Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 348: Pausing
The moment Kaizer and Xavier used their powers against each other, the entire Lion tribe shook in tremor.
Xavier used his ice shards against the wolf Beastman’s shadow creature. The impact left both of them shaken.
Kaizer’s eyes turned sharp. His shadow had never experienced something like this. The way the Fox king manipulated his powers was unlike anything. Letting this fight drag on would only exhaust him.
’Come back’ With his command, his Shadow returned to him, merging together with him. All his powers channeled inside his body. Although it strained him, this was the best bet he could bring against Xavier. Using all he had against the enemy was necessary. But before he could resume attacking, Xavier’s voice stopped him.
"So it was you?" Xavier said with a chuckle making Kaizer confused.
The Fox king had mirth dancing in his eyes and a satiated smirk on his face. It was like he was not on the battlefield. It irked Kaizer.
"I had my doubts before this but now I’m certain," Xavier said, "You were the one who killed my bastard of a father"
Noah and Blake glanced at Kaizer in surprise hearing those words. They wanted to know if Kaizer was really the one who killed the late Fox king? This has been an unsolved mystery both within their family and in Beast City. The gruesome way King Jacob died had made most of the citizens tremble in dread. A mass search for the killer had taken place with Noah himself being in charge of it.
However, all the evidence and every witness found at the site were either insufficient or unreliable. No one could guess who killed him. But now? Noah observed Kaizer. Did the latter do it because of Lyra? That was the only explanation he could think of. So Kaizer knew about his mate long before they knew about him. And he had also figured out that the late Fox King was their enemy, who wanted to harm the female they loved.
Blake had one thought in his mind as he processed the truth. He was impressed. Kaizer was reckless yes, but he had done a perfect job eliminating the late Fox king. That too without leaving any traces that could end up linked to his Lilly. He owed it to the Black wolf.
"Tell me," Xavier’s voice brought everyone back to reality. The former had a crazed look on his face, "Did he suffer when he died?"
"I don’t know what you are talking"
Kaizer’s words made Xavier’s eyes narrow. "Don’t even bother denying it," the latter said, "I examined my father’s dead body before his burial. The traces that others missed," he looked at Noah while continuing, "The traces of your shadow beast, I found it"
His powers swirled around him as he added, "I failed to pinpoint the owner of those unique powers at that time, but now? Now I’m very sure, you were the one who killed my father "
Kaizer’s clenched jaw relaxed. His eyes were serene now, "So what?" There was no point in denying it anymore. Now that the truth was out, there was another added reason for them to fight. It made zero difference to him. If Xavier wanted to avenge his father’s death, then he could do so by continuing the fight.
However, contrary to his expectations, Xavier completely withdrew his powers, leaving everyone baffled. Instead, a swirling blue portal appeared before him. It was made clear that he was leaving.
"You are my hero, I will not fight you" his words were equally bizarre, "At least not today...." He changed his words as quickly as he said them. Xavier then glanced at Blake, "This is not the end, Snake. I will come back for her. Until then, take good care of her for me"
Nerve ticked on the side of Blake’s forehead. This lunatic!
With those final words, the Fox king completely disappeared from his place as well as the portal he had created.
...
Back in the castle, Lyra held Victor for support as the ground beneath her trembled. Meanwhile, he hugged his mate to stop her from falling while his wings sprouted out of his back steadying them.
"Is it an earthquake?" She asked urgently, her hair still damp from the recent bath.
Victor shook his head and replied, "They are fighting."
That was all Lyra needed to understand. Her face paled. Kai and the Fox King were fighting. Why was he doing this? She couldn’t help but feel distressed. She thought he would leave once he found himself outnumbered. I mean why would he even fight in the first place? For her? She was a stranger to him.
Xenon didn’t even remember his past life so why was he doing this? Was he that hell bent on tormenting her in all their lives? Lyra knew him, he was doing this just to make her miserable.
She was at her wits’ end as she asked, "Can Kaizer defeat him? No, no," She mumbled, changing her words, "He will be safe, right?"
"Kaizer is strong, sweet girl"
"I know," she was beyond frustrated. "I know, but will he be safe?" That was what she really wanted to know. She knew it was inevitable that her mates would face Xavier as long as he acted like a madman towards her. There was no stopping that; nonetheless, she was worried about its consequences. Worried about her mates.
"At best, they will just kill each other, Kaizer will not lose." Victor decided to tell the truth, "At the end of their fight, the entire Beast city will be brought down to rubble." Two immortal beastmen with powers beyond comprehension in their arsenal were not good news to the city.
Lyra looked at Victor with wide eyes. His words only increased her fear, "Then we must stop them"
"There is not a single Beastman in this city that is capable of stopping those two," Victor remarked, "Kyrell might be able to hold them off but not without getting hurt himself during the process"
"Then what...?"
Victor hugged his mate before she could finish her words. Like her, he had also thought that Xavier might leave once Kaizer reached there. It was simply disadvantageous for him to fight. Not only was he outnumbered, but the reason for this fight, his sweet girl, was far from his reach. Defeating Kaizer and simultaneously searching for Lyra was not possible.
Killian could easily take her to a location only he knew about through his portal. The Fox King would end up with empty hands if that happens. The latter should know all this but why was he still fighting Kaizer? Or was he.....?
Victor concentrated his senses and the wind to hear better. The fight had stopped at some point. He could also not sense King Xavier’s presence in the Lion tribe. He wondered what had happened.
