Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 219: Desperate Transformation
The Space Beast Lord had the form of a massive, terrifying wolf, its body covered in a thick, dark pelt that shimmered with unnatural energy. Its eyes glowed with a feral green light, and its maw dripped with a venomous liquid.
Its sheer size dwarfed most of the other space beasts—its form easily rivalling one of Gnocyl Prime’s smaller moons.
Yet despite its beastly appearance, there was an eerie intelligence in its gaze.
"How ironic."
Jamie’s lip curled into a grin and he laughed. This beast’s wolf-like form seemed like a twisted reflection of his own.
GRRRR!!!
The Space Beast Lord growled, its rumbling voice vibrating through the airless void, and then it lunged at Jamie with a roar of rage.
Its mouth opened wide, and it unleashed a torrent of green flames, a hellish blaze that surged toward Jamie like a living inferno.
Without flinching, Jamie swung his hand down, invoking his Basic Attack Sequence #2: Slice.
A sharp, invisible slash tore through the vacuum, slicing the breath of flames in two and colliding with the beast, forcing it back to the ground. The green fire dissipated instantly, unable to touch him and the beast that launched it staggered back, stunned.
Jamie glanced at the creature’s status, quickly appraising it.
’Deity Level 125.’
His grin grew wider and he muttered to himself as he felt the excitement build up within him.
"Perfect EXP bag."
Those words barely left his mouth as he dashed forward, cutting through the vacuum like a comet. His energy surged and the Space Beast Lord roared and swung its forelimbs, its crystalline claws tearing through space as they moved to swat Jamie away.
But Jamie disappeared from their trajectory and appeared beside it, spinning around to deliver a powerful kick that lurched its body off the ground.
The impact of his kick sent a shockwave rippling across the beast’s dark, fur-covered body, cracking the crystalline structure beneath its thick pelt.
?!
The Space Beast Lord recoiled, its eyes widening in shock. Jamie’s attack had struck true, bypassing its powerful durability. He knew how to deal with these creatures, and this beast would be no exception.
Space beasts, after absorbing enormous amounts of energy, experienced exponential increases in durability, making them a hassle to kill.
But there were always ways to exploit weaknesses.
One method was using weapons forged from the remains of other space beasts, which could tear through the protective layers with ease.
Only Diamonds could cut other Diamonds—that logic was applied here.
This way, one could fight normally, without having to bother with attacking with so much energy to overload the space beast’s absorption capabilities.
Another way of getting past their durability was to hit them with energy attuned to their natural frequency and this enabled the blows of the person fighting them to completely ignore their enhanced durability and damage them like any other creature on their level.
But Jamie preferred the third and most efficient method; most efficient for him, at least.
Attacking the space beast with a superior energy type. Either the energy was superior in quality by a large margin, or it was a higher form of energy entirely.
A higher form of energy...like Cosmic energy.
Unless the Space Beast had Cosmic Superiority, it could not absorb Cosmic energy. Its enhanced durability was useless in the face of a Cosmic energy attack.
The beast’s roars intensified as it staggered back, shaking the moon’s surface beneath its feet, but Jamie didn’t give it time to understand what was happening.
He took advantage of his smaller size and teleportation to slip into its blind spots and hit it all over.
His legs and fists coated in cosmic energy became weapons that crashed into the beast’s massive form. His strikes were infused with spatial and destruction law energy, allowing him to shave chunks of its vitality with each hit.
Jamie’s fists cracked through its armour-like body with ease and his blows landed in rapid succession, like a hurricane of destruction.
Despite being the one with the higher level, the beast had no opportunity to display that power.
Jamie attacked its joints and pressure points—confusing the beast as to why Jamie knew the pressure points of a wolf-shaped creature when he was humanoid—and due to Jamie’s destruction law energy, its healing factors were negated.
Realizing its enormous body was nothing but a liability, the Space Beast Lord made a desperate decision.
It let out a guttural roar, and suddenly, its massive wolf-like frame began to shrink, the thick fur and crystalline armour dissolving into a green blaze.
The beast’s body seemed to collapse inward, its mass coalescing into something far more contained—
—and far more dangerous.
Light surged around its figure as it shrank, and the once-gargantuan wolf was replaced by a humanoid silhouette, engulfed in flames. But these weren’t ordinary flames. They burned with an eerie, ghostly green, flickering like living shadows.
Jamie silently watched as the Space Beast Lord’s new form solidified—a tall, humanoid figure wrapped in swirling flames, its skin and features visible beneath the eerie fire.
The being’s flesh appeared as though it was carved from emerald glass, burning with faint green flames that danced across its entire body. Its face, too, was eerily human, with sharp, angular features that gave it a regal yet menacing appearance, the green flames licking along its jawline and eyes, creating a haunting glow.
The flames weren’t just decorative, though; they radiated a tangible heat, warping the space around it.
