Beneath the Surface: Secrets of an Obsessed Heart-Chapter 82 - 81
Chapter 82: Chapter 81
"Oh baby I’m sorry." He said, slipping his arms around Hiro’s waist and pulling him into a tight warm hug, hoping to offer some comfort. "I’m really sorry. It completely skipped my mind."
"I know." Hiro sobbed, burying his face in Raiden’s chest. "I’m not angry. Just sad." His voice came out muffled against Raiden’s shirt but Raiden could still make out the words and the pain in them was unmistakable.
He felt a surge of self-directed anger as he watched Hiro cry. He hated seeing Hiro in pain, and it was even worse knowing that he was the cause of it. How could he have been so thoughtless? How could he have forgotten that this place once belonged to Hiro’s mother? He cursed inwardly. He had to find a way to make it up to Hiro.
Hiro, on the other hand, wasn’t angry with Raiden. His sadness stemmed from the flood of memories the place brought back. He remembered how his mother would scold him and Saika whenever they were caught by the guards, and how Sora would also get reprimanded for not keeping a closer eye on them. The memories, though tinged with fondness, brought an overwhelming sense of loss.
He used to get upset then but now, he’d give anything to hear his mum scold him again. He missed them so much. He recalled Raiden’s promise to get him to see his parents again but he didn’t want to ask about the progress beacuse he didn’t want Raiden to feel pressured.
He still had his brother’s issue too...
"Do you feel better now?" Raiden asked when he noticed that Hiro had stopped crying.
Hiro lifted his head and smiled. "I do."
Raiden was momentarily overwhelmed by a wave of emotion, as if hit by a shower of rainbows.
I do...
Those simple words made him think of a dream he always had.
A large beautiful garden, their families together, him and Hiro facing each other, exchanging rings...
He shook his head, forcing himself back to the present. Now was not the time to be distracted by thoughts of marriage. He just tricked Hiro into a relationship. He had to make the relationship real before thinking of taking things further.
He lowered his head and pressed his mouth against Hiro’s, kissing him softly and gently.
Hiro was already getting used to Raiden’s random kisses. He parted his lips, allowing Raiden’s warm tongue to dive into his mouth. He moaned, shivering slightly as he felt Raiden’s arms tighten around him. The kiss was short and comforting.
"I’m sorry," Raiden murmured, pulling away.
"It’s okay," Hiro whispered. "It’s not your fault. Don’t apologize again."
Raiden smiled. "I’ll walk you back to my office, then head to the meeting. You’ll be okay, right?"
Hiro nodded, touched by how much Raiden cared.
It further solidified his thoughts about Raiden’s character. Sora was wrong. They just never tried to truly understand Raiden.

Hiro had just woken up from a particularly pleasant nap. He sat up and stretched, feeling the remnants of sleep slowly fade away. Taking a nap felt really nice. He couldn’t remember the last time he had one. He was always busy working, trying to earn money so they could at least have three square meals everyday.
He glanced at the clock on the wall, surprised to see that it was already 1:46 in the afternoon. He had slept well into the afternoon. Oh well, he had nothing to do anyways. It was better to catch up on all the sleep he had missed. freewebnøvel_com
Noticing Raiden’s chair was vacant, he surmised that Raiden was still caught up in his meeting. Hiro couldn’t fathom how people tolerated such long, tedious gatherings. He used to accompany his mum to her board meetings when he was younger and he always fell asleep halfway through.
Feeling a twinge of boredom creeping in, Hiro decided to distract himself with a game on his phone. He had downloaded a really interesting one where he had to kill hordes of zombies and just as he was about to start, a knock echoed through the room.
He wondered who it could be. It certainly wasn’t Raiden, as it was his office and he could come and go as he pleased. Sighing, Hiro stuffed his phone into his pocket and walked over to the door.
Upon opening it, he was met with the sight of an averagely tall woman with long dark hair and almond shaped dark eyes carrying a precarious stack of files. She smiled stiffly at him.
"Hello, Mr. Watanabe. I am Mina Endo. Is Mr. Yamato in?" she asked, her voice polite yet slightly strained as she stared at him in a weirdly annoyed manner.
Hiro blinked, surprised by the unexpected visitor. "No, he’s still in a meeting," he replied, glancing at the empty chair to emphasize his point.
Mina nodded, her smile becoming a bit more forced as she adjusted the files in her arms. "I see. I’ll wait then," she said, stepping back slightly.
Hiro looked at the files in her arms, noticing that they were heavy. He couldn’t possibly let her stand outside the office with those files so he stepped aside to let her in. "You can wait inside if you want," he offered, motioning towards a chair near the desk. "I’m sure he’ll be out soon."
"Thank you," Mina said, walking in and carefully setting the files down on the desk before taking a seat.
"Would you like some tea? Or coffee?" Hiro asked as he walked to the mini kitchen area.
"No, thank you," Mina replied. "Some water would be fine, though."
Hiro nodded and poured her a glass of cold water, then walked over and handed it to her. She collected it, then gazed at Hiro from head to toe in a degrading manner. "This suits you, you know. Serving others."
Hiro, who was about to return to the kitchen area, paused in his tracks. He turned to look at her, confused. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me," Mina sneered. "You’re truly something, Watanabe Hiro. Your family fell from grace and just a few weeks ago, you were cleaning toilets and mopping the floors of this very facility. Now, you’re the Boss’s boyfriend."
Hiro’s eyes narrowed slightly as he tried to process her words. What was she getting at? "I don’t see how my past concerns you."
"Oh, it concerns me," Mina replied, her tone dripping with disdain. "I’ve been trying to get Raiden’s attention for years. I’ve worked hard, earned my place here. And then you come along, flaunting your way into his life and taking advantage of his kindness. You seduced him, didn’t you?"
