Chapter 58: Little Miss Creationist

Artefact summoning.

A rare art that even Aiden took years to get the hang of. Even then, he could barely get it done without screwing up.

Yet, Lily did it like it was the most natural thing to do. The little one kept swinging the pink hammer, not knowing the treasure she possessed.

Aiden didn’t even try taking the hammer to examine or register it. Unlike the so-called Evo-Gear, an artefact once summoned would remain attached to the summoner.

If anyone even tried to take it with or without the owner’s permission, it would turn into an immovable object.

Not to mention, each artefact had unbelievable abilities, like Lily’s hammer. That’s what made artefact summoners so important.

[To think she’s—]

Check her class.

[Ah... it makes sense. She is a creationist.]

Aiden gently put her down before registering the vending machine in his shop. Now that he could move around the building, he would use the shop to set up vending machines on each floor.

At the same time, he bought another combat gauntlet and handed it to Lily.

"Lily, could you hit this with your hammer?" he asked.

"Okay, big brother!"

She squinted her eyes before raising the hammer. A blinding light filled the workshop when the hammer struck. A tremor coursed through Aiden’s body, originating from the gauntlet.

The light dissipated, but there wasn’t any difference in the gauntlet. Well, at least from the outside.

Weapon: Combat Gauntlet (+)

Type: Evo-Gear (Close-quarters combat weapon)

Grade: Standard

Durability: 390/390

Damage: 184 ~ 290 HP

Description:

A reinforced gauntlet designed for brutal close-quarters combat. Made of an alloy of unknown origin, it packs quite a punch (pun intended).

The item has been imbued with a blessing from a creationist. All stats and special effects have improved.

Special effect:

• Fracture: Critical hits reduce target defense by 12% per stack (max 7 stacks).

• Breach: Consecutive hits increase the chance (3.7% per hit) to inflict puncture wounds, hitting the organs directly instead of causing external wounds.

+++

Both the durability and the damage had gone up by a hundred points. As for the special effects, [Fracture] now had a higher reduction rate and more max stacks. At the same time, the chance of a [Breach] had improved by 2%.

She would put even the dwarves to shame.

[That’s an exaggeration, but with a little training I’d agree.]

As he was lost in his thoughts, a small hand appeared before him. Lily was staring at the ground with her hands extended towards Aiden.

"Do you need something?" he asked.

"Lily did a good job?" She asked, still refusing to look at Aiden.

"Lily did a very good job!" Aiden replied, patting her head.

The little girl immediately jumped up, but her hand remained extended.

"And Lily is a good girl?"

Aiden nodded.

"Then where is Lily’s reward?"

"So that’s what you wanted?" Aiden laughed, gently pulling her cheeks. "Didn’t mommy tell you not to eat too many sweets?"

"...yes. Lily won’t ask for sweets anymore—" Lily nodded, recalling Alisha’s words. Just then, something fell on her head.

"Gummies!"

"Don’t tell your mom about it," Aiden winked, ruffling her hair. "And neither should you."

"Never, boss!" James smiled back, crossing his heart. "...not like she talks to me anymore."

Aiden ignored the latter half of his words and turned to face him.

"I know what you’re thinking," he said, pointing at the vending machine. "She’s here to have fun. You better not force her to use that hammer again, is that clear?"

"B-Boss, I would never exploit my daughter!"

Sure you wouldn’t. I don’t need Karina’s senses to know what someone’s thinking.

Aiden didn’t bother spelling it out. Just gave James a stern look and walked outside. As much as he wanted to get his entire shop blessed by Lily, it would be too much for her little form to handle.

Just using the hammer twice had gotten her a bit wobbly. Perhaps Lily didn’t notice it, but he did.

"As for James, I think I’ve been too lenient with him recently," he mumbled. "A punishment is in order."

"This humble servant can deal with the pests for you, my lord."

"Ack!"

Aiden got startled when the voice appeared in his head. He forgot Milarel could also use telepathy, much like his [supervision] skill.

"...no wonder everyone keeps jumping when I use it for the first time," Aiden shook his head, getting on the elevator. "Try not to use it too often, Milarel."

"As you wish, my lord."

"Also, drop the ’my lord’ stuff. I’m not a demon king anymore."

"Yes, my lord."

"..."

Aiden sighed in defeat. There was no stopping Milarel. She was too devoted to her job to care about his request.

"Are you done settling in?"

"Yes, my lord. The girls are currently setting up their rooms," Milarel replied. "They would love to host you to show their gratitude."

She continued before Aiden could reply, "However, knowing your infatuation with cleanliness, I have instructed them to mind their own business. As for their gratitude... I can express it any time you desire, my lord."

"Did managing a brothel fill your mind with gutter water?" Aiden scoffed, but couldn’t stop wanting to tease her. "Do you feel no shame in masking your jealousy with my obsession with cleanliness?"

"My lord, please do not twist my words! I only wish you to receive the best of everything!"

"Oh, and are you the best for me?" Aiden teased her as soon as she took the bait.

"I... This humble servant will take her leave, pardon me."

Her voice faded from his head, leaving Aiden to laugh heartily.

"Decades later, you still get flustered so easily."

He went to the ground floor first. After being cramped up on the same floor, even Aiden desired to take a walk around the campus, now that the barrier covered the entire building as well as the ruined gardens around it.

But first, he had to pay a visit to his ’enforcers’ on the fourteenth floor.
