Xu Dahai looked full of admiration, "As expected, you are truly soldiers of the people, your way of thinking is just different from ours! Having been rebuked, Xu Dahai chuckled awkwardly and quickly set off, changing the topic, "We’re setting up a stall nearby, and we’ve bought land to build a house in town this year, it’s almost done, I’ll take you to see it this time."

Lin Qin neither agreed nor disagreed, as the tricycle took a couple of turns and arrived at the place where Lin Ying had set up her stall.

It was almost noon, and there were still quite a few people buying things at her stall, but there was no sign of Xu Xinyi.

"Where’s the kid?" Lin Qin asked.

Xu Dahai quickly pointed towards a nearby daycare, "At the daycare. Our town just happens to have one, the kid’s just old enough, so we sent her there."

Unlike in the city, the daycare here is limited to just one or two places, and they don’t accept non-self-sufficient children.

Lin Qin nodded to herself, "Sending her to daycare makes things much easier for you."

"Exactly! Otherwise, the two of us have to busy ourselves with the stall and the house construction, and taking care of her all the time is impossible. Plus, building a house is dangerous, if a small stone hits her, it’s no joke."

Since Lin Ying was still busy and there was quite a lot on the tricycle, Lin Qin had Xu Dahai take the things back first while she carried some fruit over to the stall.

Lin Ying saw her from afar and waved, "Why come at this time? Not busy, huh!"

"Just came to see you, I haven’t been to this place of yours yet! Also, to discuss the kid’s schooling with you."

As soon as Lin Qin mentioned it, Lin Ying immediately took it to heart, "Wait a moment, when Dahai comes over, I’ll take you to the new house and we can talk more thoroughly."

Lin Qin agreed, and first helped Lin Ying entertain the guests.

The sisters got so caught up in their work that they didn’t notice the time, until Xu Dahai came and Lin Ying pulled Lin Qin away.

Along the way, Lin Qin kept looking around the town.

In a few years, this place should have paved roads, with more buildings gradually making it more prosperous.

Currently, the roads are still dirt paths, although wide, they become muddy when it rains and dusty when it’s sunny, not presentable at all; the surrounding houses are not organized, most being old, poor, and small.

Seeing her curiosity, Lin Ying explained, "This is the town’s market street, stalls are set up before ten in the morning, all along the street, very long, quite bustling. After ten, those who pack up do so, only some are left like this. Our new house is being built up ahead, also on the main road, as per your suggestion, we have a storefront in the front and a yard at the back.

Since Xinyi is still small, I separated the front and back with a door. In the future, closing the door ensures the child won’t run off into the street."

Seeing that Lin Ying was so dedicated to the child, Lin Qin couldn’t help but smile, "This child is lucky to have you."

"Ah! Since we decided to adopt her, she is my own daughter. Let me tell you, no one in town knows this child is adopted by us, only the village people know, but the child is young and won’t remember. Dahai and I plan to move to town once the house is completed, so she won’t be teased permanently, and when the time comes, I’ll send her to the city to study."

Lin Ying was earnestly explaining her plans.

While speaking, the two of them reached Lin Ying’s new house.

Lin Qin thought it was just one shop, but upon arrival, she realized it was actually two connected shops, seen from the front it was a three-story building, with each floor about three meters high, though the area might be insufficient.

The house had just been completed, still being decorated, with only one door open.

Lin Ying explained, "One side is already decorated; we’re taking our time with the rest. We’re not in a rush, currently only two workers are working. Come, let me show you the decorated side."

Lin Ying opened the shop at the very edge.

Inside was about a hundred square meters, with the floor coated in special concrete paint, and the walls all whitewashed. At the end was a door, completely empty otherwise.

Lin Ying walked in and opened the small door, behind it was a living room, plus a kitchen and a bathroom.

Beside the living room was the stairway leading to the second floor.

Lin Ying said, "Altogether, it’s about 210 square meters, the second floor layout is similar to your house, with a living room for watching TV, plus a shared bathroom and five rooms. The third floor doesn’t have a living room, only four rooms, a shared bathroom, and an eighty-square-meter terrace.

The terrace being inside means you don’t have to worry about dust from the main road when drying clothes. There’s also a large courtyard here."

Saying this, Lin Ying opened the back door, though calling it a back door, it was actually more like a main door since it was double-sided.

As the door opened, a sixty-square-metre cemented courtyard was revealed in front of Lin Qin.

Lin Qin kept nodding, "Not bad, not bad, this yard is almost three hundred square meters; are you planning for Ah Jian and Ah Kang to live together in the future!"

Lin Ying grinned widely, nodding incessantly.

"I didn’t think too much about it, just figured if they don’t do well outside, they can come back and start a small shop to make a living. If they do well outside, I’ll rent out the shop back home for them, after all, the shop is separate from the back house. By then, locking both ends, or directly sealing that door, will not affect our living, right?"

Lin Qin gave a thumbs-up, "Sis, your idea is brilliant, once the house is fixed, you won’t have to worry about finding wives for them."

Lin Ying took a deep breath, her face filled with emotion, "Life was so hard before, I never imagined this day would come. I’ve already talked it over with your brother-in-law, once all these buildings are decorated, we’ll start on the plot next door for ourselves to live in. When we’re no longer here, that house will be for Xinyi. It’s just next door, let me show you."

Lin Qin nodded and followed Lin Ying towards that direction, not far before they encountered a familiar face.

"Teacher Su!" Lin Qin exclaimed, shocked to see her former class teacher.

Su Yonghuai didn’t expect to meet his student in this place and was likewise very surprised, "Lin Qin! What brings you here?"

Lin Qin quickly glanced at Lin Ying beside her, "This is my sister, my real sister. She married in Pingxi Town. What brings you here, teacher?"

Su Yonghuai, looking understanding, warmly said, "This is my hometown, it’s great to run into each other, come on in and have a sit."

Not able to refuse the hospitality, Lin Qin and Lin Ying entered the simple farmyard together.
