Chapter 170: Chapter 170: Experiences on the Bus

Lin Yi always felt it was too costly for the kids to attend training classes. If she were to get a piano costing several thousand back, he would nag all year long.

But now things are different. Lin Yi has more money than he knows what to do with, and Yaya is his only granddaughter; he’s clearly more biased towards her. Now, getting a piano might only cause him to grumble a couple of times, but he definitely won’t get angry.

With a plan in mind, Lin Qin remained calm and said, "What about the others?"

Bai Linlin pondered, "As for English, there’s no need to mention it. There aren’t many kids learning English at our place, and you really have foresight; the little one can now engage in simple English conversations. As for calligraphy, you can see the results, so I won’t say more.

Ping’an is very focused and persistent. His writing and drawings have become models for our institution’s enrollment. Many parents are full of praise when they see Ping’an’s work, enrolling their children without much hesitation.

Moreover, his English is even better than Yaya’s. You could say he’s a good learner. At his age, to be so composed is really rare, but unfortunately..."

Bai Linlin didn’t continue.

Lin Qin understood, "No one is perfect, and we’ve been working on his physical flaws. Over the past two years, he’s been exercising more, and he clearly looks a lot better. Given time, I believe he can break out of his shell and astonish everyone."

Lin Qin’s eyes were burning with determination, which slightly amazed Bai Linlin, who nodded in agreement.

"And then there are the Xu Jian and Xu Kang brothers. Xu Jian, being older, absorbs knowledge faster, while Xu Kang is a bit slower. However, under the influence of Ping’an and Yaya, they’ve become very diligent and are gradually catching up.

I noticed Xu Jian has good lung capacity, he’s tall and strong. If conditions at home allow, he could learn to play a wind instrument like the saxophone, which would add another skill. Xu Kang is quite hyperactive and can’t sit still. Letting him learn calligraphy to calm his temperament might be a good idea."

Lin Qin listened attentively to Bai Linlin’s suggestions.

She thought about it and discussed with Lin Yi and Chen Wenjun, deciding to visit Lin Ying to talk about the children’s studies.

Since they were going, they definitely needed to bring some gifts for the new year.

So Lin Qin went to the mall to buy some imported snacks and desserts, grabbed a bunch of seafood and fruit, and filled up a car.

Lin Yi drove her to the bus station on a tricycle, loaded the items onto the bus, and repeatedly reminded her, "The town is called Pingxi Town. Get off at the town market; your big sister has a stall nearby."

These were all things Lin Ying had previously told Lin Yi, and he remembered them.

Lin Qin nodded, waving goodbye to Lin Yi.

Once she boarded the bus, she discovered it was very dirty, probably hadn’t been cleaned.

She found a seat by the window and opened it for some fresh air.

Soon, a young couple boarded the bus. The man was dressed in a military uniform, standing tall and firm with a determined look.

The woman was glamorously dressed, wearing a long skirt underneath a red coat, with exquisite curls and heavy makeup.

As soon as she was on the bus, she started complaining, clutching the man’s arm, "I told you I don’t like taking this kind of bus. You know that, so why make me suffer like this?"

The man patiently explained in a low voice, "We’ve been dating for a year. How can we get married if you won’t meet my parents back home?"

The woman gave a cold snort, "Getting married is something you report to the organization, you don’t need to come back! This place is poor and backward, can’t even compare to Shanghai. I don’t care, I just don’t like it here!"

The man looked deeply at her and asked, "Does that mean if we get married, you still won’t come back with me?"

The woman got angry, "Why should I come back with you! Su Shengning, you have a great future ahead of you. Your future is in the big city, not in such a backward, desolate place. The only reason we can be together is that you’ll stay and develop in the big city. Isn’t that what you think?"

Su Shengning pursed his lips, clenched his teeth, and said word by word, "I actually don’t have that thought."

The woman got furious, released Su Shengning’s hand, and angrily got off the bus.

Su Shengning hurriedly chased after her, grabbing the woman’s wrist, "Jin Jing, please don’t make a scene, okay? When did I ever tell you I would stay in the big city?"

The woman named Jin Jing couldn’t comprehend Su Shengning’s thought process, becoming increasingly distraught. Her voice turned shrill, "Why wouldn’t you stay in the big city? You’re so outstanding, with such a bright future, why be foolish? Su Shengning, I’m telling you, I absolutely won’t allow you to do that! Even if you want to, my dad won’t agree!"

"Where are you going?" Su Shengning watched as Jin Jing walked away without looking back, leaving her luggage behind, and became very anxious.

Jin Jing ignored him entirely.

After they wrangled for a while, just when Lin Qin thought the two wouldn’t get back on the bus, unexpectedly, the man named Su Shengning boarded the bus again and even sat next to Lin Qin.

Throughout the ride, the man wore a very grim expression, but he still courteously helped elderly passengers and even gave up his seat to an elderly person who was struggling to move.

Lin Qin watched out of curiosity but didn’t interfere too much.

Soon, the bus arrived at Pingxi Town.

The ticket conductor shouted, and Lin Qin snapped back to reality, quickly raising her hand, "I’m getting off!"

Just as she spoke, Su Shengning also moved towards the back.

The two of them got off one after the other, and when retrieving her luggage, it was Su Shengning who helped Lin Qin.

Lin Qin hurriedly expressed her gratitude.

Su Shengning stared at the pile of stuff in front of Lin Qin, glanced around suspiciously, and asked, "Big sister, is no one picking you up? How will you bring all this back?"

Lin Qin felt a bit embarrassed and quickly pointed to a convenience store, "I’m going to make a call to let a relative know. She runs a small business in town and should come over soon."

Su Shengning obediently nodded, "Then I’ll watch your luggage for a while."

Though it was a town and not as populated as a city, there were quite a few people coming and going, including potential pickpockets.

Lin Qin sighed, feeling lucky to have encountered a good person today, and quickly went to call Lin Ying.

In less than ten minutes, Xu Dahai arrived on a tricycle, "Sister-in-law! I’m here!"

Su Shengning, seeing that Lin Qin’s relatives had arrived, said, "Big sister, I’ll be off then."

Lin Qin hurriedly handed him a bag of fruit, "This is from my home. Take it and try it out, and thank you for your help."

"No, no, I can’t take it!" Su Shengning grabbed his luggage and ran off, leaving Lin Qin no chance to insist.

Lin Qin watched his agile long legs and realized she couldn’t catch up, so she ended up sharing the story with Xu Dahai with a wry smile.
