Chapter 208: Rule Breaker Number Four

Jamie just laughed at Lapis’ words, the sound light and carefree. He rested the Galaxy Sword on his shoulder, and the mist the blade emitted grew stronger.

"All’s fair in a fight,"

His grin didn’t fade in the slightest and Lapis narrowed her eyes at Jamie’s words. She then exhaled, the barest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

"All’s fair, huh?"

She repeated, her tone thoughtful this time.

Her grip on the alchemy-crafted sword she was wielding loosened, and she let go of the blade, allowing it to fall to the ground with a dull thud.

Jamie raised a brow, curious about her next move, but his eyes quickly widened in surprise when he noticed the moonlight coalescing in her outstretched palm.

The light gathered, growing denser until it formed into a glowing orb, bright and almost blinding. Lapis closed her hand around the moonlit ball, and with a sharp crack, it shattered into pieces, scattering shards of light that briefly filled the air with a radiant glow.

From the brilliant burst, a white sword emerged, sleek and radiant, its edges shimmering like moonlight reflected on a still lake.

Blade of the Moonlight Maiden.

Lapis spoke softly, and the sword responded to her words, glowing brighter, humming with energy. She lifted the blade, the light swirling around it like a living entity and pointed it at Jamie.

"Let’s see if this is fair."

By the time the sound of her words reached Jamie, she had already reached his position and unleashed five slashes of white light.

Her blade cut through the air in a powerful horizontal slash and Jamie sidestepped smoothly, bringing his Galaxy Sword up to deflect her strike.

Though he wanted to push back, Jamie found himself having to step to the side as Lapis moved with surprising agility, following up with a quick diagonal slash aimed at his shoulder.

Jamie angled his blade and parried her attack, redirecting the force but by then, Lapis was already spinning on her heel and bringing her glowing sword down in a vertical arc.

He raised his sword to block, the force of her strike sending a ripple through the ground beneath them. Their eyes met briefly, and Jamie could feel the rising intensity behind her attacks.

Lapis’ movements grew faster and more aggressive, with her infusing more moonlight into her blade. The glow on the sword expanded as her strikes gained more weight behind them, pushing Jamie back and making his feet dig into the earth with each deflection.

She continued mounting the pressure, eventually forcing Jamie back with a particularly strong slash.

Jamie’s boots slid against the ground, and he exhaled slowly, his focus sharp. She was pushing him, and there was no denying the strength behind her strikes.

As Lapis prepared for another strike, Jamie glanced at his Galaxy Sword, watching as the intricate patterns on the blade swirled, galaxies shimmering against the black steel.

His eyes narrowed, and then he nodded, almost to himself.

"I see.

He muttered under his breath, and lifted his sword slightly, feeling the stirring consciousness within it.

"This might be enough."

With this, Jamie took a step back and let Lapis’ next strike pass harmlessly by. In that brief moment, Jamie stopped limiting the power of laws from entering his tongue and parted his lips to speak with his true voice.

Beyond the edge of space...

’I knew he was up to something!’

Lapis wasted no time as she thought this, closing the distance between them and unleashing a flurry of strikes aimed at his sides but Jamie stepped back, pivoting on his heel as his sword met hers in a sharp clang, effortlessly redirecting the strike

Across the endless void,

Lapis didn’t falter. She spun low, sweeping her glowing sword in a horizontal arc meant to slice through Jamie’s midsection, but Jamie countered with a downward block, sending a cascade of sparks into the air.

Jamie twisted his wrist and deflected her strike, then thrust his sword forward, forcing her to retreat momentarily, but she lunged forward right after, bringing her sword for an overhead strike. Jamie raised his sword just in time to meet her blade, catching her mid-air with an impact that sent a shockwave through the ground.

Where stars collapse and worlds are torn,

Lapis unleashed a barrage of rapid strikes, each one faster and more precise than the last. Her sword shimmered as it sliced through the air in a flurry of slashes aimed at Jamie’s chest, legs, and neck. But Jamie parried each blow with his galaxy sword, weaving through her onslaught with ease and countered her final attack with a quick slash that nearly grazed her arm, forcing her to leap back with a grunt of frustration.

I call upon the severer of all dimensions.

The swirling galaxies and nebulae on Jamie’s blade glowed brighter, the mist the blade released swirling more intensely at the hilt.

