Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 126: Dance of Flames and Frost
"Now then, Mira. Shall we?"
Jamie removed his tie from his neck and wrapped it around his right palm as he asked, and Miranda mirrored his actions before replying.
"We shall."
Instantly, the two of them kicked off the ground and dashed toward Sanev who quickly tightened his grip on his blade and swung them down, unleashing massive waves of fire and ice at Jamie and Miranda respectively.
The two hybrids glanced at each other before suddenly kicking off on compressed aura footholds and switching sides.
Now Jamie was in front of the Ice and Miranda was in front of the flames.
Both pulled their hands backwards, swirling both azure flames and purple water swirled around their fists which they threw forward to clash with the incoming attacks.
**BOOMMM!!!
Steam and magic power exploded outward with unimaginable force, blasting apart the entire section of the mansion and sending debris flying in all directions.
Windows shattered, walls crumbled, and the very foundation of the mansion trembled under the explosive release of energy.
Sanev jumped out of the cloud of dust and smoke, landing on the floor a few dozen metres away as he looked at the rubble and remnants of that section of the grand mansion all around him.
’The man’s flames are Esoteric flames...too dangerous. I’d have to counter with flame law energy.
As for the woman...’
Sanev had seen various types of water abilities in his centuries of lifespan, but he had never seen ’Purple’ coloured water before!
The man quickly remembered what Jamie had been saying at the beginning and after thinking about it for a second, he guessed that both of them were Race Kings who incarnated with avatars.
’They probably have a conflict with Their Lordships and Her Excellency! I have to be careful with th-?!’
His thoughts didn’t even finish when Jamie suddenly appeared beside him with his right fist pulled back.
On pure reflex, Sanev swung down his ice sword, infusing as much law energy and magic power as he could in an instant, causing the sword to generate more divinity from its blade.
The sheer concentration of ice law energy was greater than the concentration of spatial law power that was in the area, thus, preventing Jamie’s spatial expansion from working.
Jamie’s pupils darted upwards and he brought his left hand forward, forming it into a knife-hand condensing spatial law power around it. He added a little bit of fortification law energy to strengthen it before moving the hand forward to meet the incoming blade.
Sanev’s sword met Jamie’s hand in the next millisecond, and the elf’s eyes widened in shock as he saw Jamie use his left hand to parry the Sword of ice.
"?!"
The spatial law power around Jamie’s right fist had already begun distorting the space, so Jamie just added some little gravity law energy to the mix before throwing out a full-powered punch.
With all his strength and speed, Jamie punched Sanev in the torso five times in one second.
**BA-BA-BAA-BA-BAAAAAMMMMM!!!!
The shockwaves from the punches hit a second later and Sanev’s body was yeeted into the air due to the sheer power behind the strikes.
Mid-air, Miranda flashed in right under the elf’s body and grabbed his leg, and the whiplash from the sudden stop doubled the force with which his upper body was flung backwards.
Jamie teleported right behind him and kicked the back of his head, sending his body forward while Miranda took advantage of that momentum and flung his body back down onto the ground.
He crashed down onto the ground with so much force that his body bounced back up, and as it did, Miranda was waiting with her right hand encased in aura, delivering an uppercut that sent Sanev up into the sky faster than a rocket.
Looking at the airborne elf, Jamie held out his hand and used his basic attack sequence.
"#1’
**SWISHH!!
Faster than the disoriented Sanev could react, a blade of spatial energy slashed him in the chest and split apart the layers of law energy he had surrounded his body with.
"#2"
The second sequence’s scissors-like slashes of spatial power sliced the elf’s arms and drew blood, but did not deal enough damage to slice them off.
"#3"
Despite being the strongest attack in Jamie’s Basic Attack sequence, it was ’slow’, when compared to the other two.
While the other two used simple slashes of spatial magic power, #3 needed to gather a mass of spatial power to carve out space.
It happened in seconds, but it was still slow enough for the elf whose brain had been shocked back into action by the pain from #1 and #2 to react.
