Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Searching For Leng Chuan’s Siblings

Why did Ma Yongcheng and Lu Qingtang decide to let Elder Peng and the wolf beastman go? Because they knew once they were in the real wilderness, their chance of survival was low.

Elder Peng was old; he lived a peaceful life in the village head’s residence. Although his strength had weakened a lot and was no longer as powerful as he was in his prime, his power was still decent. Yet, he never joined any hunting team again.

He basically lived off the village’s head.

But, he was also an elder, the younger brother of the village head’s father. As such, the village head couldn’t bring himself to chase him away even if he was dissatisfied.

On the other hand, the wolf beastman was injured. Beastmen’s injury didn’t take long to heal, however, his injuries weren’t light, so it will still take some time to heal.

Considering their recent fall out, it was also still unknown whether they would stick together.

So, the moment Xie Ziyuan brought the other three away, they fulfilled the promise to let the two go. The villagers could only watch reluctantly.

They didn’t forget to warn the two: "We will let you go only this once. Don’t appear in front of us again or we won’t be able to hold back!"

Elder Peng and the wolf beastman ran toward the woods as fast as possible; as if a ghost was chasing them.

How did Ma Yongcheng persuade the village beastmen not to retaliate against Elder Peng and the wolf beastman?

The number of the remaining beastmen who could hunt were too few in number, so they promised to help them hunt. Compared to taking revenge, they still prefer taking care of their stomach first.

There were a lot of beastmen, and honestly, they could fill in the number for the base’s residents. Yet, Xie Ziyuan wasn’t interested. These kinds of people who accuse others without investigating clearly would pollute the base’ atmosphere.

How about Qi Mian and Qi Tao’s fate?

They would also release them into the woods. Whether they can survive would depend on their ability. Of course, as a punishment, they confiscated the items on Qi Tao’s storage pouch.

The space inside was limited, only two cubic meters. Yet surprisingly, the items inside were quite valuable for self-preservation. There were some basic pills and talismans.

With so many life-saving methods, no wonder they swaggered into the forest without worry despite their pitiful battle experience.

Leng Chuan’s jaw tightened and his brows furrowed deeply, very restless. The process of taking care of these troublesome beastmen only took ten minutes, yet he already couldn’t sit still.

"Master Xie, everything is settled." He breathed out. He has just returned from checking the bear beastman and Zhao Chunmei, emphasizing to the villagers not to let them escape.

Xie Ziyuan nodded. In an inconspicuous corner, the four of them disappeared. They dumped the unconscious Qi siblings first before they went their way.

It took them a few rounds of teleportation before they arrived in the wood where the cave was located. They didn’t expect they would be back to this place so soon.

"That’s the cave!" Leng Chuan took large strides, hurriedly headed there. He jumped through some low branches and plants hindering his path.

Ma Yongcheng also ran after him while Lin Yu’an took steady steps. His crossbow was ready in his hand. His lips taut, full of concentration as he scanned the surroundings.

"Leng Chuan, wait!" Ma Yongcheng watched helplessly as Leng Chuan threw caution to the wind. The latter directly entered the cave. There were no fierce beasts gathered outside the cave, but since the cave entrance was wide open, there might be some inside.

Soon, he also arrived at the cave, cautiously entering to prevent any sneak attack.

Leng Chuan already turned the place upside down, not minding about stepping on dry bloodstains on the ground at all.

"Leng Jun!" He began to shout, calling each of his siblings’ names. "Leng Yi, Leng Ting. Brother is here to pick up all of you!"

However, no matter how much he shouted, there was no response.

"The bloodstains... Whose is it?" Leng Chuan mumbled in a daze, crouching down.

Ma Yongcheng, who happened to hear that, narrowed his eyes. "That should be the wretched monkey’s bloodstains."

He pointed at the dried bloody mark that stretched toward the entrance. "I suppose some kind of fierce beast must have dragged him out after Qi Mian and others left."

Leng Chuan heaved a sigh of relief. However, to be sure, he pointed to the bloodstains, "Can you sniff the scent to check if your guesses are all correct?"

Ma Yongcheng’s lips twitched. This scoundrel is treating him like a real dog! Even if he is a dog, he’s a kind dog with dignity. But, it was useless to argue with Leng Chuan whose current emotions were chaotic. As a good friend, he had to be more understanding.

Leng Chuan watched with anticipation as Ma Yongcheng leaned down and took a few sniffs.

"It’s really the stinky monkey’s scent." Ma Yongcheng grumbled, coughing a little. His face twisted in displeasure. "There are traces of beastmen with similar scent as you but not quite. Their scent isn’t as strong as the monkey’s."

"It means that my younger siblings have indeed been here." Leng Chuan let out a breath. Now that he had calmed down a little, he began to study his surroundings. "There aren’t many traces of fighting."

"When the fierce beast came to drag the monkey out, he might have been dead or too weak to put up any struggle." Leng Chuan summarized his findings.

"Master Xie." They greeted him when they saw Xie Ziyuan entering. Lin Yu’an was beside him.

Xie Ziyuan snapped out of his thoughts. That ghostly woman still hadn’t come since yesterday. No one would fight to harvest the rice with him, and he couldn’t help but feel a slight loss.

"They are not here." He stated, already using his sense to scan the surroundings. His eyes narrowed. "The three of them should have left the moment they realized you were not here."

Ma Yongcheng nodded seriously at Xie Ziyuan’s words and patted Leng Chuan’s shoulders. "Don’t worry, Brother Leng. Your siblings are smart and should have known you already left. They should be safe."

Xie Ziyuan’s lips curled up slightly. "Do you have your siblings’ items? Take it out and let Ma Yongcheng try."

"I have it!" Leng Chuan’s eyes lit up and he smacked his own forehead. Why didn’t he think of this method before?

Meanwhile, Ma Yongcheng was dumbfounded. Even Master Xie too? This team indeed can’t tolerate him anymore! He wailed in his heart.

Everyone is just after his sharp sense of smell, hmph!

Still, because Xie Ziyuan had spoken, he had to do it. Anyway, his sense of smell was indeed powerful. That was something he could be proud of!

With just one sniff, he could tell three similar yet different scents from the three items Leng Chuan had brought.

"There is still a faint scent in the air," Ma Yongcheng muttered, a little confused. "But they are from different directions?"

Unsure, he took another sniff and still ended up with the same conclusion. He told them. "I don’t know what has happened to your siblings. They seems to be separated from each other."
