Beastmen: She Tames the Land-Chapter 216: The Green Thing and The Fabric
Visha walked towards the vicinity of the tribesmen who sent the pack link. When she arrived, she was surprised to see a variety of seafood, many of which were in large vats filled with water.
She had thought about seafood more than once since she arrived here. But she hadn’t asked. It had taken so long just to find their home; she didn’t feel the need to traverse the continent in search of lobster. She could have fish from time to time.
Seeing the seafood, she couldn’t help but do a little dance internally. She wasn’t worried about them spoiling; she had the space to keep fresh. She walked up to the stall, tapping her tribesmen on the shoulder.
After giving a respectful bow, they left. They didn’t call her Priestess, as Visha didn’t want to be acknowledged as a Priestess by others. She preferred that they thought she was a normal or high-ranking female of a tribe.
The large vats were filled with silvery fish, still alive. There were also some strung up. These had been dried. There was kelp and seaweed, most of which was dry. Seeing them, Visha knew immediately that the green thing they mentioned was these two things.
She also saw shellfish of varying sizes. Seeing the crab, she almost swooned. Not because she was missing seafood, but because of the size. Things on the Beast Continent are always bigger, and the same could be said of the seafood.
She had no problem getting these things for the tribe. It was just a matter of getting them to eat it. She herself didn’t like kelp. But some might. She could only pretend it was the best thing she had tasted, so the others would try it.
Maybe she was staring too long. The person in charge of the stall called out to her.
"Female, is there something you need?"
She had seen the exchange between the young male and the woman. In her eyes, Visha was the female of a powerful male. Because she didn’t know her name, she could only call her female.
"Sorry, I was dazed by the variety of things you have." Visha smiled a sweet smile. Seeing the female was amicable, she decided to do the same.
The female laughed. "They aren’t worth much. We see these things all the time. It’s everyone else that thinks they are a novelty."
"They’re still good things. I want to exchange with you, but I’m not sure if you would be willing? You can call me Visha, by the way."
"Amair," the woman said, a smile bright on her face. "So what would you like?"
"Everything," Visha replied simply. "I just don’t know if I have enough to trade for it."
Amair’s eyes went wide. She didn’t think Visha would say she wanted everything. And while she didn’t know yet what she would offer in exchange, it was nice to know that their things were so valued.
Before Visha came, she was having a hard time. Some hooligan lions were circling their stall. If not for the person from Visha’s tribe who scared them away, she would still be having troubles. Now, she said she wanted everything.
"You...are you sure? Beastmen don’t really like the taste of these things. They prefer deer and things like that."
"It doesn’t matter what they prefer. They’ll eat it if I give it to them."
Amair was even more certain she was a high-ranking male’s partner. The way she spoke, so casually and confidently, made Amair feel better about her in return.
"What would you like to use in exchange? The tribe would prefer different kinds of meat in place of these. If you don’t have meat, we can try something else."
"We don’t have enough meat to trade. We do have spices and flour. If you have issues with not being able to find drinking water, we have something that can make dirty water clean. I also have some healing salves and things for beauty."
Amair was disappointed when she heard Visha say she wouldn’t be able to trade everything in meat. Because they are close to the sea, most of their food comes from the sea. Though they can eat meat, it isn’t something they eat often.
Her eyes brightened, however, when she heard about the thing to clear dirty water. Recently, their watering hole has been making people sick. If they could find something that could help, that would be great. But she would need to speak to the tribe leader.
"Could you...wait for me, just a while? I need to get the tribe leader."
Visha nodded. She didn’t mind manning the stall for her for a while. She wanted the products, and it was obvious that something she said appealed to Amair.
While Visha was waiting, Uri and Xeno had made their way over to the other stall and were inspecting the goods.
"This is the silk, and this is the cotton."
Using their link, they spoke to each other without others getting in the way. They were not the only people standing here. This stall had a great attraction for a number of beastmen. Not simply because of the clothing, but because of the females.
They hadn’t expected that when they arrived, the stall would be so crowded. It took some time to find their tribesmen. And when they did, they almost had to throw them across the bazaar to get them to move.
The females standing here were obviously from a fox tribe. However, it was not the same tribe as Reyn.
The female stood with delicate smiles, their eyes charming, their body moving in ways that appeared to unintentionally seduce the male viewer. Had it been any other males, they would have been mesmerized by the beauties, but Uri and Xeno were only focused on the task at hand.
When they finally got to the front, their eyes surveyed the material.
"This one is cotton, this is silk, and this is linen."
Uri used tendrils of vital energy to point them out to Xeno. He nodded in return and looked up at the women.
"We would like to trade for some of your materials. How are we supposed to trade? We have spices, flour, healing salves, and things to help clean water. Which of these would be good for you?"
The female he was looking at opened her mouth slightly. She hadn’t expected the beastman to be so unaffected by them. In their tribe, whether male or female, it didn’t stop others from ogling them.
This was a breath of fresh air. Or it would be if their very nature wasn’t that of seduction.
"You don’t need to trade any of these things. All I ask is that you spend some time with me."
The other beastmen around them sucked in air. They had been standing here this entire time, wanting to spend time with these beautiful women. This one was the first to offer herself.
"I only need to trade for the materials. What would you like to trade? I don’t want to spend time with you. There are other beastmen here who would be thrilled with the chance."
Xeno’s voice was flat, as if he didn’t hear the seduction in her tone and didn’t see the way her eyes lit up when she spoke to him. He pretended not to see her hand reaching towards his and stepped lightly to the side to avoid it.
"Is there someone else willing to trade?"
Uri asked, his cold eyes boring into the woman. If not for keeping the peace, she would already be dead.
When the female met Uri’s eyes, she staggered and looked away. Her smile disappeared quickly.
Xeno, beside him, chuckled. He knew Uri’s possessive tendencies were rearing their head.
"Calm down. With her look, do you think she could seduce me? I am curious, though. This is the first tribe we have seen that can use vital energy. It doesn’t seem like a spell, but more like an innate charm."
"Oh, you think she’s charming?"
"I never said that," Xeno answered quickly. "I said no such thing. I’m saying there is something weird about them. Stop being jealous."
Having sent the female away, a male came forward. He had a similar build to Uri, and his voice was smooth, making people feel comfortable.
"I was told you need some help."
His eyes flickered between Uri and Xeno. He was curious about the two men able to resist their charms. He came out, both to see if he could help and to see if he would affect them in any way.
The Beast Continent has no shortage of male-to-male partners. But most prefer to have females who can continue their lineage. After giving birth to the cub, they can choose to stay together or separate.
In places where partnership is more serious, they can only choose between having a female or a male. This will be their life partner.
"Yes. We would like to know, how do you plan to trade?"
