Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 118: Unspeakable Name
While Jamie and Miranda were having a nice dinner, their enemies from Zotov weren’t just sitting and twiddling their thumbs.
Now that Terrion had taken action, the Dragons decided that hiding the current status quo wasn’t wise anymore.
Though they would earn Ikerth’s ire by not being able to manage the situation themselves, it was far better than trying to handle it and failing—losing Zotov in the process.
As for why they considered Losing to be a possibility, it was mainly because of Jamie and Miranda.
There was also the fact that none of them, not even Tasir had the confidence to defeat Terrion.
New or not, Terrion was still a Race King while Tasir was only half a foot into that realm at best.
He would be able to hold his own or even win if he had others assisting him, but in that case, who’d deal with Jamie and Miranda?
Thinking about it, whether they fought in space, or on Zotov—which Tasir felt was more likely—it certainly wasn’t wise to leave Jamie and Miranda to their devices.
To Tasir, they were greater threats than Terrion and Dornik. Not just because of their past infamy, but because of the reports he received about what happened on Bliteon—Althalos and Lillie’s presence in Void City.
This meant that if Jamie and Miranda were not properly dealt with, they might summon more of their Argent Empire subordinates, and that would not be good.
After spending some time thinking, he made a decision and that decision was why these two dragons were currently flying through the void of space.
|Damn, His Excellency was pissed! |
|Of course, he was! It’s the ’AlphaHybrid’ who’s interfering. Have you forgotten what he did in the past? |
The Dragons’ scales gleamed with fiery intensity as they sored through the silent void and left trails of stardust in their wake, exchanging words with deep voices that resonated like distant thunder.
|I knew His Excellency would be angry, but it was even more so than ever. |
|Don’t forget that His Excellency went to the ’Dead Zone’ for a reason.
Because of this, he’d have to stop what he was doing and leave the ’Dead Zone’, meaning all the resources he had spent over the years to traverse to that point would have been wasted.
I’d certainly be angry if I was him. |
As the two dragons made their way back to the Laizuno Star system, they noticed a shortcut that they had missed earlier since they were in a hurry and didn’t bother to look at their star maps.
|We could pass here and get back to Zotov faster. Our Avatars would go dormant if we leave them empty for too long.|
After making that decision, the two dragons flapped their wings and changed their flight path, crossing through a Red Star System while they continued their conversation.
|Anyway, we’ve done our part and informed His Excellency.
As far as we play by the Rules of Zotov, His Excellency Ikerth would certainly be able to defeat ’That Westley’. |
In the Universe, certain beings possessed something called ’Unspeakable Names’.
Due to the nature of their powers, their Existence Realms and the Law Authorities they held, it was possible for these beings to make it such that they would instantly be aware of anyone who spoke their name within a certain radius of them.
This radius usually spanned thousands to tens of thousands of light years.
If they were a famous person on the Interstellar Stage with loads of Universal Influence, then there was a much higher chance of people talking about them almost every day.
This may seem like a lot of information to process, but the beings who had these ’Unspeakable Names’ usually possessed brains that could compute such loads of information easily.
While these two dragons were moving through space, one of them had spoken a line which contained two names.
Ikerth and Westley.
While Ikerth could definitely activate this ’Unspeakable Name’ effect, the two dragons had just spoken to the man from the entrance of the place they called the ’Dead Zone’, and the distance was far out of the range Ikerth could cover.
The second name he called was Westley, but Westley was a ’Surname’ belonging to a Werewolf Clan.
In the event where there are multiple beings with the same Surname and have this ’Unspeakable Name’ Effect, an action of just calling out the Surname would alert every nearby being possessing that Surname and the Unspeakable Name effect.
If the dragon had said Jamie’s full name, everything would have been fine.
But the dragon had said just ’Westley’. What’s more, he had used the name ’Ikerth’ in the same line.