With a commanding tone, Jamie called out the real name of his weapon.

Rule Breaker Number Four, Cosmic Blade of Dimensional Severance... Galaxy Sword.

The Sword responded to his call, and the mist thickened, swirling around the blade like an accretion disk around a newborn nebula.

The galaxies on its surface seemed to expand, the stars within them growing brighter, with the fabric of space around them seeming to ripple in response.

Finally, with a single word, Jamie unleashed the full power of the blade.

Awaken.

A shockwave of energy burst from the sword, bending the space around them. The ground cracked beneath Jamie’s feet as the cosmic energy enveloping the Galaxy Sword sharpened, shimmering with untold destructive power.

Lapis felt existential dread and on instinct, she jumped back, not even realising her actions until her feet touched the ground.

The Galaxy Sword was no joke.

Lapis, being one of the Race Emperors of the Zanerth Universe understood exactly what kind of weapon Jamie wielded.

A Rule Breaker.

These weapons did exactly what they were called; they ’Broke the Rules’.

In the hands of a Singularity like Jamie whose mere existence bent the laws of existence, they were even more dangerous.

All Rule Breakers were weapons from a time called the Previous Era.

From the little Lapis knew, she understood that at one point in time, the Cosmos was destroyed and ’all of existence’ ceased to exist.

There was no time and space, and within that nonexistence, all of existence was reborn. That marked the beginning of the Current Era.

Rule Breakers were weapons that survived the nonexistence between the two Eras, and in the Cosmos, only 999 of them existed.

The weapons were ranked; with ’Triple-Digit’ Rule Breakers being at the bottom, ’Double-Digit’ Rule Breakers being in the middle, and at the top, were the ’Single-Digit’ Rule Breakers.

Jamie’s Sword was the Rule Breaker with the Serial Number ’4’. One of the famed ’Single-Digits’!

Even if the man had lost his power, the sword did not lose any of its power. Jamie’s current realm limited how much of its power he could bring out, but it wasn’t an exaggeration to say that merely wielding that sword made Jamie three times stronger...in his base state.

When he started activating his Skills and Authorities...it was a different case entirely.

The Sword was a ’Cosmic Blade’ and using it required Cosmic Energy—something Jamie had recovered after becoming a Half-Deity 9 months ago.

He only had his ’Sub-Cosmic’ authority now, but when he became a Low-Tier Deity, he would recover his full Cosmic Authority as that was the minimum threshold for one to be a Cosmic Being.

Back to the spar between Jamie and Lapis, the woman took a deep breath and closed her eyes briefly. When they reopened, they glowed crimson and she silently infused the power of her authority into her blade—her Ultimate Skill.

Moon Empress’ Authority.

The light of the moon intensified around her weapon, swirling around it in a way that made it seem like a part of the night sky had descended to her hands.

Neither spoke further. There was no need for words. They both knew what was about to happen.

In a flash, they moved, bodies propelled at speeds far beyond sound. The world around them blurred as they closed the distance, leaving nothing but rippling waves of sonic booms in their wake.

The force of their departure shattered the ground beneath their feet, cracks spreading deep into the earth, racing down through the tectonic plates, sending shockwaves that began to split the very continent they stood on.

Both of them were like living comets, streaking across the distance with their blades raised, the sheer energy of their impeding strikes warping the air around them.

But just as their swords were about to meet in a cataclysmic clash, something descended from the skies, faster than either of them could anticipate.

**KAABOOOMMM!!!!

A shockwave exploded outwards as a figure landed directly between them, catching both their swords in his bare hands.

When the dust settled, the figure of an aged man stood between Jamie and Lapis, his weathered face marred with deep concentration.

His greying hair was tousled, and sweat beaded on his brow, a trickle of blood running from his left eye. He was holding Lapis’ moonlight blade with his right hand and Jamie’s Galaxy Sword with his left.

But how could he dare to hold a Rule Breaker with his bare hand? What’s more, it was one that wouldn’t let even Miranda who was practically Jamie’s other half so much as graze its hilt.

The man’s left arm trembled, and cracks ran through it, as though it was about to disintegrate into nothingness at any moment.

Still, the man gritted his teeth to bear the pain to his soul and spoke, his voice filled with strain.

"Lady Lapis... please, that’s enough. Any more would be dangerous... for you."
