the energy nothingness, swirling with a powerful gravitational pull.

He clapped his hands together, and the spheres shot toward Irenot, one from each side, pulling on the fabric of space between them and attempting to crush the Beast Lord.

Irenot’s body was wracked with pain as he felt the existential threat, but he roared in defiance. The remaining four orbs floating around him spun faster, each releasing bursts of law energy that created a shimmering barrier around him.

As the Void Spheres bore down on him, their crushing force threatening to rip him apart from all sides, Irenot strained, sweat dripping from his green, flame-clad body and he poured every ounce of his power into resisting the spheres.

GRRRRAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

His roar shook the moon, his energy flaring wildly as he activated all his authorities and with one final surge of power, managed to push the spheres away, flinging them into the vacuum of space.

The spheres deleted the existences of close to 100 Half Deity Space Beasts in their path and would have ended the lives of the Vampires fighting them if Lapis hadn’t intervened to protect her soldiers.

Irenot’s body was cracked all over and his flames flickered, but he had succeeded in staving off the threat. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

However, despite this display of raw power, Jamie merely clapped slowly, an amused smile playing on his lips.

"That was a good one. Even if those were only my basic Void Spheres, you did well in blocking them."

Irenot’s eyes blazed with fury, his body shaking with rage.

Are you mocking me?!

"Mocking you? I’m honestly praising you here.

Why do people always feel like I’m mocking them when I’m being honest?"

Jamie spoke while shaking his head, but despite his words, Irenot thought otherwise. The Beast Lord’s patience snapped and with a guttural roar, he charged at Jamie, his fists igniting with green fire once more.

Just as Irenot was about to reach Jamie, he unleashed a torrent of roaring green fire, a wave so intense that the heat seemed to warp space around it.

Jamie conjured a barrier, but the flames backed by an Authority burned his spatial barrier and crashed into him with a force that sent tremors through the ground beneath his feet.

The sheer pressure of it sent him skidding back across the lunar surface, his shoes carving deep grooves into the ground.

However, Jamie’s Azure Flame Authority was still active, so he was shielded from the worst of the flame damage. The damage he did take regenerated faster than anyone could even see, so it appeared as if he took no damage.

Floating up into the air, Irenot slammed his palms together. A spatial rift opened almost instantly, cracks of distorted space forming above them.

With a sharp tear, the rift expanded, and out poured several lesser space beasts. They were weak compared to Irenot and Jamie, their levels peaking in the Sovereign and Transcendent range, but their numbers swelled with every passing moment.

"Those aren’t gonna help, though?"

Jamie watched calmly as the swarm descended upon him, a flicker of confusion crossing his face.

The first of the space beasts—a hulking, quadrupedal creature with crystalline tusks—charged forward but Jamie sidestepped its rush and brought his fist crashing down onto its skull.

**BOOMM!!!

Jamie’s fist wrapped in azure flame and lightning shattered the beast’s head and obliterated the rest of its body as the flames and lightning tore through it, leaving nothing but faint traces of ash.

Another beast, this one serpent-like with hundreds of snapping jaws, lunged from Jamie’s right and the Hybrid spun on his heel, driving his foot directly into its side.

Flames and lightning erupted with the kick, tearing through the creature’s body in a spectacular explosion of energy.

A giant beetle-shaped beast tried to leap at him, but Jamie drove his knee into its thorax. The impact sent shockwaves through the air, and the beast’s body exploded from within, torn apart by the mixture of cosmic energy, flames, and lightning.