That was where the problem lay.
|?!!|
The surrounding space around them suddenly constricted, as if the universe itself had suddenly grabbed the dragons’ bodies with its cosmic hands
This unseen pressure warped the void, creating a moment of tension that made even these powerful dragons feel chills running down their spines.
|Who dar—?!|
The dragon’s resounding voice abruptly ceased as two colossal eyes materialized in the void before them, crafted from potent strands of law energy.
These gigantic eyes that dwarfed the red star nearby while, pulsating with unseen power, appeared before the dragons, casting an otherworldly gaze that held a presence beyond the boundaries of power they could comprehend.
|y-your Majesty?!|
Not ’Lordship, or ’Excellency’, but ’Majesty’.
|Hmm? Ikerth’s pet lizards? |
For proud dragons such as themselves, calling them ’pet lizards’ of someone else, even if that person was their King, was an insult they would kill for.
But in this case, they had no choice but to swallow that pride completely, if they wanted to live past the next few minutes.
Ikerth’s Clan of Dragons, the Xagems, and the Westley Werewolves have been at odds ever since the incident with Jamie and Ikerth hundreds of thousands of years ago.
So how would a Westley feel if they heard a Dragon under Ikerth speak their Surname name with such ’Animosity’ in their tone?
|I wonder, which one of us were you referring to? The way you spoke with such hostility, it seemed like you were about to wipe out a whole clan. |
|...w-we don’t dare, Your Majesty! |
|Yes! Yes! We are incapable of even dreaming about such grand actions. |
The dragons quickly began their attempts to save their skin and avoid the wrath of whichever Westley they had provoked, but even they knew that their chances right now, were slim.
|You say you don’t dare? But what if I think you do? |
The two dragons tried to maintain their calm while wracking their brains, trying to figure out ways to save themselves.
’Just who exactly is this?! The voice is female, so that narrows things down a bit, but even among the Female Westley Werewolves, there are at least six possible options.
Which one of—’
|Don’t rack your brains too much, I would not be asking you any questions. |
This unknown female Westley’s words had the two dragons look up to the eyes staring down at them with renewed hope of survival in their gazes, but the next line she uttered, crushed their hopes to pieces under its weight.
|I’d get my answers myself.
Authority of Life and Death: Soul Search|
Faster than they could react, the energy of the laws of life and death filled the area, penetrating through the body of one of the dragons and wrapping around his soul seamlessly.
These laws insinuated themselves into the dragon’s soul, bypassing all his defences as if they weren’t even there.
The wielder of these powers found their consciousness flooded with the dragon’s most recent memories, a stream of visions and experiences transmitted through the intricate threads of law energy.
|I see... 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
So our ’Idiot brother’ has woken up and just like always he goes to cause a commotion in someone else territory. |
The face of the other dragon who was still conscious paled rapidly when he heard her words. His brain blared alarm bells in his head, placing emphasis on the word ’Brother’.
’No way?!’
Any semblance of hope that the dragon had disappeared, and he silently accepted his fate as he knew he had zero way out.
Trying to fight back was futile, as the energy constricting the space around him made it so he could not even move a muscle, nor manipulate his energies.
|As for you two Lizards...I don’t wish to stain my hands. |
The star-sized eyes glowed with an eerie light right before a string of words were spoken.
|Aspect of the Wolf: World Devouring Jaws. |
The space behind the two dragons fractured like shards of glass, revealing a colossal illusory avatar of a ferocious wolf.
With its wide-open maw, the wolf snapped the two dragons up within its jaws and bit down on them hard, tearing their upper bodies away before spitting them out.
Left in its mouth, were two orbs of red light, each one holding 3 translucent energy barriers around it. The wolf proceeded to chomp down on these orbs, effortlessly shattering the barriers with its powerful jaws and consuming the white orbs of light.
|Hmm? They had pretty high-quality souls.
Oh well, that’s not important.
I wonder where Second Brother is...I need to tell him that our Idiot Eldest has finally woken up from his beauty sleep. |
Just like that, a random encounter ended the lives of two of Ikerth’s dragons.
