Chapter 214: First day of trading

That night, everyone, tired from all the work, went to sleep. Visha, Uri, and Xeno lay in bed together.

"She left."

Uri and Xeno nodded. The traitor waited until everyone was asleep before leaving. Well, she thought everyone was asleep.

They didn’t follow. Only wanting to see how far she would take things. The people she met with were Reyn and Zeek. It wasn’t hard to get the information they wanted. Currently, the trio is the strongest people in the valley.

Waiting is the only thing they can do. Since they wanted to make a trap, the trio would allow it. They wanted to see if they could get any information out of them. Because they were unsure of why those two wanted to harm them.

Not thinking about anything else, they closed their eyes and went to bed.

The next day came quickly. Today would be their first day of trading.

The first light of dawn forces them to awaken from their slumber. The sound of chatter was already high. The various smells in the air from people cooking attracted others to wake up.

The Spiritfang tribe was one of the tribes that caused people to rouse from their sleep. They did not only have meat, but also vegetables and cakes.

Cooking like this had become a part of their daily routine. So even if they cultivate and do not need to eat every day, it brings them a sense of enjoyment.

It didn’t take long for them to get ready after eating. They noticed that some beastmen would glance their way when they saw them; however, they didn’t place much stock in it. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Leaving the living area, they found that people were waiting to take them to their designated stalls. As for how they decided who would go to what stall, it was none of their concern. What mattered was that they had a stall.

As they were brought to their stalls, so were others. They didn’t bring their products immediately. They wanted to see what sort of goods were around, so they knew what they needed to bring out.

The stall had a steady frame. It offered protection from the hot sun or rain. There was a place to store products if needed. It was simple in structure but capable of handling the necessities of bartering.

The trio stood to the side, watching the scene. She wanted to see whether their items were unique or if they were simple things that could be found anywhere.

It was also at this time that Visha acknowledged that they were still very cut off. From the time they began trading with the River Clan and the Stone-horns, they had only ventured out once.

Now, their knowledge consists only of the few things they learned from the two tribes. They are grateful, but they also know that there are many things these tribes might withhold from them or simply do not know.

A nearby stall had a group of fierce-looking beastmen who had tools such as axes, knives, and hooks. In her opinions the craftsmanship was good, but the Stone-horns’ works were more polished.

There were some other stalls closeby with what appeared to be silk. They themselves were wrapped in silk, wearing it in a way that resembled a sari.

Visha was interested in this. She wondered how they would be able to barter with them. Seeing the items available, she felt it was fine to contact the tribe to send down the items.

There were some who were selling spices like themselves, but so far, she had not seen anyone who mixed their spices into a blend as they did.

"Bring half the inventory. We’ll see what we can barter."

Visha sent a pack link. Ever since they arrived, they had taken to using the pack link more often than not.

She remembered she got the pack link ability because of the system. She thought about other tribes and wondered if they, too, had the same ability. She also wondered briefly about the system.

At first, she could still feel it. It was lurking. But as soon as they stepped into the vicinity of the valley, it was as if it disappeared. She could still connect to it, but it felt like it had gone into hibernation.

She shook her head, no longer thinking about it.

It didn’t take long for them to bring the spices and other things to the stall. They had been standing here with an empty stall and had received strange looks, but it didn’t matter.

"Where do we go now?" Xeno asked, looking at the stalls.

"I was thinking we should look for some of the things the tribe doesn’t have. I’m tired of eating flour; I want something new. I want to see if we can find some seeds. Maybe some cotton as well."

Because their scope of travel isn’t far, they have a variety of vegetables and meat, but not other things. Things like rice and corn aren’t things they have access to.

Now, they have the chance to look around; they may as well do so.

They made sure to keep the range small. This was the first day, and they didn’t want to be away from the tribe for too long. They didn’t split up because they were unsure of whether there would be trouble. Also, Visha was the only one who could really understand what each item was before anyone else.

In the vicinity, there wasn’t much else besides the silks she had seen before. But she wouldn’t talk to them today. If there were silks today, there would be silks tomorrow. Even if they weren’t the ones selling it.

The day ended quickly. They did not get rid of all the inventory on the first day, but they were able to barter for a few things. Most of them were small trinkets. Tomorrow, they would spread out to find new things.

And thus the first day of the festival ended.