He spun his body around, infusing magic power into the swords and sliced down in the direction of the incoming mass of spatial power, splitting the mass of energy in two and cancelling the attack.
Miranda blitzed in behind him and Sanev reacted even faster, loading the flaming sword with fire law energy, causing it to light up with a fire blaze before swinging it in her direction.
The collision between Miranda’s fist and the divine sword sparked a dazzling display of golden flames, illuminating the space around them with an otherworldly glow. The sheer force of their clash caused ripples in the fabric of space itself, resulting in faint cracks appearing in the air.
Both parties were knocked back by the shockwaves, with Sanev crashing to the ground down on one knee. He looked up at Miranda’s bleeding arm and grinned internally as he thought.
’As expected, she’s a vampire like the other one. The divinity would make it hard for her to hea-!?’
The man’s jaw dropped as he saw the blood that had spilt on the floor float back into Miranda’s hand and renter her body. The wound then closed up and her skin returned to its natural unblemished state.
"What th-!"
’Wait...where’s the other one?!’
"Over here."
Jamie replied to the question he hadn’t voiced out and he infused his magic power into the sword of frost, spinning around and swinging the sword with all his might.
A powerful and vast freezing air surged out from the blade and swept Jamie’s body up. Under this extreme cold law power, Jamie instantly froze and turned into a huge ice sculpture.
But Sanev didn’t have time to rest as Miranda was already right behind him.
The elf infused more law energy into the blade and continued with the momentum, intending to freeze Miranda as well when two spatial blades suddenly sliced his arm and disrupted his slash trajectory to the sky.
Blood splattered into his left eye and before he could even finish the reflexive action of closing it, Miranda’s punch had already collided with his torso.
**BOOM!!
Sanev’s body slammed right into the giant Ice sculpture behind him, with enough force that he shattered the ice and collided with Jamie’s body.
Jamie swiftly wrapped his arms around Sanev’s waist, securing a firm grip, before smoothly lifting him off his feet. With a deft motion, Jamie twisted his body, leveraging his momentum to bring Sanev crashing down onto the ground in a powerful suplex manoeuvre.
The Hybrid quickly let go of the elf before seizing his leg and flinging the elf over his shoulder. He used gravity law energy to double Sanev’s body weight as he slammed the elf down on the ground in front of him.
"I actually admire this guy, not losing hold of his weapon even in such a situation."
Just as Jamie said that, the Elf’s ice sword began glowing but Miranda flashed in and kicked the back of his elbow, shattering the bones in the joint. She then grabbed him by the wounded arm and forced the blade out of his hand before yeeting him into the broken half of the mansion behind them.
"Oh my. This thing is an ego weapon."
Miranda remarked as she looked at the icy sword whose power was corroding and freezing her hand. What’s more, it seemed to be struggling to escape her grip and fly back to Sanev so Jamie just suggested she let it go and she did.
Immediately, the sword flew back to where its master was while Miranda looked at her palms and raised a brow.
"It’s silver..."
She flicked her fingers and shattered the ice around her hand while watching the divinity and silver burns heal up completely.
"...how?"
The question had Jamie and Miranda turn their gazes towards the elf who was breathing heavily as he got to his feet. They noticed some magic potion bottles on the floor next to him and seeing as the man’s right elbow was working fine again, they guessed he used one to heal his wounds quickly.
"...how can you hold silver when you are vampires?!"
Sanev was under the assumption that they were Vampires, so he was confused when he saw Miranda hold his sword without the slightest change in her expression.
In fact, she hadn’t even noticed the blade was silver until she had let go of it and saw the small wound.
"Silver doesn’t really do much to me, though? Besides the purity of that thing is quite low."
"Indeed. This one is 100% silver."
Jamie casually pulled out the silver spear that the dragon Ikerth had sent to take out Wanete’s group had used. Miranda grabbed it and pierced her finger with the tip before nodding in affirmation.
The little wound healed up two seconds later and Sanev’s expression contorted when seeing this.
’These two are strange...
