Chapter 29: Chapter 29: New Hope

The leopard, Wei Rong, clicked his tongue. His face was filled with displeasure at Zhou Yunhan’s accusation.

"Yo, Blackie, I know we are incompatible like light and darkness." He sneered, mocking Zhou Yunhan’s black panther color. "But can you stop slandering me? Obviously I am here to seek refuge just like you."

"My heart is set wholeheartedly to our current base." He rolled his eyes. "Hand over the knife to me. You are taking so long. So weak now, eh?"

Zhou Yunhan glared murderously at him. He himself didn’t know why. Every time he saw this stinky leopard, he always felt displeased. He had tried to find out the reason, yet unfortunately, he couldn’t stand his presence.

When he had just entered the forest, he stumbled upon this wicked leopard. They happened to go after the same prey. No one was willing to back down, and the two fought, which ended up in both of them suffering great injuries.

Like a mantis stalking cicada, unaware of the oriole behind. In their half-death state, these hateful skunk and raccoon beastmen captured them.

Even until now, he couldn’t make sense why he was fighting this stinky leopard to death. It wasn’t what he intended to do at first. The matter was just too strange.

Now that they were in this base, he could only restrain himself not to give in to his impulse. He could only occasionally exchange insults with him.

Zhou Yunhan was too busy reminiscing about the memories that he didn’t notice when someone already snatched the butcher knife from him. He snorted, "Can you even do it?"

At some point in time, Mo Lingfeng already excused himself. He didn’t want to be caught between these two! Simply a torment to one’s ears. In order to run away, he didn’t even hesitate to grab a broom and started to sweep the leaves, pretending to be busy.

Xie Ziyuan took in what had happened from the watchtower. He had just done harvesting the other three plots of land and planting the four from the seedling tray.

He wouldn’t mind such a small squibble as long as they wouldn’t fight and affect others.

While others gathered around and enjoyed the meal prepared by the female beastmen, he stayed in the watchtower, enjoying his rice.

At the same time, Su Yining also had just finished cooking. She wiped the thin sweat on her forehead and began to savor her meal.

She bit her lip and finally made a decision to meet Han Zhicong. She sent him a message. "Can you meet me today? I have decided."

Han Zhicong better not be playing with her! Otherwise, she would make him suffer worse than just a mere unpaid overtime!

She knew she was taking a gamble by agreeing to this scoundrel’s plan. After all, it wasn’t without a reason that he and Chen Kaixuan were friends. They were still the birds of the same feathers that flock together.

He agreed that the two of them would meet during lunch.

A little bored, Su Yining opened the game again. She saw the cute chibis being busy around the castle.

Now, the shape of the elephant was finally revealed, no longer the dimly-lit shadow. The beastmen were still busy cutting it down, like diligent ants carrying food.

She saw the chat bubble above their heads.

"Ughh, the shit of this elephant stinks so much!" A female beastman let out a deep breath.

The gentle female rabbit beastman, Wan Lan smiled. She helped the other beastmen scooping the elephant poop that had spilled out from its innards.

"We can make use of this..." she suddenly muttered regretfully.

"Make use of this stinky thing? Don’t make a joke, Wan Lan." The female beastman waved her hand around her nose, looking like she was about to vomit.

Zhou Yunhan and Wei Rong also have stopped arguing. In order to separate the innards from the meat, they had gotten themselves dirty. The smell of shit clung to their bodies, making them frown.

"The base doesn’t even have a single plant around." Wan Lan bit her lip. "If Master Xie agreed, we can make simple pots from plastic bags. If we arrange it on a small rack, it wouldn’t take a lot of space."

The female beastman no longer commented. She frowned, but gradually she found Wan Lan’s idea quite feasible.

She had heard that this little rabbit had the power of nature. Although she couldn’t cleanse plants from contaminants, the ability to grow plants would make their base somewhat self-sufficient.

They just needed to pick edible plants.

"That’s a good idea." Zhou Yunhan nodded in agreement. "Lin Yuyao wouldn’t need to go out of the base to find some wild spices if we can grow them ourselves."

"Once we clean the innards, they should be edible." Wei Rong commented, not wanting to be outdone by Zhou Yunhan who was giving out his opinion.

His rival sneered at him. "Even if we don’t clean it, I doubt a wild leopard like you will refuse to eat it."

"Zhou Yunhan, are you looking for death?" Wei Rong growled.

The two startled quibbling again. The other beastmen twitched their lips, slowly moving away from the scene.

Wan Lan went to find the Lin siblings, and wanted to tell them her ideas. After they entered the base, they began to show the abilities they had hidden during the time they were kidnapped.

Their lives were no longer as hard as before, and they could see the hope for the future.

Su Yining followed Wan Lan’s figure. The lop ears were very cute, and she almost couldn’t resist touching them.

Her figure was small, yet full of vitality. As the sunlight cast shadow over her small figure, Su Yining couldn’t help but find it beautiful.

"Even during the apocalypse, there’s always hope..."

She was a little stunned when she saw the chat bubble above the rabbit’s head. When she first found out about the beastmen, this female rabbit looked pitiful and the most quiet, closing her eyes as if she were dead.

Yet, now her small figure was full of vitality. Su Yining couldn’t help but think of her own predicament.

Isn’t her situation similar to this little rabbit? She was alone in this world. Even her situation was better than her. After all, she wasn’t in the apocalypse like this rabbit.

Wan Lan could feel a breeze passing by. She stopped, subconsciously looking around, yet there was no one in sight.

Xie Ziyuan watched the whole scene from his watchtower and snorted.

She had disappeared again.

Su Yining was getting ready. She locked her door with new zeal, strangely finding strength from a game character. Just as she finished, she found a familiar figure heading in her direction.
