Chapter 135: 1v4

Seeing the two boys come at him, the expression of the light mage darkened. He looked at his remaining two teammates, who were far away, and knew that they would not be able to arrive in time to help him.

He had to face these two by himself. Before he could even think of what to do next, a large fireball and a meter-long wind blade were launched at him. He instantly turned around and bolted, trying to run away from the spells; his only choice now was to buy time for his teammates to come help him, that was if they would be able to.

While the light mage was being harassed by the two boys from the Fierce Storm Magic Academy, the two water mages from the Prodigies Magic Academy turned their eyes on the earth mage girl who was now alone in front of them.

Their ice mage had been knocked out by the opponent’s lightning mage and their light mage was currently too far away for them to help, an opponent right in front of them.

Their next course of action couldn’t be clearer. Take out this Earth mage before attacking the lightning mage together.

There was only one Core mage, the two of them could manage; they just hoped that their light mage would last long enough.

Without speaking, the two water mages from The Prodigies Magic Academy summoned their stars as they rushed toward the earth mage.

They remembered not to get too close and cast their spells from 12 meters away.

Two dazzling blue star patterns formed as two voices called out simultaneously.

"Water blade!"

"Water blade!"

Whoosh!

Two dazzling water blades shot out from the two star patterns and flew toward the girl in front of them quickly.

The expression on the girl’s face didn’t change even when two people attacked her, her palms were still planted on the ground even at this moment. Seeing the two water blades flying toward her, she pushed mana out of her body and continued to use "earth control".

Rumble!

The ground gave a faint tremor as a long crack formed in front of the girl, from which a small earth wall rose and stood proudly in front of the girl like an ancient city gate.

Bam!

The first water blade slammed into the earth wall, causing a deep cut mark on the surface of the wall before scattering into water droplets that splashed everywhere.

Bang!

The second water blade crashed into the earth wall with a force just as strong as the last. The earth wall was finally unable to hold and instantly crumbled under the impact of the water blade, but the water blade had turned into countless water droplets as well after making contact with the earth wall.

The girl had managed to block the attacks from the two!

Cheers resounded through the stadium as the spectators watched with excitement. The students from both academies cheered for those representing them, while the common viewers cheered for an exciting fight.

None of the students in the arena reacted to these cheers as they faced each other. Seeing how the girl blocked their attacks, the two boys from The Prodigies Magic Academy glanced at each other and instantly knew what to do.

Attack from different directions!

The girl they were facing was an Adept mage so her control over the spell wouldn’t be at the stage where she could focus on multiple directions yet, her mana reserve also wouldn’t let her control the earth around her from different points at the same time.

Both of them instantly moved, splitting up with one going around the girl as they prepared to attack her with spells again.

However, the sound of a sharp wind rang out at this moment.

A purple streak of lightning suddenly appeared from the side and slammed into one of the two boys who were about to attack the earth mage.

It was the lightning Core mage of the opponent’s team!

BAM!

A powerful palm slammed into the boy’s chest and some lightning was transferred over to his body, shocking him so much that his eyes almost rolled back.

The boy’s body caved in and his feet rose off the ground as he was sent flying back like a broken kite, he flew for dozens of meters before finally crashing into the ground.

His body rolled for a few more meters even after the crash before finally coming to a stop. Everyone could see the thin arcs of lightning cracking around the boy’s body, causing his body to tremble occasionally but he didn’t make any attempt to get up.

The last water mage stared at his teammates who had been sent flying into the distance with a shocked face before looking back at the lightning mage and earth mage in front of him

Two girls, one had her palms placed on the floor while the other one’s body cracked with lightning.

The situation was still a 2v1 but not in his favour anymore.

He gritted his teeth, unwilling to give up and summoned his stars. The five stars appeared around him and started to connect.

But the lightning mage was even faster. Her purple stars appeared around her and connected into a complete star pattern in less than two seconds.

"Lighting ball!"

A large orb of lightning formed above her palm almost immediately after her voice sounded, which she proceeded to throw at the water mage in a grey coat.

The eyes of the water mage trembled upon seeing this, his star had also formed by now but he had to dodge first before he could attack.

He jumped to the side skillfully, avoiding the fast lightning ball and was about to send out a water blade when someone crashed into him from behind and knocked him forward.

A pained scream sounded from the lungs of the water mage as he was sent flying, he turned to look and saw the other two members of the enemy’s team behind him. It was the wind mage who had attacked him with a wind blade!

Thud!

The water mage fell to the ground a few meters behind the two girls and rolled a few times before jumping back to his feet. His eyes briefly scanned the four opponents in front of him before searching for members of his team.

The ice mage and the other water mage had been knocked out by the lightning mage some time ago, as for the light mage.

Turns out that he had been blasted away by a fireball and was saved by one of the referees.

He was now the only one left, a 1v4 against a Core lightning mage, an Adept earth mage who was like a turtle, and two other Adept rank mages.

Plus, he had been hit already and could still feel the pain on his back; his coat had been turned and his skin was probably bruised already.

What was he supposed to do now?

Without waiting to be attacked by these four, the water mage lifted a hand and surrendered.

The referees immediately announced the end of the match, followed by the name of the Fierce Storm Magic Academy being projected in the air by the projection orbs, announcing the winners of the match.

Cheers rang out through the stadium, and it was louder from the side where the sitting area of the Fierce Storm Magic Academy was located as their students rejoiced over their first victory in the tournament.

The side of The Prodigies Magic Academy was quieter as the students watched with unhappy expressions.

The four students of the Fierce Storm Magic Academy walked out of the ring with their heads raised in pride while their opponents helped each other out of the arena.

Without delay, the projection orbs projected the names of the next academies for their match. The academies already knew when their turn would come through the list from earlier and the students representing them were already waiting nearby.

When their names were projected, they immediately went up to the arena.

The two academies that were currently fighting were the Starfall Magic Academy, which was ranked second in the previous tournament, and the Black Rose Magic Academy, which was ranked 12th. The second academy was also the academy that Alex would be facing first during the solo mode matches.

The students of the Starfall Magic Academy wore white tracksuit uniforms with a star crest on both sides of their chests. On one crest was a vivid picture of their elements, while on the other was a number that represented their years at the academy.

The students from the Starfall Magic Academy were all boys and all of them had the ice element.

As for the students from the Black Rose Magic Academy, their uniform was black buttoned down jackets with shoulder epaulettes, girls had knee-length pleated skirts while boys had black trousers, and black fingerless gloves.

On their left arms were armbands of different colours and shades.

An interested look appeared on Alex’s face. The uniform of the Black Rose Magic Academy reminded him of the uniforms of military schools back in his previous world.