Despite the fiery appearance, the outline of its form was perfectly clear. Black rune markings glowed faintly along the edges of its body, and behind it, five orbs of green and black light floated with law energy swirling like disks around them.
The flames flickered menacingly around its body as it spoke for the first time, its voice a deep, echoing rumble that reverberated through the void.
Did you think that I, Irenot, was the same as those inferior creatures without proper sentience?
The flames around his mouth twisted with each word, and he pointed at Jamie, his energy surging as he declared.
You will burn in my fire.
However, Jamie only laughed, the sound cutting through the vacuum with a mocking edge.
"Haha, I was hoping you’d say something like that."
With an air of nonchalance, Jamie dashed towards the Beast Lord who narrowed his eyes and rushed forward to meet Jamie’s charge.
Jamie launched a jab at Irenot’s jaw, but the Beast Lord responded with a speed as fast as his arm shot up to block the strike.
The force of the impact rippled through the ground beneath them, kicking up lunar dust.
Jamie flowed into a low kick aimed at sweeping Irenot’s legs, but the Beast Lord leapt into the air, his body twisting unnaturally mid-flight. As he came down, his foot lashed out in a downward axe kick aimed at Jamie’s head.
The Hybrid stepped to the side, narrowly avoiding the strike as Irenot’s foot smashed into the moon’s surface, sending debris flying in every direction.
He then retaliated with a spinning back fist that whistled through the air, but Irenot ducked under it, countering with a rapid series of punches aimed at Jamie’s torso.
Jamie blocked, his arms moving in a blur as he deflected each blow, but the sheer power behind them forced him to take a step back.
You’re quick, but let’s see how you handle this.
The orbs floating behind Irenot hummed with energy, and in a split second, they shot forward, firing beams of green and black law energy straight at Jamie.
*SNAP!
Without hesitation, Jamie snapped his fingers, creating a small wormhole in front of him. The beams disappeared into the wormhole, only to reappear far off in the distance, vanishing harmlessly into the vacuum of space.
"Let’s make this more interesting."
Jamie smirked, then formed his hand into a finger gun.
Bang!
He said it playfully, but the destructive energy that shot out of his fingertips did not have a playful result. Each round of bullets was a swirling mass of cosmic and destruction law energy aimed at Irenot’s chest and the Beast Lord instinctively felt the danger behind them.
Irenot brought up two of the floating orbs to block, and the bullets Jamie fired collided with them in bursts of blinding light.
The two orbs cracked and Irenot’s eyes widened in shock, but Jamie closed the distance in that moment, not giving him time to properly assess the damage.
Despite being lower level, Jamie met Irenot’s attacks with a counter, never giving the Beast Lord the distance needed to unleash any other weapon it had and forcing him into a hand-to-hand battle.
Jamie switched between various martial arts, making predicting his movements a chore that Irenot soon gave up on.
He slipped into Irenot’s guard with a lightning-fast uppercut, but Irenot shifted his weight, absorbing the blow and swinging an elbow towards Jamie’s temple. Jamie ducked, his body twisting as he landed a sidekick to Irenot’s ribs, the impact vibrating through the Beast Lord’s frame.
Despite this, Irenot didn’t flinch and spun his body around, using his momentum to bring a knee up into Jamie’s gut. Jamie blocked with his forearm, the force pushing him back a few feet.
Irenot pressed the attack, his orbs glowing ominously as they shot more beams of energy, this time in rapid succession. Jamie’s fingers flickered again, and with each snap, wormholes opened up, swallowing the beams and warping them away into the void.
Jamie slid under Irenot’s next punch and delivered a powerful roundhouse kick that cracked the Beast Lord’s jaw.
But Irenot retaliated, catching Jamie’s leg with one hand and twisting his body, aiming to throw him off balance. Jamie spun with the momentum, his other leg coming around to kick Irenot’s head, forcing the Beast Lord to release his grip and retreat a few steps.
Irenot frowned, wiping a trace of green blood from his lip and then growled at Jamie. His lips parted and a beam of green light surged forth, covering Jamie’s vision with its radiance.
However, Jamie ignored the incoming attack and turned around, throwing his fist out to meet Irenot who circled him and unleashed a barrage of punches and kicks.
As for the attack behind him, Jamie simply created a giant wormhole that dissolved it into nothingness while he matched Irenot, blow for blow.
At every opportunity, Irenot’s orbs fired their beams, trying to overwhelm Jamie, but each time, Jamie either sliced through them with a blade of spatial energy or redirected them with a wormhole.
Jamie suddenly ducked low, feinting a punch before pivoting into a sweeping kick aimed at Irenot’s knee. Irenot jumped, his body twisting mid-air as he brought his fists down in a hammer strike, but Jamie dodged, stepping inside Irenot’s range and driving his elbow into the Beast Lord’s sternum with cosmic energy.
The impact cracked Irenot’s skin, sending fissures of light through his green, flame-covered body.
