Chapter 122: Balanced Polarities

Life and Death laws were on the opposing ends of the polarity spectrum.

Yet, it was possible for some select few talented manipulators to change the polarity of their life law energies to the negative side of the spectrum.

It was quite the feat as even some Race Kings who used the law of life could not do this.

Transforming Positive to Negative and Negative to Positive wasn’t something done so easily, after all.

But of course, Irregulars like Jamie could do such a thing like it wasn’t even a big deal. Like he was currently doing in the process of infusing the corpse with energy.

Jamie could use Life law energy with both polarities, not because he was bored and decided to learn how to do so, but out of necessity.

As stated earlier, ’Balance’ was something very important for Jamie.

He did not have the title; ’Envoy of Balance’ for fancy.

The man had learned how to manipulate Positive Death Energy, making it so he could use Death Energy on both ends of the spectrum.

But his life energy was still Positive, so he had to learn to how convert that Positive to Negative and it was easier said than done.

It was as if the Universe itself had been trying to prevent him from achieving this, but he had to do so because he wanted to maintain his ’balance’.

Jamie had been balancing things like this ever since he was still a teenager; learning the Law of Life to counteract the law of death, learning the law of water to counteract fire and so on.

Even within the laws, if he learned to control the other polarity of one law, then he learned to do the same for its opposing law.

It’s how he could use his water law energy to heal (positive), and use it to flood an entire planet (negative).

By maintaining this ’Balance’ all his life, Jamie eventually achieved the status of ’Envoy of Balance’, and with it, came his ’Imperial Privileges’ Authority.

As he had just done with his Second Privilege, Jamie’s skill allowed him to casually do things like using a Dimensional Slicing technique yet not damaging the planet’s fabric of space like the way he had done in Clurg.

Or his Third Privilege that returned the entirety of the Fusevale Bastille to the state it was before the battle as if he had turned back time.

"All, right. That should be enough."

Jamie tossed the corpse into the cauldron, before sealing it and putting the whole thing into his subspace.

"There’s a Giant I have to deal with, but I’d leave that guy for later."

"Are you sure it’s a good idea to toss it just like that?"

"Yep. I fine-tuned it so the Soul’s Metadata would be the basis for the appearance. It would not change too much."

The man got up and stretched his arms before turning to Miranda and asking.

"Where to next? The other Mermaid Kingdom?"

When he asked this, he could see Miranda’s eyes brightened up and she nodded repeatedly with a smile on her face.

Once again, Jamie felt the urge to remind her that they were going there for a fight and not to have fun or whatever she was thinking.

"Oh, I almost forgot."

Jamie’s gaze turned serious and he grabbed Miranda’s shoulders before questioning her in a no-joking manner.

"Have you reached the Sub-Cosmic peak?"

"?!"

When she heard his question, Miranda was surprised for a moment as she had honestly not thought that Jamie would notice this before she told him.

’Yet he figured it out with just a little bit of energy I put on his sword...’

Miranda always had her real Existence Realm concealed, so anyone who met her would not be able to figure out how strong she was, just that she was stronger than they were.

"Yes. I have."

Jamie’s face blossomed into a smile as he pulled her into a hug while congratulating her for reaching the peak of that existence realm.

"Now, you’re back to where you’re ’meant to be’. But this means that you can’t go any further because of the Superiority issues, right?"

"Yep."

Terrion had noted that Miranda’s ’Vessel’ was filled to the brim with power, and it seemed to want to overflow but could not.

He had accurately judged her situation, as Miranda had reached the limit of power for her Existence Realm, and had even exceeded that limit a lot.

But she could not go any higher because she had not fulfilled one last requirement.

"I need to settle down and go through my memories to see if I can find any realm where you’d go to which would help you to attain Full Superiority.

I don’t want any incident like that with the ’Destruction Aeon’ to happen again."

Miranda’s expression darkened when Jamie spoke of an event where even the most feared Complete Hybrids had all received grievous soul-based wounds that had taken very long to heal.

Heck, even Jamie was wounded seriously, though he healed much faster than the other five did.

"Don’t worry too much, Jamie. We have all the time in the Universe to figure it out.

I know for sure I would not be stuck as a Quasi-Supreme forever and eventually become a ’Supreme’ just like you did."

"Well, for starters. You’d need to deal with the Cosmic Superiority issue first, but I get what you mean."

The man finally decided to put the issue aside for now, and Miranda reminded him about their plan to go to the Mermaid Kingdom on another continent.

"It’s in the continent of Jopia."

"What’s with the names of these places."

Jamie couldn’t help but question the Zotovian’s naming senses, but he didn’t dwell too much on it and asked Miranda for coordinates.

When she gave them to him, the man infused spatial law energy into his fist and then punched the empty space in front of him, breaking open a spatial gate that connected the two points in space.

"Jay, you have no idea how much envy your ’Child of Space’ skill.

"Oh, you mean the fact that I can literally—"

With his other fist, he slammed the empty ’space’ beside him and created another spatial gate before continuing.

"—break open Spatial Gates."

Miranda went silent for a moment as she looked at Jamie who was bragging about how he did not need to spend time conjuring with space law energy to create spatial gates. For someone as skilled as her, it was only a few seconds but sometimes those few seconds could feel like an eternity.

Eventually, she chose one way to voice her annoyance.

"I hate you."

"Hate me? Since when was today ’Opposite day’?"

The female Hybrid’s brow twitched and she turned to grab Jamie by his collar, before flinging him into the spatial gate and entering right after him.

The two gates then disappeared like they were never there, and the broken space healed up very quickly.

In a second, no traces of the fact that some spatial activity had taken place could be seen or sensed in the area.

◇ ◇ ◇

Emerging from the other end of the Spatial Gate, Jamie found himself in a city with high-rise buildings, but after taking a look around, he noticed that these buildings were all made of wood.

"Mira, is this an—why do you look like that?"

Jamie’s question got cut off when he turned towards Miranda, noting that the woman’s features had changed from the ones he loved so much.

Her purple-silver hair had turned a light leaf-green and her eyes mirrored that colour as well. What’s more, her ears had grown far longer than normal—a feature that was signature to the Elven race.

"Hmm? The Mermaids here have Associations with the Elves.

They’ve formed Trade routes amongst themselves; Elves get the Mermaids Land-based stuff and the Mermaids get the Elves Sea goods."

Though Miranda’s explanation was certainly good to hear, it did nothing to answer his question about what exactly she was doing.

Realising that herself, Miranda then pointed at the large tree that was in the middle of the city and spoke.

"I have an alternate Identity as one of the Elven Elders on Zotov."

"Why am I just hearing of this?"

"Because I didn’t really consider it important."

The woman shrugged lightly as she explained how she had taken up an ’Elder’ position amongst the Elves a long time ago, and had someone who had been masquerading as a Zotovian fill in for her when she was away.

When Ikerth attacked the planet, she was one of the ’Elven Elders’ who ’defected’ to the side of the Non-Zotovian Elves.

Once again, this showed that she had long since had her eyes on planet Zotov, even before Ikerth had begun his business here.

Anyway, with her ’Elder’ identity which she retained even after defecting, she possessed loads of Authority on Jopia where the Alien Elves had chosen to settle.

"I have direct access to their World Tree and knowledge of where the Elven Transcendents and Sovereigns reside."

She then turned to Jamie and after waving her across his face, gave him a light transformation. His ears changed to that of an Elf’s and she nodded before continuing her words.

"Before we go to the Mermaids, we’re going to be killing Elven Sovereigns and Transcendents. Hope you haven’t lost your Assassination Skills."
